Roses Are Red
Their first meeting was in the middle of the forest, hidden deep within, far from any curious eyes.
She looked down at the boy who lay shivering inches from her muddied brown boots. Drenched, he was curled up in a ball gripping his bleeding stomach, but it was the gold ring on his finger which carried the mark of the Royal Seal that caught her eye.
The girl looked around once more for anyone potentially lurking behind the trees, watching her. She waited until she was sure no one was around. Finally she squatted by the boy and pulled back her red hood, staring intently at his pale face and dark brown hair.
A cold breeze made its way between the trees and shrubs, finally racing through her wavy black hair as her lips slowly curved into a wide smile.
The board was set. The pieces accounted for.
It was time for her to make her move.
