The Freshman and Senior
~Kaylin’s POV~
Hi my names Kaylin Belle, I’m a freshman at Burlington High School. I’m 15 and I’m from Burlington, I was born, and raised here. I have a crush on this senior his name is Kellin Haris. He is really cute, and he plays football. He has black hair that’s partially curly, greenish colored eyes, big muscles, and sort of tan skin. He is number 10. Kellin has a cute smile and dimples. I love guys with dimples. I think it just makes them more adorable than what they already are. Do I ever talk to him? Yes I do but the thing is am I comfortable around him? Does he make me comfortable? Yes, actually he does and I really try not to make it obvious to him and the others that I like him, I mean he seems like one of those guys that gets what he wants whenever he wants. I think today since it’s only been a month and a half since we’ve started school that I’m going to risk it and tell him that I like him but on Facebook. Well it’s Tuesday and it’s our last day before Thanksgiving break and now it’s time for computer graphics (photography) with Kellin. I’m very excited for this because he makes me laugh in class. The bell rings for class to begin. I sit down in my chair and think finally its Friday and already 2nd hour. The teacher says, “Alright class you will need your cameras today we will be taking photos for a collage.” I get up and go over to the room to grab my camera. Kellin’s already standing there and he asks me, “Kaylin what’s your camera number?” I say, “2.” He says, “Okay here you go friend.” I smile and say, “Thank you Kellin.” He says, “Your welcome.” I go back to my seat. When I sit down my friend Saisha says, “You have someone looking at you.” I say, “Who?” She says, “Kellin he’s looking at you like you’re a fresh piece of meat.” I look at him and he is looking at me like I am a piece of fresh meat. I smile and then turn to her, “Yep he sure is and I have a crush on him anyways but I’m telling him on Facebook because it will be easier and then we’ll see where that goes.” She says, “Or I can just talk to him for you and then you can go from there.” I say, “Thanks Saisha but I’ll tell him myself I’m a little more comfortable that way and that actually makes me look confident to him and guys really dig that.” She says, “Yeah that’s true because especially Kellin he really digs that but I don’t think that he will feel the same way though do you?” I say, “I don’t know he might but I’m gonna have to try and see then try to go from there.” She says, “Well, good luck then LOL we better get around to get these pictures taken okay.” I say, “Yeah but we gotta wait to find out what the assignment is first.” The teacher tells us our assignment, so Saisha and I go out of the room to take our pictures for our assignments. As I am walking in the hall Saisha says, “Hey I’m going to go take a few pictures of something I’ll meet you in the tech lab when we’re done okay?” I say, “Okay girl see you in a few.” She walks on and I see a picture of Kellin on the wall in his football uniform so I take a picture and then look at it to make sure it looks right. It looks right so I go to the next place and I see Kellin. He says, “Hey Kaylin what’s up?” I say, “Trying to figure out what to take a picture of I’ve already got 2 will you pose for me please so I can take a pic?” He says, “Sure anything for a friend like you.” I smile and he poses. I take a picture and then look at it. He says, “So you wanna walk around with me to get some pictures?” I say, “Yeah sure I’d love too.” Kellin and I start to walk by each other and I think to myself, “Just tell him how you feel.” I look at him and say, “Kellin can I tell you something that I’ve wanted to tell you before it’s too late?” He says, “Sure of course you can.” I say, “I think we are really good friends and we make a great team.” I don’t tell him how I feel because I get too nervous to do so and then I think what an idiot I am to tell him because now I’ll never have the chance for a week because now it’s Thanksgiving break. I look at him and then run back to class because it’s my last resort. When I make it into the tech lab it’s just the teacher at his desk. I sit down at my desk breathing heavily. I put my pictures on my computer and then make my collage print it and turn it in before everyone gets in the class room. I put away my laptop, camera, and just sit down and wait for everyone to get in the class room. I feel so stupid for telling Kellin that we make a good team because that’s not what I wanted to tell him and then the dumbest thing was to run away. I still am breathing heavily when the others come into the room and when Kellin comes in he makes it worse. I try and calm down before Saisha and the others ask me what’s wrong. I do and nobody knows. The hour goes by fast and then it’s time for 3rd hr. The day wizzes by and I am so happy to get home but I’m going to let him know on Facebook. I make it to the front of the school and Kellin’s standing there. He says, “Kaylin just the girl I was looking for.” I think, “Oh crap man this sucks.” I say, “Hi Kellin.” He says, “Okay so what you were trying to tell me was?” I say, “Oh right Uhm... well I have a crush on you and I have since the first day of school and I know you don’t feel the same way. Bye have a great Thanksgiving break” I run out to the bus before he could say anything and get on. A really cute guy gets on the bus and then a younger boy following him. The guy sits by me and says, “Hello, I’m Braden Miler and this is my brother Dylan Miler you are?” I say, “Hi, I’m Kaylin Belle.” Braden shakes my hand and says, “So where do you live?” I say, “Outside of Burlington and Leroy I live in between both. And you?” He says, “I live in Burlington but I am going to my grandparents out on Oxen RD it’s a dirt road.” I say, “I live on that road my address is 695 Oxen RD.” He says, “I am going right up the road to Kramers they are my grandparents.” I say, “That’s cool you can get off at my house and just walk up that way if you want to.” He says, “I’d love to so what grade are you in and tell me a few things about yourself.” I say, “I’m a freshman and you?” He says, “Senior.” I talk to him and his brother Dylan for a little while and all 3 of us have so much in common I think we’d be good friends. As we are talking it is time to get off the bus so we do. They stand in my yard with me and then I say, “Well, guys it was really nice meeting you I’ll see you around school?” They say, “Most definitely but you will see us before break is over with, because your cool and we want to be friends with you.” I smile and say, “Thanks guys you’re really cool to and I would love to see you guys again.” They smile and hug me. I tell them, “Bye guys hope to see you soon.” They wave and walk up to their grandparent’s house while I walk into mine. I go into the house and sit down. I get out my laptop and put it on the charger. I think to myself, “Wow Braden was really cute and Dylan wasn’t too bad either but Braden was the cutest.” I try and get my 2 new friends off my mind, so I can do my work. I do my homework so I go put on my tank top and shorts. I tell my mom, “Hey mom I’m going to run down to the low water bridge so that I can get my running in for the evening.” She says, “Okay sweetie got your cell on ya?” I say, “Yep its right here.” She says, “Okay hun go ahead.” I walk out the door and do some stretches before I run so that I don’t hurt myself. When I’m done with my stretches I start to jog. As I’m going over the hill I hear a voice call my name, “Kaylin hey wait up!” I stop and turn around. It’s Braden. He comes over to me and says, “See I told you you’d see me again.” I say, “Yeah you did so where you headed?” He says, “Down to Low Water Bridge to get my running done for the night and you?” I say, “Same.” He says, “Cool so let’s go.” We start to jog side by side and we talk some more and I think about telling him that I like him. I say, “Hey Braden I just want you to know that I like you and think you’re cute but we just met and I know you don’t feel the same way.” He says, “Actually I like you too and some people tell me who you are and they say ‘oh you like her and all this, and I say yeah I do but I don’t know who she is and today I grew the guts to actually tell you, I’ve liked you since the 1st day I’ve known your name since the 2nd and someone was like talk to her dude and all this.” I say, “Really that’s cool well you know a lot about me already and I know most of your life so therefore we are going to make a great couple if we ever date.” He laughs and says, “Well, I just want to be friends for now because I don’t want to move to fast if you get my drift.” I say, “Yeah I understand but as we hang out more and more our feelings will change.” He says, “Yeah I hear that.” As we talk and run before we know it we are at the bridge. My phone rings and I say, “Hello?” My mom says, “Hey the neighbors the Kramers and I are going to Emporia do you need anything?” I say, “No, I don’t but I’ll be home in just a bit I just got down here imma rest for a few and then head back I’ll text you when I do.” She says, “Okay is there a boy down there with you?” I say, “Yeah it’s the Kramers oldest grandson Braden.” She says, “Does he want anything?” I ask him and he says, “No.” So I tell my mom, “Braden says no he don’t need anything but if we do I’ll call you.” She says, “Okay then.” I hang up and sit down on the bridge. Braden sits next to me and we talk for a few minutes. He says, “So are we going back to your house?” I say, “Yeah we can if you want unless you want to go back to yours.” He says, “Nah, we’ll go to yours.” I laugh and say, “Okay, well we better get back headed that way.” He says, “Yeah.” He gets up and helps me up. We start to jog back to my house. When we get back to my house we go in and sit down. I say, “Sorry I have a lot of dogs and they are going to sniff you like crazy and they might bark. They are dachshunds.” He laughs and says, “That’s quite alright I love dogs I have 3 of my own.” I laugh and say, “Awesome haha, so what you wanna do?” He says, “Anything you want to do hun.” I smile and say, “Hun??” He says, “Yeah we are going to have pet names and all but we aren’t going to be official yet.” I say, “Okay that sounds fine.” He says, “I knew it would so I’m going to call you a lot of different things and I’m hoping that you will do the same.” I say, “Oh trust me that’s one thing that you can count on.” He laughs and says, “Okay.” I go to my living room and sit down on the couch, grab my blanket and cover up. I turn on the T.V. and relax. Braden comes into the living room and puts his arm around me and pulls me closer to him. He asks, “Are you cold babe?” I say, “Yeah a little bit.” He pulls me even closer into him and we watch T.V. I look up at him and he looks down at me. I smile. He smiles back and kisses me. I kiss him back and then bury my face in his chest. He smells amazing. A few hours later my mom and Braden’s grandparents arrive back finally. They walk in to the house and Braden and I are still cuddling happily watching T.V. My mom comes into the living room and takes a picture. I look up at the camera and smile for the second picture. She says, “Aww!! Young love.” I smile and say, “Mom we’re not technically together we’re just talking.” Braden backs me up and says, “Yeah for now things will change but right now we’re just friends.” My mom smiles and says, “Well okay then.” Mrs. Kramer comes in and says, “Aww aren’t you guys cute?!” I laugh and say, “Thanks.” Mrs. Kramer says, “Hey Braden it’s time to get back up to the house we have some things to do but you can always come back tomorrow or later.” Braden says, “Okay, grandma.” I get up so Braden can. He stands up and I do as well, he hugs and kisses me and says, “Hey I’ll see you tomorrow or later on tonight love you baby.” I say, “Okay, love you to babe.” He says to Mrs. Kramer, “Alright grandma are you ready?” She says, “Yes honey let’s go ahead bye Janelle have a good evening, bye Kaylin.” I say, “Bye guys have a good one.” Braden says, “Bye babe love you.” I say, “Love you to sweetie.” He leaves with his grandma and I go help my mom with dinner. When dinner is done my mom and I sit down and eat. As we are eating she says, “So I really think you and Braden are cute together.” I say, “Thanks mom but we aren’t dating did you forget that I have a crush on Kellin Haris from school?” She says, “Well I know that but I think you and Braden will go very far he’s more your type than Kellin.” I say, “Yeah that’s true.” When we are done eating dinner we do the dishes and then relax and watch T.V. At 9pm I go to bed because I’m very tired. I put on my fuzzy zebra pajamas with a KU long sleeve. I lie down in my bed and then fall sleep fast.
~Braden’s POV~
Well I think that Kaylin and I are going to be really cute together. My feelings are very strong for her and I think they will be there for a very long time, because feelings that fade were never real. My feelings are very much so real. I wonder if she was dreaming about me last night, because I definitely was dreaming about her last night. I think I’m going to go see her today maybe in just a little bit. I get out of bed and go downstairs to the bathroom with a pair of clothes. I take a shower, and get dressed. I go to the kitchen to get some breakfast. When I walk in the kitchen there’s a piece of paper I’m guessing a note. It’s from my grandma. The note reads, “Braden, me and grandpa went to town to get some stuff, there’s breakfast in the microwave that you can heat up and eat, you can’t go see Kaylin and Janelle because they went to Kansas City for a few days to visit some family. I love you, here’s Kaylin’s number to call her. 620-231-7716. Love, Grandma Kramer.” I decide to grab my phone and then call Kaylin. Her voice that sounds like she’s been crying says, “Hello?” I say, “Babe it’s Braden are you okay?” She says, “Hey babe, yeah I’m fine why?” I say, “Oh ok well it sounds like you’ve been crying what are you doing?” She says, “I’m on my way to Kansas City with my mom to go see my dad what about you?” I say, “Oh well I was getting ready to come and see you until I read the note that my grandma left me while I was still sleeping.” She says, “Oh well I should be home either late tonight or tomorrow morning early but most likely late tonight.” I say, “Okay babe well call me when you are on your way home so I can head over to your house when you get home. Love you.” She says, “Okay babe love you too will do.” We hang up and then I text my mom to see what she’s doing. I text her and say, “Hey mom, I got some good news. :)” She asks, “What is the good news my wonderful son?” I say, “I have a girlfriend she’s 14 her name is Kaylin and she is amazing. She is a freshman and I’ve had a crush on her since the 1st day of school. I love her so much and she and I have talked a few times and it made my heart beat like no other so what are you doing?” She says, “Son that’s great to know I’m happy that you are happy. I’d love to meet her sometime that would be nice. Have you and Dylan been having fun at grandmas? I’m just sitting here with your dad watching a movie wbu?” I say, “Yeah we are having fun and I’d love for you to meet her you would really like her she is really nice and helpful. Grandma, Dylan, grandpa and I are supposed to go over to her house and eat dinner there on Thanksgiving because it’s her and her mom and they only have each other and right now they are on their way to Kansas City to go see Kaylin’s dad and stepmom. I’m just sitting here at the house alone grandma grandpa and Dylan are in town getting some stuff.” She says, “Oh well we will be out there tomorrow night so we are eating dinner at Kaylin and her mom’s house together I take it?” I say, “Yeah I’ve already talked to grandma and grandpa about it they thought that was a good idea.” She says, “That’s great well I will see you tomorrow night son love you. Tell Dylan I love him and I’ll see him tomorrow night.” I say, “Okay mom love you too will do.” We hang up and soon my grandma, grandpa, and brother pull up into the driveway. I go outside and ask my grandma, “Grandma you need a hand?” She says, “No, honey we’ve got this it’s only 2 or 3 bags. What you can do is call your girlfriend and see if she’s made it to KC yet.” I say, “Okay.” I decide to call Kaylin. We talk for a little bit and then she and I get off the phone. I go in the house and my day goes on.
~Kaylin’s POV~
Well finally Braden calls me. I love and miss him already. My mom and I are in Kansas City but my dad’s nowhere to be found. I try and call him and he doesn’t answer. I leave him a message and say, “Dad, its Kaylin mom and I are waiting outside in the driveway at the house where are you? As soon as you get this message call me back love you bye.” I try and call him one more time. A girl answers and says, “Hello?” I say, “Yeah Uhm is James Belle there this is his daughter Kaylin?” She says, “Oh yes sweetie just give me one moment I’ll go get him.” I say, “Okay thank you.” My dad gets on the phone and says, “Hello?” I say, “Hi daddy it’s Kaylin.” He says, “Kaylin hi baby girl where are you?” I say, “Mom and I are sitting out in the car in the driveway.” He says, “Oh okay well then I’ll be out in just a moment.” I say, “Okay see you then.” He says, “Bye love you.” I say, “Love you too bye.” I hang up and say to my mom, “Well dad will be out in a minute or so he’s in the house and some girl answered the phone which was very weird.” She says, “Well as long as your dad gets out here to see you and spend the day with you then I’m all good with it.” I say, “Me to just hopefully it’s-“I get cut off by my phone ringing. I answer it and I talk to my dad. He comes out the door and I hang up the phone. I get out of the car and run to my dad to give him a big hug. He says, “Kaylin is that you?” I say, “Yes daddy that’s me.” He says, “Wow you’ve grown so big how old are you now?” I say, “I’m 14 a freshman in high school at Burlington High and I am 6’2” if that says anything.” He says, “Wow my little girl has grown up to be so big.” I say, “Well yeah I’m not that big I play basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and cheerleading.” He says, “Wow who knew you’d be so athletic?” I say, “Well I get it from mom you know plus I’m in band I play the guitar, drums, and trumpet.” He says, “Yeah and you get your musical talent from me. Do you do vocal at all?” I say, “Yeah.” The day goes on and I spend it with my dad. We take my dad home and then head back home. I call Braden and let him know that we are headed home. I never told my dad that I have a boyfriend but I bet my mom did and so that’s okay because he hasn’t even been in my life. He just came back in my life around March of this year. My mom says, “Well did you tell your dad you’re dating Braden?” I say, “Uhm no actually I didn’t why?” She says, “Well I did yes and I was hoping that you did but either way your dad knows and he thinks that is cool.” I say, “Well as long as he approves even though I won’t care about his opinion anyways.” She says, “Kaylin Rae Belle!” I say, “What it’s true my dad wasn’t even there when I was younger! Here I am 14 years old a freshman in high school and now he wants back into my life!? I don’t know if I like that I’m doing just fine without him and so are you! He didn’t want us in his life otherwise he wouldn’t have left us when I was only 2 years old! He doesn’t care okay where was he when I needed him as a father?! Where was he when you needed him?! When WE needed him?!” She says, “But Kaylin he didn’t want to leave us but he had to! Okay I’m sorry that he wasn’t there but neither was I! You needed us and I needed him okay when he left I was depressed I wasn’t there for you either!! I love you and so does he. It wasn’t his fault that he had to leave and it wasn’t yours or mine either.” I say, “Okay if you wanna call getting up packing his stuff not saying good bye and walking out the door never to be seen again is just HAVING to leave then your messed up. I don’t have a perfect family and I don’t want one we are who we are but he needs to be there when I need him when you need him when WE need him! And you need to be there too but you always have been.” She says, “He will be and I promise you that.” I say, “Well then we’re good.” The rest of the ride home is quiet and peaceful, all but the heater and purr of the car’s engine. We pull into the driveway and I go straight to my room. I text Braden and say, “Hey babe I’m at my house in my bedroom what’s up?” He says, “Nothing much just chillin in my room with Dylan wbu? We are on our way over.” I say, “Okay I’ll be in my room waiting when you get here my mom will holler for me so just like sit down and wait for you.” He says, “Okay babe love you.” I say, “I love you too Braden.” He replies with this “!!<3.” A few minutes later after Braden and I get done texting my mom hollers up the stairs, “Kaylin Braden’s here!” I holler back and say, “Okay I’m on my way down!” I turn my phone off and put it away. I run down stairs, open the door, and run and jump into Braden’s arms. I kiss him and say, “I missed you love.” He says, “I missed you too.” He puts me down and I go give Dylan a hug and say, “Hey Dylan how are you?” He says hugging me back, “Good and you?” I say, “Way better now that you boys are here.” He says, “Aww that’s sweet.” I walk over to Braden and kiss him again. Dylan says, “So what’s we gonna do right now?” I say, “Whatever you want to do I mean we are on a farm ya know.” He says, “Yeah we can make our own fun and be active unlike people in town with all that bull crap technology LOL.” I say, “Yeah so let’s go outside and figure out what we are going to do for a while.” Braden says, “Yeah let’s do that.” We go outside and figure out what we are going to do for the rest of the day. We decide to jump on the trampoline, play Frisbee, baseball, basketball, swing, and just hang out together. After a little while Braden and Dylan go home and I go in the house to my room and pass out. The next morning I wake up and realize it’s Thanksgiving. I get dressed quickly, text Braden, “Good morning babe Happy Thanksgiving, love you, tell Dylan Happy Thanksgiving for me.” I go downstairs and hear a bunch of people talking in the kitchen. I go feed the dogs and look over at the table. Braden, Dylan, my mom, brothers Matt, Bradley, and Dusty, my dad, and Braden’s parents I’m assuming are all over there. I go over to Matt, Bradley, and Dusty. I hug them say, “I love and missed you guy’s Happy thanksgiving, good morning.” They all say, “Good morning lil’ sis.” I go over to Dylan hug him and then step over to Braden. I hug him and say, “Happy Thanksgiving babe.” He says, “Good morning babe I love you too, thank you, you too.” We kiss and then he pulls me down gently on his lap. He puts his head on my shoulder and his warm calm breath against my neck makes me feel safe and comfortable. I look over at Bradley who is smiling at me and put’s his thumb up. I smile and close my eyes. Braden then whispers quietly into my ear, “We will be going back to school on Monday, Dylan and I are going home tonight after dinner here and then we are spending the weekend with my parents. Have a little family time.” I say, “Yeah, and okay babe.” Braden then says aloud, “Mom, dad, this is my girlfriend Kaylin.” I stick my hand and shake theirs. They say, “It’s very nice to meet you Ms. Belle.” I say, “It’s very nice to meet you as well Mr. and Mrs. Meyer.” Braden’s mom Dana says, “Braden and Dylan have told us so much about you and so has your brothers, father, and mother.” I say, “Dad, this is Braden.” My dad and Braden shake hands and I think to myself, “I have the perfect family.” Braden kisses my cheek and I bury my face in his neck. He smells amazing. My mom says, “Kaylin you wanna give me a hand with stuff outside?” I say, “Yeah sure mom.” I grab my tennis shoes and put them on. I put my foot on Bradley’s leg and say, “Tie my shoe please?” He ties my shoe and says, “You know your spoiled.” I say, “I wouldn’t really say that.” He laughs and says, “Then what would you call yourself if it’s not spoiled?” I laugh and say, “Your funny I would call myself more so special in a good way.” He says, “Okay then well you better get outside and help mom.” I say, “Yeah yeah.” I stick my tongue out at Brad, kiss Braden and then go outside to help my mom. I say, “Alright mom what are we doing?” She says, “We aren’t doing anything I just wanted you out here for a minute so I can talk to you.” I say, “Oh, okay well what about?” She says, “Bradley, Matt, and Dusty are moving back in with us because they lost their house and they wanna help support us.” I sat, “Okay that’s fine I’d really love that.” She says, “I know you would well you are dismissed.” I go back in the house with a huge smile on my face. Matt says, “Sis why you smiling and why are you so happy?” I say, “I got the really good news.” He asks, “What news?” I say, “You’re moving back in with us!!” He says, “Yeah and you’re sharing your room with me.” I say, “Okay.” He laughs and says, “Well I am really happy to come back to my little freshman sister and our awesome mom.” I laugh and say, “When do you plan on moving back in?” He says, “We plan to move in tomorrow.” I jump up and down clapping and say, “Yay!! I’m so excited I can’t wait.” Dusty gets up and grabs my hands. He starts jumping with me and then he stops so I stop. Everything gets quiet and serious. He looks over at Braden and then back at me. He goes over to Braden and sits on his lap. I say, “Uhm…..Dusty why are you sitting on my boyfriend’s lap?” Braden says, “Babe its okay calm down he’s my new friend.” I say, “Okay well that’s not weird at all.” Dusty gets up comes over to me and picks me up. He puts me over his shoulder like he used to and then spins in a circle. He says, “There’s nothing like family time, and picking on your little sister who is still trying to survive high school.” I laugh and say, “Actually bro I honestly love high school and I’m living my life to the fullest.” He says, “Well good sis that means you’re going to go somewhere in life unlike me.” I say, “Now wait a minute you have done stuff with your life you played football and basketball, you’re in college, you have a job, you have gone somewhere and honestly I’m proud of you for that.” He says, “But I have gone to treatment for drugs and alcohol.” I say, “But you still turned your life around for yourself, and this family.” He says, “I know I did but the main reason was YOU. Kaylin I never told you but I am now the whole entire reason I quit drinking and doing drugs was because of you. I love you sis and you were what I stopped for. I didn’t want you growing up hating me because of that and I honestly do love you.” I stand there for a minute stunned because of the things that Dusty just said. I feel a warm tear running down my face, and then I get a smile across my face. I push out the words, “You-you did that all for me?” He says, “Yes, Kaylin I did.” I say, “I love you too.” I start to cry even more and he is soon up and out of his chair. He hugs me while I cry and then Braden is up and out of his chair hugging me too. I stop crying and calm down. When I stop crying Braden and Dusty let go of me and I go to the bathroom. I get out my phone and check Facebook. I have 12 posts on my wall all saying “Happy Thanksgiving.” I post a status, “Thanks everyone for the Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to ya’ll as well.” I get off Facebook and clean off all of my make-up because I think I’m pretty enough without make-up. I back into the kitchen and sit down on Braden’s lap. He breathes on my neck slowly and I calm down. He grabs my hand gently and starts to rub it. I lay back on his chest as he lies against the back of the dining room chair. I relax and just listen and feel his heartbeat against my back. He whispers in my ear his voice low and deep, “You look beautiful and I love you. Happy Thanksgiving.” I say, “I love you too Braden, thank you, you look really cute today, and Happy Thanksgiving to you to.” He kisses my cheek and holds my hand. I say quietly, “You’re really warm and I’m freezing cold. It’s really cold outside babe.” He says, “Yeah you are freezing here you can wear my 2014 hoodie.” I say, “Okay.” He gives me his hoodie and I put it on. It has his last name on it Miler. The day goes by and it’s time for dinner. We eat dinner, Braden and Dylan hug me and Braden kisses me goodbye. They leave and then I have 2 more days left til school. I sit down and look at the time on my phone, it is 3:30. I say, “Well it’s only 3:30 that’s crazy guys.” Matt says, “Well we do have our stuff packed up and so we can move in tonight.” I say, “Hey yeah that sounds good let’s go I’ll help, the sooner your back home the better.” They laugh and Bradley says, “Okay then let’s go then.” We all go outside and I get in my car. Matt, Brad, and Dusty get in Brad’s truck and I follow them to their house. When we arrive at the house they get out and so do I. I follow them into the house; it looks so different since the last time I’ve been there. We pack up and then leave and head home. After we get home I get some boxes and take them inside. I go to my room with Matt’s things and unpack them. He puts them where he wants and then I set up his bed. When I’m done he steps back takes a look and then says, “Well sis I’m proud of you, you came through and are very capable of setting your own things up and mine as well, thank you. I’m glad you took everything in that mom, me, Brad, and Dusty taught you.” I say, “Thanks Matt. I’m thankful for knowing them and I’m thankful for having you guys there and teaching me what I need to know. Glad to have you I love you.” He says, “Your welcome lil’ sis, and I love you too.” I go downstairs and sit on the couch. I try to relax for a little while and get stuff off of my mind; I need to clear my mind for school in 2 days. I think about Kellin and how I told him that I have a crush on him. I get up off the couch and go sit out on the porch. After a few minutes I hear the door open and close. I don’t even bother to look because I don’t want to. Someone sits next to me and I look, its Dusty. He says, “Hey sis what you doing out here its cold and you should really have a jacket on.” I say, “I’m just thinking about stuff, its not to bad out here but whatever you say.” I get up and go for the door. Dusty grabs my hand gently and pulls me back down. He says, “Don’t worry about a jacket here take mine.” I put on his jacket and say, “Okay thanks.” He says, “Kaylin you can’t keep running from your problems.” I say, “What? What problems?” He says, “You can’t lie to me you have an issue something’s bugging you I can see it in your eyes I’m the only one that can understand you and read you like a book.” I say, “Dusty that’s the problem I have no problem I’m just nervous okay.” He says, “What about sis?” I say, “Well before Break on Tuesday I told this senior Kellin Haris that I liked him and told him that I had a crush on him since the first day of school. Before I let him answer I ran out to the bus that’s when I met Braden and I wonder how Kellin feels about me. I don’t really wanna face him Monday at school but somehow a part of me says to do it because I may never know if I don’t and another part says no don’t because he don’t feel the same way.” He says, “Well I don’t really know what I can do to help except say wait a few days and you’ll be over him because you have Braden I mean I did that. Let me tell you a story. There was this girl who was really pretty and popular I mean so was I and I really liked her. The name was Shauna Shepard and she was the prettiest girl I ever seen. I was absolutely in love with her. One day I decided to go up to her and tell her that I liked her. She then said ‘Well Dusty I’m sorry but I have a boyfriend for one, 2 I don’t feel the same way, and I just want to be friends for now.’ So I told her okay. I then walked away and after that I never liked a girl like her again. A year later when I was a sophomore I moved to Hartford and met Emily. We were friends all of sophomore year and then we started dating that summer before we were juniors. We dated from then up to a month ago because she had been messing around on me so I left her and moved back home. Shauna and I just caught up a few days ago and we aren’t dating but we still are friends. You look just like Shauna but a prettier version and younger of course. Every time I see you I think of Shauna.” I say, “Well that just said to me that you got over one girl because she didn’t like you, it took some time and you met another who actually felt the same way so you were together about 3 years and then she messed around on you so you left her. That makes sense.” He says, “Yeah that’s my point.” I say, “Well thanks Dusty that helped sort of. I mean with my situation that actually explained a lot but the thing is that my situation here is a little bit different because I don’t know how Kellin feels about me because I didn’t give him time to answer and then I met Braden instantly became his girlfriend and here I am not wanting to hurt Braden in the process, and wondering how my crush since the first day of high school feels about me.” He says, “Well I’ll tell you this much if he doesn’t feel the same way that’s okay because he’ll see as life goes on that he’s missing out on one of the most craziest, smartest, prettiest, tallest, fastest, most athletic, coolest, most independent freshman ever that I’m proud to call my little sister.” I laugh and say, “Thanks bro. I have to say you’re the sweetest, coolest, fastest, athletic, most independent person I’ve ever met and I’m proud to call you my best friend/older brother. I love you and I’m glad you’re there for me when I need you.” He says, “That’s what a best friend/big brother is supposed to do that’s what I’m here for. I love you too.” Dusty stands up leans down picks me up and takes me in the house. He lays me down on the couch, covers me up with the SCC blanket I made for him with his name, and football number on it.
~Dusty’s POV~
Wow I’m so glad that I got to move back in with my family. I was really beginning to miss my mom and Kaylin. When I moved out I knew I was leaving my sister and mom behind. The look on my little 6th grade sister’s face. She had tears of sadness running down her face, a big smile of happiness and joy across her face, her right hand waving at me a 100 miles an hour it seemed. My mom with tears and a smile waving at me as well. I love them so much, and all I had after moving out was Matt, Bradley, their girlfriends and mine. I called them every day and night. Me a junior in high school, Bradley a senior in high school and Matt a freshman in college. It hurt to leave my mom and little sister behind but I had to do what I had to do. I personally think that I made the best decision to move back home.
~Matt’s POV~
Well I have finally graduated college, Bradley is a senior in college, and Dusty is a junior. We have to find a new house because one we lost ours due to our girlfriends draining us of our money so now I’m going to have to go back on the road to get some more money. I had to do that in high school and I really don’t want to do that again and be on the road with my mom, little brothers, and little sister at home waiting for me to come home but I’m going to do what I can to get money for my family.
~Bradley’s POV~
Well I’m still in college but right now I need to find a job so I’m going to try and apply for a job at Skillman Construction because I need money for me and my family. I need them and they need me. I love my little sister Kaylin, little brother Dusty, mom Heather, and big brother Matt. My family means the world to me and after Emily, Shauna, and Terranda drained us of our money we lost our house and they caused us to quit our jobs because their parents had money. It doesn’t make me very happy but I’m going to do what I can to have money for my family. I will get a job and my mom already has a job that pays good money but I wanna bring in more to support me, Dusty and Matt.
~Kaylin’s POV~
Well now that my older brothers are back home things have changed. I keep telling myself things are different now and it’s for the better. I think since I’m a freshman and I’m 14 I might be able to get a part-time job at the photography center as a teacher’s assistant. I decide to look on Google the phone number of the Photography Center. I call them and give them a little bit of information and they say, “Alright Ms. Belle that is fine but we need to talk to your mother as soon as possible can we have her number to call her and ask permission for you?” I say, “Yes it is 620-203-1897.” They say, “Okay thank you for calling we will call you back when we get permission.” I say, “Okay thank you.” I hang up and think, “Mom is so going to say no.” I get a call 30 minutes later. I say, “Hello?” The lady says, “Hello, Ms. Belle it’s the Photography Center your mother said that it was fine and you start Saturday Oct. 26 thank you for applying we look forward to seeing you in one week and one day.” I say, “Okay thank you is it only going to be weekends?” She says, “No it will actually be during school hours from 2-5:30 Monday through Saturday you will be working part-time. We have already talked to your school and they said that was okay.” I say, “Okay thanks so much, I will see you next Saturday.” She says, “Yes, see you Saturday Ms. Staggs.” I hang up and think, “Thanks mom.” I text my mom and say, “Thanks mom for the approval of the job, now I have 2 because I’m also the lifeguard at the Rec Center! I love you!!” She texts back and says, “I love you too, good luck with your new job, now your outdoing us all with 2 part-time jobs and school have fun.” I reply, “Well I gotta bring money in somehow might as well start early because I need to help my family with some money and plus I have so much free time but now I’m not going to have as much time on my hands, enough to do my homework and have some family time like Sundays for instance.” She says, “That is very true well Matt, Dusty, and Bradley’s got to find a job as well.” I say, “Yeah well good luck to them.” I get up off the couch. I grab Dusty’s blanket and cover him up with it because he’s sleeping in the chair without a blanket. The lengths that man will go through and to for his family, for me. I love him so much and I’m so glad to have him and I’m proud to call him my brother. Time goes by so fast that it’s Sunday night and I am ready but not ready for school tomorrow. 9:00 rolls around so I say goodnight to my family and go to bed. The next morning at 6:30 I get up and get my clothes. I go down stairs to the bathroom and take a quick shower. I get dressed and then I get ready for the bus. I am the only one up. I write everyone a note and then leave on the bus. I think, “Well I know when I get to school that I’m going to be asked how my break was so I’m going to say ‘I met someone.’” The bus ride goes fairly fast and when I walk in the doors and go to the cafeteria I see Braden. I sit down at an empty table. My friends come and sit down with me. My friend Jade Collins asks me, “So what happened over break how was your break?” As I get ready to say something Braden walks by so I say looking at him and smiling, ‘I met someone.” Looking back at my friends they say, “WHO?!” I say, “Braden Miler a senior from here.” They say, “What?! That’s the hottest guy in school every girl is in love with him including us! You met him?” I say, “Yep him and his little brother Dylan.” Saisha asks, “What happened?” I say, “Well their family and them of course came to my house and had Thanksgiving dinner with us.” When I get done saying that they all gasp loudly causing it to get quiet in the whole cafeteria and everyone looks at us. Jade says, “You had Thanksgiving dinner with Braden and Dylan Miler girl how is that even possible you the most geekiest girl in school having dinner with the hottest guys in school?!” I look around the cafeteria and say, “Yeah I did but I am who I am and they must really honestly have a thing for geeks but I don’t know thing is now that we’re back at school things are back to normal they’ll probably never notice me again.” Saisha says, “You got that right.” I say, “Hey remind me why I’m friends with you people again?” They say, “Because you needed us and we needed you.” I say, “Okay well what if I said I was dating Braden?” My other friend Brecken Young says, “You’re not so do not try saying that.” Braden then interjects from his table at the front of the cafeteria, “Ladies the thing is that we are dating she’s not lying to you.” Jade says, “Why would you date a girl like that when you can have a girls like us?!” He says, “Because I have had a crush on her since the first day of school and there’s things that I saw in her that I don’t see an any other girl and everything about her has drawn me to her, I guess I just have a thing for geeks but in my eyes she’s more than a geek she’s something special.” I smile and say, “See ladies you said to me it wasn’t going to happen well that just shows you that the hottest guy in school has had feelings for me, and has had a crush on me since the very first day of school.” He walks over to me, grabs my bags, and interlocks his fingers with mine. He says, “C’mon let’s get you to class babe.” I say, “Chow ladies I have a school life to get to.” Braden and I go over to his table, grabs his bags and we walk to class. He drops me off at Web Comm. before I walk into class he says, “I’m sorry they are so rude babe remind me why your friends?” I say, “It’s cool that’s just the popularity and I’m not really sure that they are friends anyways so it’s whatever ya know?” He says, “Hey have a good day babe I’ll meet you here. I love you.” I say, “I love you too Braden I’ll try to, you too.” He says, “I’ll do my best see you at 9:15.” I say, “Okay see you then bye.” We kiss and then he goes to class and I walk into my class. The bell rings and I’m already sitting down getting everything set up. When my class mates come into the class room everyone tries to sit next to me. Then I’m pounded with questions about my relationship with Braden. I think, “Oh crap now I’m automatically popular because of him, I don’t know if I could get used to this but I’ll try.” I tell them, “Guys I’m sorry to say this but a real woman never tells or reveals her secrets.” They all say, “Ahhh.” I say, “But I can tell you this Braden and I love each other very much, and I think God brought us together because we are probably meant to be.” A few of them nod and agree to what I had to say. I honestly think that we were meant to be together and God brought us together for a reason. The hour goes on and at 9:15 Braden comes and gets me then takes me to photography. This hour was going to be dreadful and I’m nervous because I’m in love with Braden but I wonder how Kellin feels about me. Before I walk into class Braden hugs and kisses me, he says, “I love you see you at lunch.” I say, “I love you to I’ll see you at lunch.” I walk into the class and sit down. Kellin is already in there and I wait for the others who haven’t come yet. The bell rings and it’s still me and Kellin. He comes over and sits by me. He then says, “How was your break Kaylin?” I say, “Absolutely amazing I met someone and you?” He says, “Pretty good I heard who you met so when we were talking before break last Tuesday and you told me that you liked me I wanted to tell you back that I like you too but I’m leaving in a few months so I wanna continue to be friends but be best friends.” I say, “Okay that sounds good to me we have til May 11th but that’s fine that’s the magic of having Facebook, Twitter, phones, texting, calling, Gmail and all that stuff.” He says, “Yeah but you have a boyfriend right?” I say, “Yeah but he won’t care if we are friends.” He says, “Okay well I think it’s just us do you want to eat lunch together?” I say, “Yeah you and Braden are friends aren’t you?” He says, “Yeah we are so he won’t mind.” I say, “No he won’t it’ll be fine just don’t flirt with me or anything cause then he’ll get mad and then he’ll point to me and tell every guy that I’m his girl so yeah just watch what you do or he’ll straight up flip out.” He says, “Yeah I won’t flirt I will just stay on the other side of the table.” I say, “Okay sounds good to me.” The day goes on and then it is time to go home. I start work early. One day Braden proposes to me so I say yes. I keep working and so does he til we have enough money to get married and so we do. I finish high school then we go to college together and have a very cute little baby boy. We live happily ever after.

Hi my names Kaylin Belle, I’m a freshman at Burlington High School. I’m 15 and I’m from Burlington, I was born, and raised here. I have a crush on this senior his name is Kellin Haris. He is really cute, and he plays football. He has black hair that’s partially curly, greenish colored eyes, big muscles, and sort of tan skin. He is number 10. Kellin has a cute smile and dimples. I love guys with dimples. I think it just makes them more adorable than what they already are. Do I ever talk to him? Yes I do but the thing is am I comfortable around him? Does he make me comfortable? Yes, actually he does and I really try not to make it obvious to him and the others that I like him, I mean he seems like one of those guys that gets what he wants whenever he wants. I think today since it’s only been a month and a half since we’ve started school that I’m going to risk it and tell him that I like him but on Facebook. Well it’s Tuesday and it’s our last day before Thanksgiving break and now it’s time for computer graphics (photography) with Kellin. I’m very excited for this because he makes me laugh in class. The bell rings for class to begin. I sit down in my chair and think finally its Friday and already 2nd hour. The teacher says, “Alright class you will need your cameras today we will be taking photos for a collage.” I get up and go over to the room to grab my camera. Kellin’s already standing there and he asks me, “Kaylin what’s your camera number?” I say, “2.” He says, “Okay here you go friend.” I smile and say, “Thank you Kellin.” He says, “Your welcome.” I go back to my seat. When I sit down my friend Saisha says, “You have someone looking at you.” I say, “Who?” She says, “Kellin he’s looking at you like you’re a fresh piece of meat.” I look at him and he is looking at me like I am a piece of fresh meat. I smile and then turn to her, “Yep he sure is and I have a crush on him anyways but I’m telling him on Facebook because it will be easier and then we’ll see where that goes.” She says, “Or I can just talk to him for you and then you can go from there.” I say, “Thanks Saisha but I’ll tell him myself I’m a little more comfortable that way and that actually makes me look confident to him and guys really dig that.” She says, “Yeah that’s true because especially Kellin he really digs that but I don’t think that he will feel the same way though do you?” I say, “I don’t know he might but I’m gonna have to try and see then try to go from there.” She says, “Well, good luck then LOL we better get around to get these pictures taken okay.” I say, “Yeah but we gotta wait to find out what the assignment is first.” The teacher tells us our assignment, so Saisha and I go out of the room to take our pictures for our assignments. As I am walking in the hall Saisha says, “Hey I’m going to go take a few pictures of something I’ll meet you in the tech lab when we’re done okay?” I say, “Okay girl see you in a few.” She walks on and I see a picture of Kellin on the wall in his football uniform so I take a picture and then look at it to make sure it looks right. It looks right so I go to the next place and I see Kellin. He says, “Hey Kaylin what’s up?” I say, “Trying to figure out what to take a picture of I’ve already got 2 will you pose for me please so I can take a pic?” He says, “Sure anything for a friend like you.” I smile and he poses. I take a picture and then look at it. He says, “So you wanna walk around with me to get some pictures?” I say, “Yeah sure I’d love too.” Kellin and I start to walk by each other and I think to myself, “Just tell him how you feel.” I look at him and say, “Kellin can I tell you something that I’ve wanted to tell you before it’s too late?” He says, “Sure of course you can.” I say, “I think we are really good friends and we make a great team.” I don’t tell him how I feel because I get too nervous to do so and then I think what an idiot I am to tell him because now I’ll never have the chance for a week because now it’s Thanksgiving break. I look at him and then run back to class because it’s my last resort. When I make it into the tech lab it’s just the teacher at his desk. I sit down at my desk breathing heavily. I put my pictures on my computer and then make my collage print it and turn it in before everyone gets in the class room. I put away my laptop, camera, and just sit down and wait for everyone to get in the class room. I feel so stupid for telling Kellin that we make a good team because that’s not what I wanted to tell him and then the dumbest thing was to run away. I still am breathing heavily when the others come into the room and when Kellin comes in he makes it worse. I try and calm down before Saisha and the others ask me what’s wrong. I do and nobody knows. The hour goes by fast and then it’s time for 3rd hr. The day wizzes by and I am so happy to get home but I’m going to let him know on Facebook. I make it to the front of the school and Kellin’s standing there. He says, “Kaylin just the girl I was looking for.” I think, “Oh crap man this sucks.” I say, “Hi Kellin.” He says, “Okay so what you were trying to tell me was?” I say, “Oh right Uhm... well I have a crush on you and I have since the first day of school and I know you don’t feel the same way. Bye have a great Thanksgiving break” I run out to the bus before he could say anything and get on. A really cute guy gets on the bus and then a younger boy following him. The guy sits by me and says, “Hello, I’m Braden Miler and this is my brother Dylan Miler you are?” I say, “Hi, I’m Kaylin Belle.” Braden shakes my hand and says, “So where do you live?” I say, “Outside of Burlington and Leroy I live in between both. And you?” He says, “I live in Burlington but I am going to my grandparents out on Oxen RD it’s a dirt road.” I say, “I live on that road my address is 695 Oxen RD.” He says, “I am going right up the road to Kramers they are my grandparents.” I say, “That’s cool you can get off at my house and just walk up that way if you want to.” He says, “I’d love to so what grade are you in and tell me a few things about yourself.” I say, “I’m a freshman and you?” He says, “Senior.” I talk to him and his brother Dylan for a little while and all 3 of us have so much in common I think we’d be good friends. As we are talking it is time to get off the bus so we do. They stand in my yard with me and then I say, “Well, guys it was really nice meeting you I’ll see you around school?” They say, “Most definitely but you will see us before break is over with, because your cool and we want to be friends with you.” I smile and say, “Thanks guys you’re really cool to and I would love to see you guys again.” They smile and hug me. I tell them, “Bye guys hope to see you soon.” They wave and walk up to their grandparent’s house while I walk into mine. I go into the house and sit down. I get out my laptop and put it on the charger. I think to myself, “Wow Braden was really cute and Dylan wasn’t too bad either but Braden was the cutest.” I try and get my 2 new friends off my mind, so I can do my work. I do my homework so I go put on my tank top and shorts. I tell my mom, “Hey mom I’m going to run down to the low water bridge so that I can get my running in for the evening.” She says, “Okay sweetie got your cell on ya?” I say, “Yep its right here.” She says, “Okay hun go ahead.” I walk out the door and do some stretches before I run so that I don’t hurt myself. When I’m done with my stretches I start to jog. As I’m going over the hill I hear a voice call my name, “Kaylin hey wait up!” I stop and turn around. It’s Braden. He comes over to me and says, “See I told you you’d see me again.” I say, “Yeah you did so where you headed?” He says, “Down to Low Water Bridge to get my running done for the night and you?” I say, “Same.” He says, “Cool so let’s go.” We start to jog side by side and we talk some more and I think about telling him that I like him. I say, “Hey Braden I just want you to know that I like you and think you’re cute but we just met and I know you don’t feel the same way.” He says, “Actually I like you too and some people tell me who you are and they say ‘oh you like her and all this, and I say yeah I do but I don’t know who she is and today I grew the guts to actually tell you, I’ve liked you since the 1st day I’ve known your name since the 2nd and someone was like talk to her dude and all this.” I say, “Really that’s cool well you know a lot about me already and I know most of your life so therefore we are going to make a great couple if we ever date.” He laughs and says, “Well, I just want to be friends for now because I don’t want to move to fast if you get my drift.” I say, “Yeah I understand but as we hang out more and more our feelings will change.” He says, “Yeah I hear that.” As we talk and run before we know it we are at the bridge. My phone rings and I say, “Hello?” My mom says, “Hey the neighbors the Kramers and I are going to Emporia do you need anything?” I say, “No, I don’t but I’ll be home in just a bit I just got down here imma rest for a few and then head back I’ll text you when I do.” She says, “Okay is there a boy down there with you?” I say, “Yeah it’s the Kramers oldest grandson Braden.” She says, “Does he want anything?” I ask him and he says, “No.” So I tell my mom, “Braden says no he don’t need anything but if we do I’ll call you.” She says, “Okay then.” I hang up and sit down on the bridge. Braden sits next to me and we talk for a few minutes. He says, “So are we going back to your house?” I say, “Yeah we can if you want unless you want to go back to yours.” He says, “Nah, we’ll go to yours.” I laugh and say, “Okay, well we better get back headed that way.” He says, “Yeah.” He gets up and helps me up. We start to jog back to my house. When we get back to my house we go in and sit down. I say, “Sorry I have a lot of dogs and they are going to sniff you like crazy and they might bark. They are dachshunds.” He laughs and says, “That’s quite alright I love dogs I have 3 of my own.” I laugh and say, “Awesome haha, so what you wanna do?” He says, “Anything you want to do hun.” I smile and say, “Hun??” He says, “Yeah we are going to have pet names and all but we aren’t going to be official yet.” I say, “Okay that sounds fine.” He says, “I knew it would so I’m going to call you a lot of different things and I’m hoping that you will do the same.” I say, “Oh trust me that’s one thing that you can count on.” He laughs and says, “Okay.” I go to my living room and sit down on the couch, grab my blanket and cover up. I turn on the T.V. and relax. Braden comes into the living room and puts his arm around me and pulls me closer to him. He asks, “Are you cold babe?” I say, “Yeah a little bit.” He pulls me even closer into him and we watch T.V. I look up at him and he looks down at me. I smile. He smiles back and kisses me. I kiss him back and then bury my face in his chest. He smells amazing. A few hours later my mom and Braden’s grandparents arrive back finally. They walk in to the house and Braden and I are still cuddling happily watching T.V. My mom comes into the living room and takes a picture. I look up at the camera and smile for the second picture. She says, “Aww!! Young love.” I smile and say, “Mom we’re not technically together we’re just talking.” Braden backs me up and says, “Yeah for now things will change but right now we’re just friends.” My mom smiles and says, “Well okay then.” Mrs. Kramer comes in and says, “Aww aren’t you guys cute?!” I laugh and say, “Thanks.” Mrs. Kramer says, “Hey Braden it’s time to get back up to the house we have some things to do but you can always come back tomorrow or later.” Braden says, “Okay, grandma.” I get up so Braden can. He stands up and I do as well, he hugs and kisses me and says, “Hey I’ll see you tomorrow or later on tonight love you baby.” I say, “Okay, love you to babe.” He says to Mrs. Kramer, “Alright grandma are you ready?” She says, “Yes honey let’s go ahead bye Janelle have a good evening, bye Kaylin.” I say, “Bye guys have a good one.” Braden says, “Bye babe love you.” I say, “Love you to sweetie.” He leaves with his grandma and I go help my mom with dinner. When dinner is done my mom and I sit down and eat. As we are eating she says, “So I really think you and Braden are cute together.” I say, “Thanks mom but we aren’t dating did you forget that I have a crush on Kellin Haris from school?” She says, “Well I know that but I think you and Braden will go very far he’s more your type than Kellin.” I say, “Yeah that’s true.” When we are done eating dinner we do the dishes and then relax and watch T.V. At 9pm I go to bed because I’m very tired. I put on my fuzzy zebra pajamas with a KU long sleeve. I lie down in my bed and then fall sleep fast.

Well I think that Kaylin and I are going to be really cute together. My feelings are very strong for her and I think they will be there for a very long time, because feelings that fade were never real. My feelings are very much so real. I wonder if she was dreaming about me last night, because I definitely was dreaming about her last night. I think I’m going to go see her today maybe in just a little bit. I get out of bed and go downstairs to the bathroom with a pair of clothes. I take a shower, and get dressed. I go to the kitchen to get some breakfast. When I walk in the kitchen there’s a piece of paper I’m guessing a note. It’s from my grandma. The note reads, “Braden, me and grandpa went to town to get some stuff, there’s breakfast in the microwave that you can heat up and eat, you can’t go see Kaylin and Janelle because they went to Kansas City for a few days to visit some family. I love you, here’s Kaylin’s number to call her. 620-231-7716. Love, Grandma Kramer.” I decide to grab my phone and then call Kaylin. Her voice that sounds like she’s been crying says, “Hello?” I say, “Babe it’s Braden are you okay?” She says, “Hey babe, yeah I’m fine why?” I say, “Oh ok well it sounds like you’ve been crying what are you doing?” She says, “I’m on my way to Kansas City with my mom to go see my dad what about you?” I say, “Oh well I was getting ready to come and see you until I read the note that my grandma left me while I was still sleeping.” She says, “Oh well I should be home either late tonight or tomorrow morning early but most likely late tonight.” I say, “Okay babe well call me when you are on your way home so I can head over to your house when you get home. Love you.” She says, “Okay babe love you too will do.” We hang up and then I text my mom to see what she’s doing. I text her and say, “Hey mom, I got some good news. :)” She asks, “What is the good news my wonderful son?” I say, “I have a girlfriend she’s 14 her name is Kaylin and she is amazing. She is a freshman and I’ve had a crush on her since the 1st day of school. I love her so much and she and I have talked a few times and it made my heart beat like no other so what are you doing?” She says, “Son that’s great to know I’m happy that you are happy. I’d love to meet her sometime that would be nice. Have you and Dylan been having fun at grandmas? I’m just sitting here with your dad watching a movie wbu?” I say, “Yeah we are having fun and I’d love for you to meet her you would really like her she is really nice and helpful. Grandma, Dylan, grandpa and I are supposed to go over to her house and eat dinner there on Thanksgiving because it’s her and her mom and they only have each other and right now they are on their way to Kansas City to go see Kaylin’s dad and stepmom. I’m just sitting here at the house alone grandma grandpa and Dylan are in town getting some stuff.” She says, “Oh well we will be out there tomorrow night so we are eating dinner at Kaylin and her mom’s house together I take it?” I say, “Yeah I’ve already talked to grandma and grandpa about it they thought that was a good idea.” She says, “That’s great well I will see you tomorrow night son love you. Tell Dylan I love him and I’ll see him tomorrow night.” I say, “Okay mom love you too will do.” We hang up and soon my grandma, grandpa, and brother pull up into the driveway. I go outside and ask my grandma, “Grandma you need a hand?” She says, “No, honey we’ve got this it’s only 2 or 3 bags. What you can do is call your girlfriend and see if she’s made it to KC yet.” I say, “Okay.” I decide to call Kaylin. We talk for a little bit and then she and I get off the phone. I go in the house and my day goes on.
~Kaylin’s POV~
Well finally Braden calls me. I love and miss him already. My mom and I are in Kansas City but my dad’s nowhere to be found. I try and call him and he doesn’t answer. I leave him a message and say, “Dad, its Kaylin mom and I are waiting outside in the driveway at the house where are you? As soon as you get this message call me back love you bye.” I try and call him one more time. A girl answers and says, “Hello?” I say, “Yeah Uhm is James Belle there this is his daughter Kaylin?” She says, “Oh yes sweetie just give me one moment I’ll go get him.” I say, “Okay thank you.” My dad gets on the phone and says, “Hello?” I say, “Hi daddy it’s Kaylin.” He says, “Kaylin hi baby girl where are you?” I say, “Mom and I are sitting out in the car in the driveway.” He says, “Oh okay well then I’ll be out in just a moment.” I say, “Okay see you then.” He says, “Bye love you.” I say, “Love you too bye.” I hang up and say to my mom, “Well dad will be out in a minute or so he’s in the house and some girl answered the phone which was very weird.” She says, “Well as long as your dad gets out here to see you and spend the day with you then I’m all good with it.” I say, “Me to just hopefully it’s-“I get cut off by my phone ringing. I answer it and I talk to my dad. He comes out the door and I hang up the phone. I get out of the car and run to my dad to give him a big hug. He says, “Kaylin is that you?” I say, “Yes daddy that’s me.” He says, “Wow you’ve grown so big how old are you now?” I say, “I’m 14 a freshman in high school at Burlington High and I am 6’2” if that says anything.” He says, “Wow my little girl has grown up to be so big.” I say, “Well yeah I’m not that big I play basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and cheerleading.” He says, “Wow who knew you’d be so athletic?” I say, “Well I get it from mom you know plus I’m in band I play the guitar, drums, and trumpet.” He says, “Yeah and you get your musical talent from me. Do you do vocal at all?” I say, “Yeah.” The day goes on and I spend it with my dad. We take my dad home and then head back home. I call Braden and let him know that we are headed home. I never told my dad that I have a boyfriend but I bet my mom did and so that’s okay because he hasn’t even been in my life. He just came back in my life around March of this year. My mom says, “Well did you tell your dad you’re dating Braden?” I say, “Uhm no actually I didn’t why?” She says, “Well I did yes and I was hoping that you did but either way your dad knows and he thinks that is cool.” I say, “Well as long as he approves even though I won’t care about his opinion anyways.” She says, “Kaylin Rae Belle!” I say, “What it’s true my dad wasn’t even there when I was younger! Here I am 14 years old a freshman in high school and now he wants back into my life!? I don’t know if I like that I’m doing just fine without him and so are you! He didn’t want us in his life otherwise he wouldn’t have left us when I was only 2 years old! He doesn’t care okay where was he when I needed him as a father?! Where was he when you needed him?! When WE needed him?!” She says, “But Kaylin he didn’t want to leave us but he had to! Okay I’m sorry that he wasn’t there but neither was I! You needed us and I needed him okay when he left I was depressed I wasn’t there for you either!! I love you and so does he. It wasn’t his fault that he had to leave and it wasn’t yours or mine either.” I say, “Okay if you wanna call getting up packing his stuff not saying good bye and walking out the door never to be seen again is just HAVING to leave then your messed up. I don’t have a perfect family and I don’t want one we are who we are but he needs to be there when I need him when you need him when WE need him! And you need to be there too but you always have been.” She says, “He will be and I promise you that.” I say, “Well then we’re good.” The rest of the ride home is quiet and peaceful, all but the heater and purr of the car’s engine. We pull into the driveway and I go straight to my room. I text Braden and say, “Hey babe I’m at my house in my bedroom what’s up?” He says, “Nothing much just chillin in my room with Dylan wbu? We are on our way over.” I say, “Okay I’ll be in my room waiting when you get here my mom will holler for me so just like sit down and wait for you.” He says, “Okay babe love you.” I say, “I love you too Braden.” He replies with this “!!<3.” A few minutes later after Braden and I get done texting my mom hollers up the stairs, “Kaylin Braden’s here!” I holler back and say, “Okay I’m on my way down!” I turn my phone off and put it away. I run down stairs, open the door, and run and jump into Braden’s arms. I kiss him and say, “I missed you love.” He says, “I missed you too.” He puts me down and I go give Dylan a hug and say, “Hey Dylan how are you?” He says hugging me back, “Good and you?” I say, “Way better now that you boys are here.” He says, “Aww that’s sweet.” I walk over to Braden and kiss him again. Dylan says, “So what’s we gonna do right now?” I say, “Whatever you want to do I mean we are on a farm ya know.” He says, “Yeah we can make our own fun and be active unlike people in town with all that bull crap technology LOL.” I say, “Yeah so let’s go outside and figure out what we are going to do for a while.” Braden says, “Yeah let’s do that.” We go outside and figure out what we are going to do for the rest of the day. We decide to jump on the trampoline, play Frisbee, baseball, basketball, swing, and just hang out together. After a little while Braden and Dylan go home and I go in the house to my room and pass out. The next morning I wake up and realize it’s Thanksgiving. I get dressed quickly, text Braden, “Good morning babe Happy Thanksgiving, love you, tell Dylan Happy Thanksgiving for me.” I go downstairs and hear a bunch of people talking in the kitchen. I go feed the dogs and look over at the table. Braden, Dylan, my mom, brothers Matt, Bradley, and Dusty, my dad, and Braden’s parents I’m assuming are all over there. I go over to Matt, Bradley, and Dusty. I hug them say, “I love and missed you guy’s Happy thanksgiving, good morning.” They all say, “Good morning lil’ sis.” I go over to Dylan hug him and then step over to Braden. I hug him and say, “Happy Thanksgiving babe.” He says, “Good morning babe I love you too, thank you, you too.” We kiss and then he pulls me down gently on his lap. He puts his head on my shoulder and his warm calm breath against my neck makes me feel safe and comfortable. I look over at Bradley who is smiling at me and put’s his thumb up. I smile and close my eyes. Braden then whispers quietly into my ear, “We will be going back to school on Monday, Dylan and I are going home tonight after dinner here and then we are spending the weekend with my parents. Have a little family time.” I say, “Yeah, and okay babe.” Braden then says aloud, “Mom, dad, this is my girlfriend Kaylin.” I stick my hand and shake theirs. They say, “It’s very nice to meet you Ms. Belle.” I say, “It’s very nice to meet you as well Mr. and Mrs. Meyer.” Braden’s mom Dana says, “Braden and Dylan have told us so much about you and so has your brothers, father, and mother.” I say, “Dad, this is Braden.” My dad and Braden shake hands and I think to myself, “I have the perfect family.” Braden kisses my cheek and I bury my face in his neck. He smells amazing. My mom says, “Kaylin you wanna give me a hand with stuff outside?” I say, “Yeah sure mom.” I grab my tennis shoes and put them on. I put my foot on Bradley’s leg and say, “Tie my shoe please?” He ties my shoe and says, “You know your spoiled.” I say, “I wouldn’t really say that.” He laughs and says, “Then what would you call yourself if it’s not spoiled?” I laugh and say, “Your funny I would call myself more so special in a good way.” He says, “Okay then well you better get outside and help mom.” I say, “Yeah yeah.” I stick my tongue out at Brad, kiss Braden and then go outside to help my mom. I say, “Alright mom what are we doing?” She says, “We aren’t doing anything I just wanted you out here for a minute so I can talk to you.” I say, “Oh, okay well what about?” She says, “Bradley, Matt, and Dusty are moving back in with us because they lost their house and they wanna help support us.” I sat, “Okay that’s fine I’d really love that.” She says, “I know you would well you are dismissed.” I go back in the house with a huge smile on my face. Matt says, “Sis why you smiling and why are you so happy?” I say, “I got the really good news.” He asks, “What news?” I say, “You’re moving back in with us!!” He says, “Yeah and you’re sharing your room with me.” I say, “Okay.” He laughs and says, “Well I am really happy to come back to my little freshman sister and our awesome mom.” I laugh and say, “When do you plan on moving back in?” He says, “We plan to move in tomorrow.” I jump up and down clapping and say, “Yay!! I’m so excited I can’t wait.” Dusty gets up and grabs my hands. He starts jumping with me and then he stops so I stop. Everything gets quiet and serious. He looks over at Braden and then back at me. He goes over to Braden and sits on his lap. I say, “Uhm…..Dusty why are you sitting on my boyfriend’s lap?” Braden says, “Babe its okay calm down he’s my new friend.” I say, “Okay well that’s not weird at all.” Dusty gets up comes over to me and picks me up. He puts me over his shoulder like he used to and then spins in a circle. He says, “There’s nothing like family time, and picking on your little sister who is still trying to survive high school.” I laugh and say, “Actually bro I honestly love high school and I’m living my life to the fullest.” He says, “Well good sis that means you’re going to go somewhere in life unlike me.” I say, “Now wait a minute you have done stuff with your life you played football and basketball, you’re in college, you have a job, you have gone somewhere and honestly I’m proud of you for that.” He says, “But I have gone to treatment for drugs and alcohol.” I say, “But you still turned your life around for yourself, and this family.” He says, “I know I did but the main reason was YOU. Kaylin I never told you but I am now the whole entire reason I quit drinking and doing drugs was because of you. I love you sis and you were what I stopped for. I didn’t want you growing up hating me because of that and I honestly do love you.” I stand there for a minute stunned because of the things that Dusty just said. I feel a warm tear running down my face, and then I get a smile across my face. I push out the words, “You-you did that all for me?” He says, “Yes, Kaylin I did.” I say, “I love you too.” I start to cry even more and he is soon up and out of his chair. He hugs me while I cry and then Braden is up and out of his chair hugging me too. I stop crying and calm down. When I stop crying Braden and Dusty let go of me and I go to the bathroom. I get out my phone and check Facebook. I have 12 posts on my wall all saying “Happy Thanksgiving.” I post a status, “Thanks everyone for the Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to ya’ll as well.” I get off Facebook and clean off all of my make-up because I think I’m pretty enough without make-up. I back into the kitchen and sit down on Braden’s lap. He breathes on my neck slowly and I calm down. He grabs my hand gently and starts to rub it. I lay back on his chest as he lies against the back of the dining room chair. I relax and just listen and feel his heartbeat against my back. He whispers in my ear his voice low and deep, “You look beautiful and I love you. Happy Thanksgiving.” I say, “I love you too Braden, thank you, you look really cute today, and Happy Thanksgiving to you to.” He kisses my cheek and holds my hand. I say quietly, “You’re really warm and I’m freezing cold. It’s really cold outside babe.” He says, “Yeah you are freezing here you can wear my 2014 hoodie.” I say, “Okay.” He gives me his hoodie and I put it on. It has his last name on it Miler. The day goes by and it’s time for dinner. We eat dinner, Braden and Dylan hug me and Braden kisses me goodbye. They leave and then I have 2 more days left til school. I sit down and look at the time on my phone, it is 3:30. I say, “Well it’s only 3:30 that’s crazy guys.” Matt says, “Well we do have our stuff packed up and so we can move in tonight.” I say, “Hey yeah that sounds good let’s go I’ll help, the sooner your back home the better.” They laugh and Bradley says, “Okay then let’s go then.” We all go outside and I get in my car. Matt, Brad, and Dusty get in Brad’s truck and I follow them to their house. When we arrive at the house they get out and so do I. I follow them into the house; it looks so different since the last time I’ve been there. We pack up and then leave and head home. After we get home I get some boxes and take them inside. I go to my room with Matt’s things and unpack them. He puts them where he wants and then I set up his bed. When I’m done he steps back takes a look and then says, “Well sis I’m proud of you, you came through and are very capable of setting your own things up and mine as well, thank you. I’m glad you took everything in that mom, me, Brad, and Dusty taught you.” I say, “Thanks Matt. I’m thankful for knowing them and I’m thankful for having you guys there and teaching me what I need to know. Glad to have you I love you.” He says, “Your welcome lil’ sis, and I love you too.” I go downstairs and sit on the couch. I try to relax for a little while and get stuff off of my mind; I need to clear my mind for school in 2 days. I think about Kellin and how I told him that I have a crush on him. I get up off the couch and go sit out on the porch. After a few minutes I hear the door open and close. I don’t even bother to look because I don’t want to. Someone sits next to me and I look, its Dusty. He says, “Hey sis what you doing out here its cold and you should really have a jacket on.” I say, “I’m just thinking about stuff, its not to bad out here but whatever you say.” I get up and go for the door. Dusty grabs my hand gently and pulls me back down. He says, “Don’t worry about a jacket here take mine.” I put on his jacket and say, “Okay thanks.” He says, “Kaylin you can’t keep running from your problems.” I say, “What? What problems?” He says, “You can’t lie to me you have an issue something’s bugging you I can see it in your eyes I’m the only one that can understand you and read you like a book.” I say, “Dusty that’s the problem I have no problem I’m just nervous okay.” He says, “What about sis?” I say, “Well before Break on Tuesday I told this senior Kellin Haris that I liked him and told him that I had a crush on him since the first day of school. Before I let him answer I ran out to the bus that’s when I met Braden and I wonder how Kellin feels about me. I don’t really wanna face him Monday at school but somehow a part of me says to do it because I may never know if I don’t and another part says no don’t because he don’t feel the same way.” He says, “Well I don’t really know what I can do to help except say wait a few days and you’ll be over him because you have Braden I mean I did that. Let me tell you a story. There was this girl who was really pretty and popular I mean so was I and I really liked her. The name was Shauna Shepard and she was the prettiest girl I ever seen. I was absolutely in love with her. One day I decided to go up to her and tell her that I liked her. She then said ‘Well Dusty I’m sorry but I have a boyfriend for one, 2 I don’t feel the same way, and I just want to be friends for now.’ So I told her okay. I then walked away and after that I never liked a girl like her again. A year later when I was a sophomore I moved to Hartford and met Emily. We were friends all of sophomore year and then we started dating that summer before we were juniors. We dated from then up to a month ago because she had been messing around on me so I left her and moved back home. Shauna and I just caught up a few days ago and we aren’t dating but we still are friends. You look just like Shauna but a prettier version and younger of course. Every time I see you I think of Shauna.” I say, “Well that just said to me that you got over one girl because she didn’t like you, it took some time and you met another who actually felt the same way so you were together about 3 years and then she messed around on you so you left her. That makes sense.” He says, “Yeah that’s my point.” I say, “Well thanks Dusty that helped sort of. I mean with my situation that actually explained a lot but the thing is that my situation here is a little bit different because I don’t know how Kellin feels about me because I didn’t give him time to answer and then I met Braden instantly became his girlfriend and here I am not wanting to hurt Braden in the process, and wondering how my crush since the first day of high school feels about me.” He says, “Well I’ll tell you this much if he doesn’t feel the same way that’s okay because he’ll see as life goes on that he’s missing out on one of the most craziest, smartest, prettiest, tallest, fastest, most athletic, coolest, most independent freshman ever that I’m proud to call my little sister.” I laugh and say, “Thanks bro. I have to say you’re the sweetest, coolest, fastest, athletic, most independent person I’ve ever met and I’m proud to call you my best friend/older brother. I love you and I’m glad you’re there for me when I need you.” He says, “That’s what a best friend/big brother is supposed to do that’s what I’m here for. I love you too.” Dusty stands up leans down picks me up and takes me in the house. He lays me down on the couch, covers me up with the SCC blanket I made for him with his name, and football number on it.
~Dusty’s POV~
Wow I’m so glad that I got to move back in with my family. I was really beginning to miss my mom and Kaylin. When I moved out I knew I was leaving my sister and mom behind. The look on my little 6th grade sister’s face. She had tears of sadness running down her face, a big smile of happiness and joy across her face, her right hand waving at me a 100 miles an hour it seemed. My mom with tears and a smile waving at me as well. I love them so much, and all I had after moving out was Matt, Bradley, their girlfriends and mine. I called them every day and night. Me a junior in high school, Bradley a senior in high school and Matt a freshman in college. It hurt to leave my mom and little sister behind but I had to do what I had to do. I personally think that I made the best decision to move back home.
~Matt’s POV~
Well I have finally graduated college, Bradley is a senior in college, and Dusty is a junior. We have to find a new house because one we lost ours due to our girlfriends draining us of our money so now I’m going to have to go back on the road to get some more money. I had to do that in high school and I really don’t want to do that again and be on the road with my mom, little brothers, and little sister at home waiting for me to come home but I’m going to do what I can to get money for my family.
~Bradley’s POV~
Well I’m still in college but right now I need to find a job so I’m going to try and apply for a job at Skillman Construction because I need money for me and my family. I need them and they need me. I love my little sister Kaylin, little brother Dusty, mom Heather, and big brother Matt. My family means the world to me and after Emily, Shauna, and Terranda drained us of our money we lost our house and they caused us to quit our jobs because their parents had money. It doesn’t make me very happy but I’m going to do what I can to have money for my family. I will get a job and my mom already has a job that pays good money but I wanna bring in more to support me, Dusty and Matt.
~Kaylin’s POV~
Well now that my older brothers are back home things have changed. I keep telling myself things are different now and it’s for the better. I think since I’m a freshman and I’m 14 I might be able to get a part-time job at the photography center as a teacher’s assistant. I decide to look on Google the phone number of the Photography Center. I call them and give them a little bit of information and they say, “Alright Ms. Belle that is fine but we need to talk to your mother as soon as possible can we have her number to call her and ask permission for you?” I say, “Yes it is 620-203-1897.” They say, “Okay thank you for calling we will call you back when we get permission.” I say, “Okay thank you.” I hang up and think, “Mom is so going to say no.” I get a call 30 minutes later. I say, “Hello?” The lady says, “Hello, Ms. Belle it’s the Photography Center your mother said that it was fine and you start Saturday Oct. 26 thank you for applying we look forward to seeing you in one week and one day.” I say, “Okay thank you is it only going to be weekends?” She says, “No it will actually be during school hours from 2-5:30 Monday through Saturday you will be working part-time. We have already talked to your school and they said that was okay.” I say, “Okay thanks so much, I will see you next Saturday.” She says, “Yes, see you Saturday Ms. Staggs.” I hang up and think, “Thanks mom.” I text my mom and say, “Thanks mom for the approval of the job, now I have 2 because I’m also the lifeguard at the Rec Center! I love you!!” She texts back and says, “I love you too, good luck with your new job, now your outdoing us all with 2 part-time jobs and school have fun.” I reply, “Well I gotta bring money in somehow might as well start early because I need to help my family with some money and plus I have so much free time but now I’m not going to have as much time on my hands, enough to do my homework and have some family time like Sundays for instance.” She says, “That is very true well Matt, Dusty, and Bradley’s got to find a job as well.” I say, “Yeah well good luck to them.” I get up off the couch. I grab Dusty’s blanket and cover him up with it because he’s sleeping in the chair without a blanket. The lengths that man will go through and to for his family, for me. I love him so much and I’m so glad to have him and I’m proud to call him my brother. Time goes by so fast that it’s Sunday night and I am ready but not ready for school tomorrow. 9:00 rolls around so I say goodnight to my family and go to bed. The next morning at 6:30 I get up and get my clothes. I go down stairs to the bathroom and take a quick shower. I get dressed and then I get ready for the bus. I am the only one up. I write everyone a note and then leave on the bus. I think, “Well I know when I get to school that I’m going to be asked how my break was so I’m going to say ‘I met someone.’” The bus ride goes fairly fast and when I walk in the doors and go to the cafeteria I see Braden. I sit down at an empty table. My friends come and sit down with me. My friend Jade Collins asks me, “So what happened over break how was your break?” As I get ready to say something Braden walks by so I say looking at him and smiling, ‘I met someone.” Looking back at my friends they say, “WHO?!” I say, “Braden Miler a senior from here.” They say, “What?! That’s the hottest guy in school every girl is in love with him including us! You met him?” I say, “Yep him and his little brother Dylan.” Saisha asks, “What happened?” I say, “Well their family and them of course came to my house and had Thanksgiving dinner with us.” When I get done saying that they all gasp loudly causing it to get quiet in the whole cafeteria and everyone looks at us. Jade says, “You had Thanksgiving dinner with Braden and Dylan Miler girl how is that even possible you the most geekiest girl in school having dinner with the hottest guys in school?!” I look around the cafeteria and say, “Yeah I did but I am who I am and they must really honestly have a thing for geeks but I don’t know thing is now that we’re back at school things are back to normal they’ll probably never notice me again.” Saisha says, “You got that right.” I say, “Hey remind me why I’m friends with you people again?” They say, “Because you needed us and we needed you.” I say, “Okay well what if I said I was dating Braden?” My other friend Brecken Young says, “You’re not so do not try saying that.” Braden then interjects from his table at the front of the cafeteria, “Ladies the thing is that we are dating she’s not lying to you.” Jade says, “Why would you date a girl like that when you can have a girls like us?!” He says, “Because I have had a crush on her since the first day of school and there’s things that I saw in her that I don’t see an any other girl and everything about her has drawn me to her, I guess I just have a thing for geeks but in my eyes she’s more than a geek she’s something special.” I smile and say, “See ladies you said to me it wasn’t going to happen well that just shows you that the hottest guy in school has had feelings for me, and has had a crush on me since the very first day of school.” He walks over to me, grabs my bags, and interlocks his fingers with mine. He says, “C’mon let’s get you to class babe.” I say, “Chow ladies I have a school life to get to.” Braden and I go over to his table, grabs his bags and we walk to class. He drops me off at Web Comm. before I walk into class he says, “I’m sorry they are so rude babe remind me why your friends?” I say, “It’s cool that’s just the popularity and I’m not really sure that they are friends anyways so it’s whatever ya know?” He says, “Hey have a good day babe I’ll meet you here. I love you.” I say, “I love you too Braden I’ll try to, you too.” He says, “I’ll do my best see you at 9:15.” I say, “Okay see you then bye.” We kiss and then he goes to class and I walk into my class. The bell rings and I’m already sitting down getting everything set up. When my class mates come into the class room everyone tries to sit next to me. Then I’m pounded with questions about my relationship with Braden. I think, “Oh crap now I’m automatically popular because of him, I don’t know if I could get used to this but I’ll try.” I tell them, “Guys I’m sorry to say this but a real woman never tells or reveals her secrets.” They all say, “Ahhh.” I say, “But I can tell you this Braden and I love each other very much, and I think God brought us together because we are probably meant to be.” A few of them nod and agree to what I had to say. I honestly think that we were meant to be together and God brought us together for a reason. The hour goes on and at 9:15 Braden comes and gets me then takes me to photography. This hour was going to be dreadful and I’m nervous because I’m in love with Braden but I wonder how Kellin feels about me. Before I walk into class Braden hugs and kisses me, he says, “I love you see you at lunch.” I say, “I love you to I’ll see you at lunch.” I walk into the class and sit down. Kellin is already in there and I wait for the others who haven’t come yet. The bell rings and it’s still me and Kellin. He comes over and sits by me. He then says, “How was your break Kaylin?” I say, “Absolutely amazing I met someone and you?” He says, “Pretty good I heard who you met so when we were talking before break last Tuesday and you told me that you liked me I wanted to tell you back that I like you too but I’m leaving in a few months so I wanna continue to be friends but be best friends.” I say, “Okay that sounds good to me we have til May 11th but that’s fine that’s the magic of having Facebook, Twitter, phones, texting, calling, Gmail and all that stuff.” He says, “Yeah but you have a boyfriend right?” I say, “Yeah but he won’t care if we are friends.” He says, “Okay well I think it’s just us do you want to eat lunch together?” I say, “Yeah you and Braden are friends aren’t you?” He says, “Yeah we are so he won’t mind.” I say, “No he won’t it’ll be fine just don’t flirt with me or anything cause then he’ll get mad and then he’ll point to me and tell every guy that I’m his girl so yeah just watch what you do or he’ll straight up flip out.” He says, “Yeah I won’t flirt I will just stay on the other side of the table.” I say, “Okay sounds good to me.” The day goes on and then it is time to go home. I start work early. One day Braden proposes to me so I say yes. I keep working and so does he til we have enough money to get married and so we do. I finish high school then we go to college together and have a very cute little baby boy. We live happily ever after.
