That Magical Summer

That magical summer1

You walked against the cold, molding planks along the deck. You breathed in the smell of a fresh catch of fish. You dried the tears from your cheeks and sat down cross-legged. This is it, you told yourself. Let’s make this a carefree summer, a summer to get away from it all. A summer to forgive and forget. Try not to cry, and try not to miss him. A white seagull ripped through the blinding air above you, letting out a distant cry. You gave the seagull all your regrets, all your secrets, all your worries. And watched it fly away with them at hand.
