Earth's Song

i have got used to the sirens now they are still loud and scary but our familys suffered enough, so i try not to worry my parents anymore, well my mum. my dad left for work yesterday, we all ways used to play soilders in the garden but the last words he said to me were dont forget me. "i have to go, its my duty." he whispered in my ear
"daddy, why are you dressed like a soilder, is the war over can we go out and play." i smiled at him with eyes widend in joy.
" not today, maybe soon.... i hope." he started going and i ran up to him and gave him my teddy, whiskeres hes a little cat with a missing ear but he was daddys when he was little. " if you have to go, take whiskers, he will guide you home." i stared up in his big blue eyes.
" dont forget me," he kissed my cheek and swiped a tear away " you can...." the sirens went and mummy grabbed me and headed for the shelter, since then i have wanted to know what he was going to say to me maybe good bye or i love you. i miss him so.

we used to allways talk in the shelter but now we just dont there is nothing to talk about, dads gone, mums scared, nans too old, and whisker is protecting daddy. i started thinking about the war, it made me sad daddy could be all alone in the mud trying to talk to whiskers. "mummy?" i croaked
"mummy?" i repeated
"yes darling," she coughed,
"what is war? i asked,
"well.... its when two or more courntrys want somthing and instead of talking they declare war." she studdered
"why dosnt god stop the war?" mummy didnt answer me. "mummy?"
"because the earth... its too strong when it gets angry and..... god cant stop it." she tried to answer as simply as possible.
"oh." i was still confused by this subject but i guess i had tofind out for myself.
