Save Me

Chapter 9

Beau hated ships.

They shook and rolled.

They made her stomach roll with the waves.

Thankfully, the ginger had worked.

Her stomach had calmed enough to let her eat and drink.

Beau through couldn't get out of bed.

Mulan and Philip had put both feet down declaring her bedridden.

She was alone in the small room for all three people.

Philip was helping out on the ship.

Beau had no idea what Mulan was doing.

The warrior had pulled away after the seasickness had been cured.

It made her chest hurt.

Beau thought Mulan liked her.

She thought they were friends.

Beau thought maybe she was wrong.

Maybe she was just Mulan's charge.

Maybe Mulan didn't care at all.

The idea made Beau's eyes water.

She bit her lip to make it stop.

Nothing made sense.

She felt alone all over again.

Beau decided to just stay away from Mulan then.

If Mulan didn't need Beau, she didn't need Mulan.

Right?

The mentioned warrior walked into the room.

Mulan hadn't spoken or been near Beau since the ginger had worked.

Beau turned her back and kept her eyes on the wall.

She heard the footsteps and something being rustled.

Beau heard the footsteps nearing the bed.

The bed sagged under Mulan's armor's weight.

She kept her eyes forward.

Beau felt Mulan lay down beside her.

What was going on?

Didn't Mulan want to stay away from her?

Mulan was giving her whiplash.

A arm went around Beau's waist and she froze.

Mulan was breathing into her ear they were so close.

Beau forgot why she was hurt and angry.

She steadily relaxed to the grip.

Maybe Mulan did still like her.

Maybe Mulan had just been worried.

There were so many maybes.

Beau drowsily asked herself which one it was before she fell asleep.
