Burning Embers
I was only fifteen years old. I shouldn't be worrying about whether or not there's enough food for my family or if someone I love will be shipped off for slaughter... but in life at District 12 that's all people think about. Parents watch their children stand in crowds, dreading the chance of hearing their child's name called. Brothers and sisters are divided, hoping their siblings aren't called, but praying it isn't them.
The Games change everything.
I was about to find that out better than I ever imagined.
The Games change everything.
I was about to find that out better than I ever imagined.
- cinnamon freckles and bright blue eyes
- the cost of happiness is so high
- afraid for my loved ones
- the odds were not in our favor
- i was walking on eggshells
- endless awkward stares of pity
- jealousy nipping at my heart
- disappointment in his eyes
- crumple into a million pieces
- hiding in their eyes
- i don't want to be alone
