Prologue
Everyone has one. Though people themselves can be as different as night and day, the one universal denominator are the timers. Numbers that fluctuate as the days go by--rising and falling with daily decisions you make. Days that represent how long until you meet your soul mate--your one true love--the one you are supposed to be with.
Forever.
The stories about “that day” are as unique as snowflakes. There are those who stress about when they will meet the one, and those who cover the numbers and go by feeling and feeling alone. There are the Faded, the ones whose numbers have faded into nonexistence since they have stopped ticking by. But not everyone has a fairy tale ending, a happily ever after.
