All I Wanted Was You

You Can't Tell Me To Feel

2020
"Do you remember the day we met?"

The question came as a surprise to Zooey. Skylar had fallen asleep about thirty minutes ago and Tony had carried her upstairs to sleep in her room. Zooey cleaned up the mess she made in the theater, then relocated herself upstairs to the main living room behind the kitchen, where Tony joined her.

"Uh...yeah, kinda." She lied. She remembered the day like it were yesterday. "I remember Mike attempting to hit at me in the studio and I also remember him saying he was probably going to get a boner when he saw me." Tony laughed at the memory.

"I remember feeling so nervous around you. You were like forbidden territory. I liked you since I was a little kid and I remember all watching you in movies or on television or seeing you in ads. It was when we first came over here. I had no idea what to even say to you. I felt so damn stupid."

"I thought you were adorable because of how shy you were. It actually made me want to get to know you more than the rest. That's why I showed you that room and gave you that lightsaber. I wanted something to happen between us because I never felt a connection with someone like I did with you."

"Really?" Tony questioned. He was shocked because she had never told him that. It was true though. Zooey instantly developed a little crush on him the night before they even met when she was looking him up on the internet.

She nodded as they fell into a comfortable silence, staring at the now lit fireplace infront of them. It was a rather chilly November night in California. "That's why I wanted to name Skylar, Skylar Walker. It made me think of that night."

"What?" That was also something that was never shared between the two of them. Zooey thought this entire time it was just because of his love for Star Wars, but really it was because of his love for her.

"You gave me Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. In that moment it was the greatest thing someone had ever given me...until you told me you were in love with me. I'd rather have your love than anything else in this universe."

"You will always have my love, Tony." She paused trying to find the courage to say what she knew needed to be said. "But you won't have me."

Tony felt his heart shatter in his chest. Zooey knew it as she watched him place his elbows on his knees then burried his face in his hands.

Placing a hand lightly on his thigh, she scooted closer to him and rested her cheek on his shoulder. Silently, tears streamed down her face. "I really didn't think it would hurt this bad."

"I'm sorry." She whispered. "But this is what I want."

He lifted his head, then turned to look at his wife. "Can I kiss you?"

Zooey's voice caught in her throat as she felt herself become a pile of nerves. That was the last thing she expected him to say, and she had no answer. Tony took her silence as a no and made a move to get up and leave, but she pulled him back. "Wait."

Turning back to her, he was not given a chance to respond as Zooey crashed her lips onto his own. Things escalated quickly. Zooey found herself straddling his waist before she pulled away realizing how wrong this was.

"I can't do this." Tony kept his hands firmly on her hips, keeping her as close to his body as possible.

"Please don't." He begged her. She stopped her motion then looked into his eyes.

"This doesn't change anything, Tony."

"I know I just...I...I need you."

"And I need you to let me go."

"Then just give me this one last night together." He was nearly begging her. Praying that this night would change her mind about the divorce, he wasn't about to let her slip away from him so easy.

"It won't change anything between us." Her voice was soft, but Tony didn't let those few words register in his brain. He refused to believe her. That kiss meant so much more than it was suppose to.

He gently placed his hand on her cheek and slowly brought her lips back down to his. She relaxed once again in his arms and gave in to his last wish.

Zooey awoke the next morning naked and alone. Tony was no longer by her side and his clothing was missing from the floor. At first the thought of him being gone made her upset but she realized that this was how it had to be. She would never be able to trust him again. Their marriage would be in constant doubt if they stayed together.

She slowly got out of the warm bed and pulled on a simple shirt and pair of sweatpants from her closet. Clothing of Tony's still remained inside. He never came back for it all, along with his other possesions.

Skylar's giggle echoed in the hallway that led to the kitchen downstairs . Tony never left. She stepped into the kitchen to see her daughter sitting on the island with her father close by so she couldn't fall. They were making breakfast. "Mommy! You're not suppose to be here!" Skylar shouted.

"Where am I suppose to be?" She asked.

"Sleeping until we are ready!"

"I'm sorry, love." Tony lovingly watched his wife softly kiss the top of their daughter's head, and smiled. Zooey felt awkward with him being here after what happen between them last night. Obviously, they've had sex more times than they could even count, but this time was extremely different. They were seperated and about to become divorced. Zooey couldn't think of a time when Tony had been that gentle and loving in bed. It made her heart flutter just thinking about they he touched her and kissed her and held her in his arms.

"It's okay, Skye. We're done anyways." Tony said as he placed the last chocolate chip pancake on the plate.

"Okay!" She stood up on the counter and walked to the other end where the stool was for her to sit down.

"You know I don't like it when you walk on here." Zooey told her daughter, giving her that tone.

"Sorry mommy." She pouted, but quickly turned back into a smile as Tony place a plate infront of her.

"Do you want me to make you a plate?" Tony asked Zooey.

"Actually, I can't stay. Diane will be here any minute. I have an early photoshoot, then a meeting with MAC afterwards."

"Oh...okay.."

"Yeah, I'm gonna go get dressed." Zooey quickly threw on some random clothes because she knew they'd just make her change at the shoot anyways. Coming back downstairs, Tony was standing at the foot of the stairs waiting for her. "What's Skye doing?" Tony smirked and she instantly knew. "You put on Star Wars didn't you?"

His smirk turned to a smile as he nodded. "She asked me to."

Zooey rolled her eyes at him, then a silence fell over them.

"Look...about last night." Tony suddenly felt awkward and pulled at the ends of his hair, but he had high hopes for where this conversation was going. "I meant what I said...this can't happen again."

"What?" Tony could barely hear the sound of his own voice.

"Tony...I told you that it wouldn't change anything."

"Yes! Yes, it changes anything!" He shouted back at her.

"No it doesn't. You still cheated on me and completely broke my heart and trust. Sleeping together doesn't make up for that."

"I don't fucking understand." He was becoming emotional and utterly frustrated as he felt tears rim his eyes.

"You asked for one last time together and I gave that to you. Now, give me what." She took a deep breath. "Sign the papers. Don't let my father take this out of control and go to court."

"I will do anything for you, Zooey. Anything. I love you."

"Okay, then just sign the di.."

"Except that!" He felt anger rise in his chest.

"Tony, you need you understand where I am coming from. If you were in my position, how would you feel?"

"I would fucking forgive you and not just jump to getting a divorce like its the only solution. I would never leave you."

"Oh? Oh, really? Because I distinctly remember you punching one of my co-stars about five years ago because you thought he was hitting on me. Do you remember that? You broke his nose and I had to beg him not to press charges against you, and eventually had to pay him off to keep the whole thing quiet."

"That was completely different!"

"How? How was that different? Oh, because I wasn't cheating. In fact, you just assumed he was interested in me because he hugged me. When in reality, a place you obviously do not live, he was gay and just saying goodbye since it was his last day on set. So, don't you fucking tell me you would forgive me and it would be all okay if the roles were reversed. If I fucked another man, you would kill him."

"Because I love you. Don't you get that?"

"That's not love. That's absolutely crazy." She walked over to the round table in the center of the main enterance and grabbed her purse off the table. "Now, you're making me late. We are done talking about this. Sign the papers, and have Skylar back by seven tomorrow night."

Zooey was fuming at that point. She had never felt so angry with Tony, except for the night she had found out about his affair. She just couldn't understand why Tony couldn't understand where she was coming from. If Tony could punch a guy for hugging her, imagine if she cheated on him.

Zooey went about her normal business that weekend and worked. After two photoshoots, a meeting, and a dress rehearsal plus line reading for a new show she was going to guest star on, she found herself back in the lawyers office Monday morning while her daughter was at school.

Everyone sat impaitently in their seats waiting for Tony. "Where is he?" Vincent asked, as he tapped his pen against the wood table.

"I don't keep tabs on him. Sorry." Her voice was full of sarcasim as she rolled her eyes. She was becoming severely annoyed with her father. Since they had been waiting, he had insulted Tony three times and wouldn't stop tapping that damn pen.

"Watch your tone, young lady."

"I'm 33 years old. Not 12. I don't need to watch anything."

"Your foolish mistake is costing me time and money."

Zooey whipped her head to the left and glared at her father. "If you're calling me marrying Tony a foolish mistake, then you must also think the same for my daughter, who is also his child. I didn't ask for your help or for you to be here. So, you can take yourself and your goons and leave. I can handle my own business with my own lawyer." It felt nice to stand up for herself against him for once.

"I know you're stressed about that incompetent boy not being here. So I will let this wild outburst of yours pass."

"He's not A boy. He's a 34 year old man. Stop treating us like we are just some teenagers. I really don't have time for this bullshit. Obviously Tony is caught up in something important. So let's just reschedule." She got up from her chair and gathered her belongings as the lawyers did the same. It had been almost an hour and Tony was a no show. He wasn't answering his phone either.

"Yes, something important. Perhaps he's in another woman's bed once more. Let's face it. That's in his nature. You can't honestly believe he did it only once to you. That is why you're getting this divorce. Don't forget that, sweetie."

"I'm just going to forget this entire conversation did not happen. Otherwise, I would never speak to you again. I'm hiring my own lawyers. I do not need your help." She then stormed out the room and slammed the door behind her.

Walking to the parking garage attached to the building, a ringing noise sounded in her purse. 'Vic Fuentes' read across the bright phone as she pulled it out and pressed answer.

"Hello?" She hadn't spoken to Vic in two months. Mostly because she was scared he was mad at her and he was scared that she didn't want to be friends with him anymore. It was completely silly and due to failed communication skills.

"Have you heard from Tony?" His voice sounded urgent.

"Um, no? I'm leaving the lawyers office now. He was suppose to be here an hour ago, and they tried calling him mulitple times but never got an answer. Why?"

"I just hung up with him like ten minutes ago and he was really fucking upset and crying and I know for a fact he was drinking from the sound of his voice. I'm just really worried about him now, so I was hoping you knew where he was."

"Well, did you go by his apartment?"

"I can't right now. I'm two hours away and freaking out."

"Calm down, hun. I'm leaving now. I just need to pick up Skylar, drop her off at home with Isabelle, then I will go by his place and check on him."

"Thank you so much. I am just so worried about him with everything that's going on. He's just been really off."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize for his mistake. I'm sorry for not talking to you at all recently. I just thought it would be weird now. It's my fault that you and Tony even started dating and got together and now you two are splitting up and I just thought you wouldn't want to speak to me anymore."

"Vic, that's the craziest thing ever. I love you. You're like one of my greatest friends. I would never not want to speak with you. I miss you so much. I will get this all sorted out and then we are going to hang out or go to dinner or something when you're free, and you better bring that beautiful wife of yours."

"I will, and I look forward to it. Thank you for checking on him. Call me later."

"Okay, I'm getting Skylar now. I'll call you after I talk to Tony."

"Alright bye."

Zooey picked up Skylar from school, then took her home. An unmarked package awaited her when she entered her kitchen to find Isabelle making Skye and after school snack like she did every day. "Yeah that came for you like twenty minutes ago. They left it with security but I grabbed it for you."

"Who dropped it off?"

"I asked, and Bill said some messanger kid. I don't know. He didn't really know where it came from but we figured you did."

"No...?" Zooey examined the envelope carefully before opening the seal. Pulling the contents that were inside, she was floored to see it was her divorce papers.

"What is it?" Isabelle asked, peering over her shoulder to take a glance.

"Um...they're my divorce papers....and Tony signed them."

"Well, that's fantastic. I'm glad he finally came to his senses and signed them." She said, before going off into the playroom beside the kitchen where Skylar was playing peacfully.

"Yeah..." Zooey said outloud to no as she placed the folder of papers on the counter infront of her, not taking her eyes off of Tony's named signed in black ink. "He signed them." She whispered to hearself before remembering her conversation with Vic.

Something was terribly wrong with this picture. Not two days ago Tony was begging to fix things between the two of them and now this. It made zero sense and worried Zooey till no end. "Hey Isabelle, I'll be right back!" She yelled to the other room before rushing back to her car and speeding off to Tony's apartment acouple miles from her home.

Thankfully Tony gave her a spare key for emergencies and this was definitely an emgerancy. She stormed up the single flight of stairs outside, not even bothering to lock her $90,000 car. Her mind was racing with fear and nothing else was on her mind but Tony. Slipping the key in the slot, she was faced with a silent and seemingly empty apartment. "Tony?" She called out, receiving no answer. "Tony."

It remained quiet except for the sound of her own voice before she decided to further investigate seeing as his car was outside. She took a quick glance around the living room which was surprisingly clean but saw no sign of him being here. Then, in the kitchen and dining room, bathroom, and Skylar's bedroom, before landing infront of the shut door the held Tony's room on the other side. "Tony?" She called out again, before slowly twisting the knob and pushing the door open.

Her eyes were met with horror once she could fully see inside. The room looked as if a torando hit, pieces of glass that came from an empty bottle of alcohol rested on the carpeted floor, clothes where thrown in every direction, and the television was on but muted on some random talk show. "Tony?" Her voice began to shake as tears flooded her eyes. She now knew she was about to be faced with the worst as she walked to the master bathroom door that was half way open with the light on.

Her breathing came to a hault. Her mind completely shut down, standing frooze in the threshold. "Tony!" She screamed before covering her mouth with her hands, sobbing.

He laid flat on his back on the cold tile floor, unconcious. She cried, running to his side and lifting his head to place in her lap. "Wake up baby. I'm so fucking sorry." She leaned down to listen to his breathing and checked his pulse. It was there but very faint. She had to act fast before she lost Tony forever.

Twisting her body around, she grabbed the hand towel off the counter and placed it under his head before rushing to the kitchen to grab the main house phone to call 911. Her phone was in the car and she had no clue where Tony's was in that mess of a room.

"911, what's your emergancy?" An operator came on the line. Zooey explained the situation and gave all infomation the lady needed.

Seven minutes of Zooey laying by his side, trying to make him comfortable and talking to him to see if he would wake, an ambulance finally came. They loaded Tony on a streacher, then took him to the hospital with Zooey sitting by his side the ride there.

After answering their questions about his background and health, she sat in a silent and empty waiting room. She wasn't allowed in the room Tony while the doctors attended to him. Zooey took that time to call Vic in complete tears. He promised to be there in thirty minutes or less. Now, she just waited.

"Mrs Perry?" Zooey jumped when the doctor called for her. No one called her that. She was famous for being Zooey Voronov. Even though she did change her last name to Tony's. It was never heard.

"Yes."

The doctor walked over and sat in the seat beside her. "Your husband consumed a toxic ammount of alcohol and suffered from alcohol poisoning. We thankfully got to him just in time before it caused any real damage to his body or he slipped into a coma." Zooey silently cried with each passing word. "He was awake for a couple minutes, but we gave him medicine to sedate him since he was in severe pain due to his stomach being pumped. You may go in there now and be with him, but I have to warn you that we had to insert a tube in his wind pipe to assist him with breathing and we also have him hooked up to two IVs for fluid. We will also be keeping him here until his alcohol levels drop."

"Okay." Was all she could come up with in response to what the doctor just told her.

"I'll take you to him." He helped her stand from the chair, then led to the room Tony was in. She was about to open the door and go inside, but she then heard her name being called. Turning, she was faced with Vic.

He didn't say anything else as he pulled her into his arms, giving her the comfort she needed in that moment. "Have you seen him? What happened?" He asked.

"Alcohol poisoning. They pumped his stomach and sedated him because he was in a lot of pain." She informed him as they pulled away.

"Holy shit." He whispered realizing how serious this really was. "Jaime and Mike are on their way and I called Isabelle for you so she knows what happened and that she will need to stay with Skylar over night. I figured you won't be leaving any time soon, and I will stay with you if you need me to."

"You're amazing, Vic. Thank you."

"So, have you seen him?"

"No, I was just about to."

"Oh shit, sorry. I'll go wait in the waiting room and give you your privacy. I'm so sorry." He was about to leave but Zooey grabbed his hand and kept him in place.

"Will you please go in with me? I can't do this alone."

"Of course." He didn't release her hand as he opened the hospital room door and entered with her following close behind. He gave it a light squeeze once they were faced with Tony's near lifeless body laying in the bed.

He was pale and very sick like. He had a tube coming out of his mouth with tape attaching it to his cheek so it held in place. His clothing was changed into a hospital gown and his hair was brushed to the side.

The sound of multiple monitors beeping filled the otherwise quiet room. The tears that vanished once Zooey heard Vic's voice calling her returned after seeing Tony. This was all her fault.

"I know what you're thinking." Vic said as they slowly walked towards him. "Do not blame yourself for this."

It was as if Vic could read her mind. If it weren't for the seriousness of the situation, Zooey would have made a joke about it, but all she could do in that moment was cry. He let go of her hand and grabbed the chair that was placed by the door and put it beside Tony's bed for Zooey to sit in.

"Sit down, hun."

Zooey did as she was told and sat beside Tony. She picked up his IV free hand and brought it to her lips, kissing it softly, as she continued to cry. "I did this." She whispered.

"Zooey."

"I did, Vic. I put him here. I should have listened to him. I should have forgiven him. What if he had died? What would I do without Tony? I can't live without him. I need him, Vic. I feel so damn stupid for not realizing this before. I love him so fucking much that I can never let him go. This is all my fault." She ran on and ran before Vic put her rant to a stop.

"Tony knows you love him. You cannot blame yourself. Imagine if he were awake and heard you saying those things. He would chew your ass out." He joked causing Zooey to laugh slightly threw her tears. "Now, I'm going to step out and call Mike back. He needs directions. I'll be right back, okay?"

"Okay." She whispered in response. After Vic left, she sat there in silence. She just watched his chest rise and fall as she laid her arm across his waist and rested her head on it softly. She could hardly look at his face as the tube going in his mouth brought her into the full reality of what was going on. It took something as horrible as this to make her see how much she needed this man she called her husband. She could never live without him. It didn't matter how much he hurt her in the past or may hurt her in the future. Zooey needed him.

"I love you, Tony." She whispered, closing her eyes, listening to the monitors echo throughout the room.
