Rivers of Red

Rivers of Red

The red is mesmerizing. It flows uninterrupted along the smooth terrain. She knows it’s a bad habit, but the blades are so inviting. The scars left on her skin show her that wounds heal, but they still leave their mark. They’re gone, but not forgotten.

She cuts deeper and deeper until she can’t stop the blood anymore. The heat starts in her arms and spreads to the rest of her body. Her vision starts to blur. The world begins to get darker and darker as the edges of her vision become blacker and blacker.

Eventually, she succumbs to the dreariness. The calmness and peacefulness draws her in. It feels so good. It’s better than she has ever imagined. She falls deeper, deeper, deeper until it’s done. Over. never to be pained again.
