Meeting uncle Charlie

My eyes opened to the warm sunlight that escaped from my window blinds. I smiled and stretched out, yawning in the process. Waking up to sunlight was the best feeling, ever. Unless you were totally hungover like my father normally was. He told me his brother was the exact same way, but I knew so much better. Why you may ask? Well see when I was little social security tried taking me and my siblings away, so uncle charlie (it's what he prefered to be called) basically raised me for that entire year. Best year of my entire life! He taught me the ways of being a rebel, prankster, troublemaker, and total badass. Instead of my dad trying to make me the perfect princess my sister is today, I stuck with the ways my uncle taught me. My dad absolutely hates his brother for some odd reason, I never knew why. Uncle Charlie never wanted to talk about it either so I let it be. The funny thing I find in all this mess is that I'm the only blonde in my family. I never really thought my mom was my real mom. Sad trust me I know. I look nothing like my family though! Grandma says it's all genetics passed down from a great ancestor, she's also in her 60's, and slowly losing it.
Today was the annual 'Family Reunion' that happened every year. I hated it so much, especially seeing my cousins. They were all so perfect, pretty, proper, goodie two shoes, and sweet. Not really the sweet part, that's all an act. They're just jealous uncle charlie is in a famous band and he favors me the most. Actually they hate rock, and rap. My cousins are weird because rock is my favorite genre of music actually.
My dad banged his fist on my door telling me to get up and get ready for this stupid thing. What was the point in going? My favorite uncle wouldn't be there, and my dad would just smack me around afterwards. Yeah, my dad is a bit abusive. Okay he's really abusive, but my moms always telling me he'll stop. I've stopped listening to her now.
My legs swung over the side of my bed. I slowly lifted my head to see the time, 11:30 am. I had about 30 minutes to get ready, great. The shower was nice I guess, but I still dreaded the reunion. It took me 15 minutes in the shower hoping I'd never have to come out. My body ached from last night, dad had hit me in the back pretty hard. I was only 14 meaning I still had 4 years left in this house. After my shower I quickly got dressed in polyvore.com/meeting_uncle_charlie_scence_for/set?id=7082058... and dried my hair. It looked pretty natural today so I left it the way it was. My blue eyes stood out when I put my eye make up on. My mom had the same blue eyes as me. It was actually the only detail about me that I liked. When I left my bathroom, there stood my beautiful knee high converse. My babies, I just loved them so much. I threw them on and headed downstairs with 5 minutes to spare.
"What took you so long?" My dads angered voice echoed through the house. My older sister was dressed in an ugly pink dress with hot pink heels. She rolled her eyes at me and wobbled outside. My dads large hand flew to my face sending me flying to the ground. He stormed out the door to get in the car. I ran into my moms bathroom to see a giant bruise was quickly forming. I used her foundation as fast as I could, rubbing it in making me look instantly paler. At least it covered the ugly purple and black thing. The car horn honked indicating my mom wasn't going to wait any longer. I ran outside and hopped in the car next to my siblings dressed all fancy. The car ride was completely silent except for the radio's music and commercials playing softly in the back round. Normally I'd like the silence, but this time it was quite scary. We arrived at the park to see more people than usual. Grandma must have invited family I didn't know about.
We got out to see a giant tour bus park a few spaces away. Dad huffed at the sight before pulling us away. Wait, that bus said 'Hollywood Undead' meaning uncle Charlie was here! My grandma saw my sister and made a run for her grasping her in a tight grandma hug. She gave grandma a light pat and grandma let go with a slight frown. Grandma kissed my dad on the cheek, but when she moved to hug him he backed away. My mom gave her a light hug and a fake smile, which my grandma saw and sighed. She punched my older brother in the shoulder shocking us all, and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. I (unlike all my family) squeezed her back. She pulled back and gave me a reassuring smile, then walked away. My eyes opened to the warm sunlight that escaped from my window blinds. I smiled and stretched out, yawning in the process. My dad was now occupied with the other dads, my sister was giggling with the older girls, while my brother was talking all fancy like to the other guys. As for my mom she was talking with some older cousin I guess. I took this chance to grab 3 hot dogs, and a bunch of chips. After about a good 5 minutes I finished the delicious hot dogs and was focusing on the chips. It wasn't that I never ate, I had an eating problem. I was extremely skinny, like I could pass for anorexic. But I ate like a pig. I could see my fathers evil eye from the corner of my eye. Great, I was going to get an extra beating tonight. I stood up to throw my plate away, only to see my grandma hugging my uncle Charlie. He actually came? I turned away and thew my stuff in the trash, but before I could turn around I was being picked up. The person held me high and spun me around. When they put me down I turned to see uncle Charlie. I gave him a confused look but hugged him anyways. He picked me up again and laughed. He put me down and led me to 5 other guys.
"So this is the famous Rachel!" A guy with a three on his neck exclaimed. My uncle put his arm around my shoulders. I didn't have to look at him to know he was smiling. Honestly he was the best family member I had. Yeah sure he was probably overcoming a hangover, but he didn't beat me. I looked over at my dad who looked at me completely enraged. I was probably never going to see daylight ever again. One of the tallest members followed my gaze and was soon mocked by the other 5. I didn't want my dad and Uncle Charlie to get into another big fight. My dad always lost. He looked away in embarrassment, but his glare was focused back at me when their gazes left. Uncle Charlie's arm tightend around my shoulders as dad approached.
"May I see my daughter?" He asked politely. Fear trembled through my body sending shivers down my spine. I was going to die, and I was going to die today.
"Why?" Uncle Charlie folded his arms across his chest.
"Doctors appointment." He replied grabbing my scarred wrist and yanking me away from the only people I loved. 'I'm sorry' I mouthed while my dad ripped me further into the parking lot. His cup of water was flung into my face and was now dripping all over my arms revealing bruises, and many of my scars. He grumbled then let out a terrible laugh before grabbing my wrist again, and pulling me away. "You're pathetic you know?!" He laughed again pulling us though the trail of the woods that were behind the park. I was going to die in the woods, classic. Just when we gotten far enough, his hand came in contact with my face. I flew to the ground in pain. He kicked me over and over again, each kick piercing me in the ribs. I let out a scream of pain, only to get a foot to the face. Blood rushed out of my mouth and nose. Why wouldn't my mother let me take those kick boxing classes? It would help a lot right now. He turned away to spit on the ground. I managed to shakily get up and run. Maybe mom had never let me take kick boxing, but I do play soccer and I love it. My legs carried me as fast as they could possibly go, stumbling over only a few things. I ran past the parking lot of the park, still bleeding and in pain, but I couldn't stop now. More tears fled down my face as I made it to the main road not stopping. An old abandoned parking lot stood out to me making me stop and walk over to it. I collapsed, my blood falling around me. My breath was slowing down, finally coming back to normal. "There you are." My dad stood over me punching his fist into my face. Darkness started to fog in, and the pain started to decrease.
