All I Wanted Was You

Keep Your Feet On The Ground

2020
Tony was released from the hospital six days after waking up. He didn't return to his apartment that was no longer trashed due to the fact Zooey hired someone to clean it. Instead, he went back to San Diego, even further distancing himself from her and unfortunately his daughter.

"So, are you going to even talk to Zooey about this?" Jaime asked as Tony set himself up in his guest bedroom.

"Unless it has to do with Skylar, I don't want to speak with her."

"Tony...."

"I'm done talking about it." He snapped.

"Fine." Jaime sighed. "All I'm going to say is you couldn't be wrong about Zooey. You are ruining everything by not talking to her."

"I really would just like to be alone right now." He replied, laying down on the bed, not bothering to pull the covers down.

"Alright. Get some rest."

Rest was far from Tony's mind though. Once Jaime left and shut the door behind him, Tony got up and pulled out his Mac book from his backpack. He opened it, went to Google, and typed in Zooey's name in the search bar. He went straight to the news section and clicked on it. Hidelines of Tony having an 'accident' and Zooey rushing to his aid were what mostly filled the pages. He sighed, not being able to find what he was looking for after an hour of searching. Then, he slammed the screen shut and tossed it to the other side of the bed. All he wanted was a sign, a news story, or even a picture to show what he was told about Zooey was true. He wanted her moving on to another man to be real. Tony knew deep down that Zooey deserved someone better than him. Someone who could really give her the life she deserve and truly take care of her. Tony could never do that. He would never make enough money to give her more than what she already had. Thinking back, it was always Zooey who paid for everything. The houses, the cars, the nights out and vacations, everything was her. Zooey even went as far as to take care of his entire families finacial needs, especially his mom.

A knock at the door tore Tony from his thoughts, "Come in" he responded.

"Just wanting to check on you." It was Nadia, Jaime's girlfriend.

"I'm fine." He lied.

"Do you mind?" She asked, gesturing from her to sit on the bed beside him.

"No." He made room for her.

"Thanks." She said softly. Nadia was always sweet and soft spoken. Tony had never met someone as kind as her, and he was happy that Jaime found her. They had met during a meet and greet the band had three years ago and instantly hit it off. She was a fan, but she wasn't like the rest. That's what drew Jaime to her. It was almost love at first sight. "I know that you must be in a great deal of pain right now."

"Yeahh...." Tony looked down, away from her.

"Zooey is such an incredible person. She's so loving and caring for everyone around her. Even people she doesn't really know. She would do anything for anyone, no matter who they are."

"I know..."

"But nobody is more important to her than you." Tony then looked back at Nadia. "No matter how much she loves everyone, she will never love anyone more than you." Nadia paused allowing him to fully register her words before continuing. "The night the two of you seperated and you moved out, she called me. It was like two in the morning and for some weird reason I was still awake. She was crying, and I didn't really know what to say because I didn't know what was going on. Then she calmed down and explained what happened. I felt so sorry for her, and I hated you. I seriously wanted to just find you and beat the crap out of you for cheating on her. After I said some comforting words to her, she told me she felt broken. Like someone had physically ripped her heart from her chest. Please don't tell anyone I told you this, but she said if it weren't for Skylar, she would have ended her life right then just so she didn't have to feel that pain of losing you."

Tony could feel the tears form in his eyes. It only made him realize more how much of a shitty person he was. He cheated on the woman that would once rather die than be without him. The woman who did everything in her power to give him the world and loved him unconditionally, never asking for anything in return. He really fucked everything up.

"I'm not telling you this because I want you to feel bad. I'm telling you this because I know you're wrong. Jaime told me about what happened at the hospital between you and Zooey. Whoever told you that Zooey is seeing someone else is full of shit. Please Tony, don't let her slip away. Don't just let it end like this."

He wiped his eyes and tried to contain his emotions but it didn't work. He should have known better but there was no going back now. What was done is done. He could never take back those things he had said to Zooey. An apology would never be enough. No matter who much him and his friends didn't want this to be the end of them, it was.

"I'll leave you alone now. Jaime should be back soon. He went out to get some food. Are you hungry?"

"No."

"Okay." She stood up. "I'll leave you alone now."

Tony didn't know what to say to her. So, he remained quiet as she left, then laid back down on the bed with tears silently flowing from his eyes. After a few minutes when he heard Jaime come home, he gave into his urge to sleep.

"How is he?" Jaime asked, setting the grocery bags on the counter. Nadia came over and helped him put the things away before she started to make dinner.

"It's hard to tell but it's not good."

"Damn." Jaime sighed. It pained him to see his best friend like this. There was nothing he could do to help him. Tony dug his hole and now he has to deal with the consequences, no matter how much it hurt.

"Have you talked to Zooey?"

"No. No one has. Vic went her house but she wasn't home. Isabelle was there with Skye and she hasn't even really spoken to her. It's crazy."

"Wow....I just...still can't believe what is going on."

"I should have done something about Tony that night. None of this would be happening if one of us just stepped up and controlled Tony."

"Hun, you can't blame yourself."

"But we could have stopped this. Everyone saw how crazy Tony was getting with the drinks. He was completely wasted. It was only a matter of time before he did something wrong. Who would have known it would end up this bad though?"

"No one. That's why this isn't your fault. Tony is a grown ass man and can take care of himself. He knows his limit and he took it too far. Hes suffering for his actions now. I know you all love him. I love him too, but he needs to take responsibility. Zooey and him are divorced now. He caused that, not you or anyone how was on tour with you guys."

"Yeah...about that...I forgot to tell you..."

"Tell me what?"

"They are still married." Jaime confessed.

"What?" Nadia was beyond shocked.

"Tony signed the papers, but Zooey didn't....and I still don't think she turned them in to her lawyers."

Nadia gasped, her heart filled with joy. "There's still hope then!" She shouted, then caught herself before she continued, remembering Tony was just a couple rooms down. "Shit.." She whispered.

"I don't know...if you're coming up with some sort of plan to get them back together..I don't think it's a good idea."

"Come on, babe. We have to try."

"Nadia..."

"Jaime...." He laughed softly at his girlfriend, then thought about what she said.

"There's nothing we can do. They have to fix things on their own."

"Yes, yes, true, but we can give them that little push that they need to get things going. Tony is too stubborn to do anything and Zooey is probably too heartbroken."

"I guess you're right."

"Then its settled. Operation: get Tony and Zooey back together so things can go back to normal is in full force. Now, let's eat, I'm starved."

The day of Tony's hospital release, Zooey ran off to New York City for work. She would have taken her daughter with her if it hadn't of been for her having to attend school. So, she left her in the hands of Isabelle, which was never a problem. She never minded having to stay in Zooey's castle like home with everything she could ask for. It was a dream.

"What time is the show tonight?" Zooey asked her new assitant, Vivian.

"It starts at 6, but you need to be there at 4:30 to give a final apporval." Vivian hired an additional assistant after the work load became too much for Chloe to handle alone. Zooey then stared off into space, watching the cars in buildings pass her by. "Are you okay?"

Zooey shook her head, snapping herself out of her deadly thoughts. "Yeah....I'm fine..perfect." Her smile was weak.

"Who all is going to be there?" Vivian knew where he bosses head was at the moment. Even though she knew the guest list backwards, she wanted to give Zooey something else to think about.

"Uhh...a bunch of designers, some musicans, actors, writters, same old bullshiters." She sighed. "I'm too old to be doing this still."

"If you're old, then I must be anchient." She joked.

"How old are you?" Zooey turned to look at her. "You look 28."

"Try 36." Vivian smiled.

"Well, congrats on the good skin."

Vivian smiled, then the car fell silented. Their driver dropped them off at Zooey's Manhattan home, then the door man gathered their things for them, bringing them up to the top floor of the building.

"I'm going to take a nap. Wake me when hair and make up get here."

"Okay."

Zooey stalked off to her to room and burried herself under the covers, unaware that thousands of miles away, Tony was doing just that as well. They both felt misery in their hearts and minds.

"Zooey..." Someone touched her back softly, waking her. "Zooey.." It was Vivian. "Everyone is all set up and ready for you. We even got your dress a little early, so there won't be any stress from that."

"Thank you." She mumbled, sitting up in bed slowly, then making her way out to the main living room that overlooked the entire city with its overly large windows. As she sat in her make up chair, she couldn't help but think about something. Were all these people her at her hand in foot because they were scared of her, or because they geniunely cared. Did they sorry that her marraige was over, or were they bursting with joy because of the disaster that was now her life. She would never know. If she asked any one of them in that room, they would lie. They didn't really care. They wanted a paycheck and maybe a story to go along with the experience.

4:30 arrived quick, she was already at the venue, going over the designs for the fashion show tonight. Vivian stood close to her side and mumbled each models name in her ear before they came up to her for approval. It made her start to feel like shit. She felt like she was in a scene from The Devil Wears Prada. Had she really become that evil woman? Zooey took a glance around to examine how every reacted and looked at her. She had. They were all scared of her, willing to please. Zooey frowned slightly. What had happened over the years that caused this to happen? How had she not noticed it before? Had she really been so blinded by Tony's love that she only saw what she whated to in the world?

Once she was done, she sat miserably in her seat next to the runway, Vivian on her left and an empty seat on her right. She didn't know how was suppose sit but she prayed someone was. She didn't want it to look like she purposly asked not to sit by someone. That would just make her feel even worse. "What time is it?"

"5:56." Vivian replied back over the chatter of the rest of the room.

"You look beautiful tonight." A voice whispered in her other ear.

She turned to put a face with the voice because it sounded so familar. "Harry?" She was shocked to find it was him who was sitting beside her. "I didn't know you were suppose to be here tonight?"

"Don't know who is on your own guest list? And here I was thinking you invited me personally. I'm quiet offended." He smirked. Even with the many years that had gone by since his rise to fame, he was still damn attractive. There was no denying it. Not even Zooey could.

"I don't make the list. Only the designs." She smiled back.

"Well, they better be damn good, or I shall be upset for not receiving that personal invite." He joked. The two of them had only met a hand full of times over the years but they always had this silly little friendship. It was just the two of them picking on eachother constantly, but Zooey loved it. It was just what she needed to pick her up after Tony's last blow to her heart.

"Sorry about One Direction. Can't say I didn't see that one coming." She hadn't seen Harry in about three years, in that time One Direction saw it's end and the five guys barely spoke to each other anymore. All the little girls were sad, but Harry went on to bigger and better things.

"Oooooh girl, now I'm booing when the show is over."

Zooey laughed louder than expected, and few people looked at her with curiousity. The lights dimmed, saving her from her embarrassment, and the show began.

Harry whispered little comments about each dress and outfit as they went by. It made Zooey giggle lightly the entire time. She could feel eyes and cameras on her but it didn't matter. She was having fun and enjoying the moment. After what she had experinced backstage before the show started, she wanted some changes in her life. Starting with not giving a damn about what others though. She needed to find herself once more and get back to the start. She didn't want anyone to fear her. She wasn't a bad person.

All the models did the final run threw and walked out together in single file, and before Zooey could get on stage and take a bow, Harry leaned over and whispered in her ear, "I'd rather see you up there in those little outfits....better yet, in my bed, with nothing on." Harry smirked and waited for her response. She placed a hand on his knee and leaned in to him.

"In your dreams, One Direction." She slapped his knee lightly, then stood up to get on the stage. She took a bow once the last girl was gone and everyone cheered. She couldn't help but feel Harry's strong stare on her the entire time. Before walking away, she looked at Harry and winked. If Tony wanted to be with other women and accuse her of seeing other men, there was no reason for her to not do just that. It was time to move on.
