“It’s such a relief that spring is finally here.”
“Yeah, no more having to worry about the Snow Queen freezing all of us in our houses at night.”
“I always get so nervous during winter, knowing how strong she is…”
Curled up in the branches of a cherry blossom tree, Jack watched the citizens bustle around below, eyes dark as their words drifted up to her ears.
“Even the kids are excited for it to be warm enough for swimming.”
“I haven’t heard my little ones complain once this year, either.”
“Aren’t they usually upset because of Jack Frost? I guess all of them are growing up.”
Choking back a sob, the winter-girl rolled to show her back to the excited crowd below, ignoring the frost that spread across her perch as petals fell around her.
“Stupid spring…Stupid flowers…”
Rubbing at her eyes in an attempt to rid herself of tears, Jack hugged her knees close, miserable.
“Stupid…”
