Chapter 18

Summer. June 22, 1998

"Cherry how would you like to earn some money this summer?" I looked up at Donna.

"I'd love to, but doing what?"

"Well, you know Ms. Underwood, don't you?" I nodded.

"She has a daughter, who just turned 10 and she refuses to leave her alone this summer and I was telling her how you kept the boys in line and she mentioned it and she asked if you'd be interested."

"How much does it pay?"

"20 dollars an hour." I smiled, I could definitely do that.

"Sure." I said, "When do I start?"

"Tomorrow at 10 ." I nodded, kissed her cheek and walked up to Mikey's room.

"Guess what?" I walked in and sat on his bed as he pulled the old Anthrax t-shirt over his head.

"What?" He leaned over and kissed my cheek.

"I got a job, babysitting" He smirked.

"Really, but you're not really good with kids."

I stared, "I am too."

"Cherry you scared away a little girl who smiled at you."

"She was checking you out ,what was I supposed to do."

"Cherry, she was 3 years old." He laughed as I rolled my eyes.

"Well if you ask me that little girl had good taste."

"Of course she did."

"Come on Mikey, we all know you're sexy." Gerard voiced as he stood by the door.

I laughed. "That's wrong on so many levels Gerard."

He shrugged. "So you got a job?"

"Did you listen to our entire conversation."

"Pretty much, yeah." I slapped his arm and he smiled sheepishly at me.

"Whose kid is it?" Mikey asked as he applied a thin line of eyeliner at his mirror on the wall hanging by a poster of Green Day.

"Apparently it's Ms. Underwood's."

"I suggest you don't wear a lot of black."

"Why?" I looked at Gerard.

"She likes pink, and hates black. She's actually scared of us. It's quite funny actually."

"Whatever. I'll wear what I normally wear and we'll enjoy ourselves, plus it'll be like having a little sister."

She can't be that bad I thought as I laid back on Mikey's bed.

Boy was I wrong.
