"Hey, Lyd what's-" greeted her sister when she answered her phone.

"Why is there a photo of you leaving a club with Bruno Mars?" she demanded.

"Fuck!" Vanessa swore. "We, uh, dated for a time."

"'Dated' as in boyfriend and girlfriend or 'dated' as in-"

"The second choice. I wanted more, but he was happy with the arrangement as it was. We had a huge argument about it and I dumped him, " Vanessa said.

"You're gonna apologize to Dave," Lydia said abruptly.

"What! Why?!"

"Because if the paps know, Dave will know, you dumbass! Some prick from Inside Edition or Access Hollywood will stick a camera in his face and enquire as to your affair and that's how he'll know. Remember Carlos?"

Vanessa was silent. Carlos had been her high school sweetheart, but dumped her abruptly in the middle of her junior year. He didn't even have the balls to do it face to face, but had one of his friends do it on his behalf. Lydia had to be prevented from physically going up to Carlos and kicking his ass.

"Ok," she said quietly, and hung up.
