Drowning in the Waves.

005.

Matt sat in his house and stared at the clothing that lay in piles on the floor. Gena had been over with Zack and attempted to help clean up.
Reds, darks, whites. His mouth gapped open as he looked at the knobs and buttons on the washing machine. What the fuck. he thought to himself and rubbed his temples. He didn't even want to bother, if it didn't have a stain, he would wear it. Along with the lack of clean clothes, he also had a lack of food. His stomach growled and he still had managed not to go grocery shopping since he moved in.

Day 21: British kid on Xbox live is being a dick. Friend turned enemy, will ambush soon. Food storage is at an all time low, surviving off of tortilla chips and ketchup. Hope dwindling.

He groaned out and was about to pick up the phone to call for Chinese when he realized the massive amount of cars parked on his street. All the cars were extremely nice and the people walking out of them were dressed to the T. Matt watched them stroll into the Robert's house and at the same time Reese struggled with a heavy box on the side yard. He grinned and practically ran out side to meet her.

"Need help?" His voice was deep and rough. Reese looked up at Matt, the loud pounding of a jazz band poured throughout the night sky.
"Please," she laughed. "Mrs. Roberts is making the kids crash at my place because she's having a party. Lucy and J are in the car, it's this stupid crib that's the problem."
Matt picked up the box with such ease it almost turned her on. She thanked him quietly and followed behind to her car.
"Matt!" Jason screamed from the back seat. "You're coming with us right? Reese he's coming with us, huh?"
Matt raised an eyebrow at Reese and flashed her those dimples. She didn't even bother to resist.
"Get in," she mumbled and turned the ignition.

She didn't live that far, off of Bristol in Costa Mesa. Although, Reese was almost embarrassed of her home. It was a small one bedroom apartment and the outside was pretty run down. Compared to Matt's house, she felt like a peasant.
As if he could almost sense her feelings, he put a comforting hand on her knee and rubbed his thumb in slow circles. In the moonlight, his features were incredible and drowned out the back chatter of Jason.
Matt was the first out the car door, he opened her side and then quickly went to unstrap Lucy from her seat.
"Pizza and movies!" Jason roared and slung his backpack over his shoulder.
"Pizza and movies, of course!" Reese rubbed his head and unlocked the door.
"Go put your stuff in my room, you get the bed and Ill try to assemble your sisters crib." Jason nodded and Reese grabbed out a screw driver.

Matt took to the crib like a champ. He had it set up in five minutes flat without even reading the directions. Reese couldn't help but admire him. A strange feeling overcame her as she took in her surroundings. Lucy was in her crib sleeping and J was on the couch waiting anxiously for the pizza to arrive. It almost felt like a family, she was the mother and Matt was the loving, hands on father. Reality hit her and she shook the feelings away, almost disgusted by herself for thinking that. The doorbell buzzed and Reese took out the cash Mrs. Roberts had given her.
The three sat down on the couch, Jason in between the two with the warm box on his lap.
"How about we watch Ghost Busters?" Matt asked as he flipped through Netflix.
"What's that?" Jason said curiously.
""What's that?!"" Matt yelled dramatically. "How have you not seen Ghost Busters!" Jason just shook his head, he almost looked disappointed, like he had let Matt down. "Okay, okay. We're watching this, this is my childhood."
The movie started and both Reese and Matt were singing along. Every once and a while they would glance over at each other and sometimes Matt would even wink, a permanent smirk on his lips. Reese covered Jason's eyes on the blow job scene and Matt just laughed hysterically.
But as the movie went on and slowed down a bit, Jason fell asleep. His head was on Matt's arm and a soft snore left his mouth.
"You awake?" Matt whispered, he raised his arm and touched Reese's cheek.
"Yeah," she sighed. Matt's hand trailed down her neck softly, then her shoulder, and down to her hand. Their fingers laced.
The movie kept playing but Matt wasn't watching it, his gaze was on her. He didn't care that Jason lay in between them, if anything he loved it. It made him feel apart of something, it flashed him into the future. Without warning, he pick J up and walked him into her bedroom.
Matt stared down at the kid, for a moment he imagined Jason as his own then his mind wandered to his beautiful wife that lay on the couch still.

Blankets covered her as she moved from the couch to the floor. Matt hovered above her with a look in his eye. "May I join?" He spoke barely above a whisper. Reese didn't say a thing, she just opened up the covers and let him crawl in. He propped himself on his elbow and stared down at her. She was beautiful, every damn thing about her was flawless. She absent-mindedly snuggled against his chest and he wrapped on arm around her waist. Her heartbeat soothed him as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Matt woke to her face in the crook of his neck and her limbs draped around his body. He slowly slid out, not a sound was heard throughout the house. He went straight for the kitchen but it startled him. The cabinets were completely empty, only a brand new box of pancake mix was there. The fridge was desolate too, a box of old Mexican food and a fortune cookie still wrapped lay in it. Matt just assumed it was because she was always at Jason and Lucy's house, that is, until he walked over to the small wooden table against the kitchen wall. Letters were scattered everywhere and a note book with schedules and numbers scratched all over it, sat on top. He didn't want to be nosy but before he could catch himself, he was reading what was in the envelopes. "PAST DUE""OVER DUE" "URGENT: FINAL NOTICE."
Matt sucked in his breath. It was for late rent, her phone was being shut off, and her car insurance was going to drop her.

Reese tried as hard as she could to maintain a life for herself. Her father sent her money every month but what was a lousy 100 dollars compared to the almost 2,000 she paid every month. Reese could have asked her Uncle Tom for money but she never wanted to intrude, he had boys of his own and she was too stubborn anyways.

"What are you doing?" Matt snapped around quickly, dropping the letters.
"Hey Kid," he breathed and tried to slow his heart rate.
"I'm going to wake up Reese for breakfast. She makes the best pancakes Matt, you gotta try 'em!"
Matt nodded and followed Jason into the living room.
Reese was already up. She looks so beautiful, he thought.
"Time for my world famous banana chocolate chip pancakes?" She grumbled and rubbed her eyes. "Wait for me at the table, I'm going to go brush my teeth."
Reese stood up and Matt followed her into the bathroom. She didn't put up a fight as he shut the door behind them and stared at her intensely.
"I wanted to wake up to you," She admitted quietly. He never took his eyes off of her as he stepped closer, chest against chest.
"Don't worry," he breathed against her neck. "That won't be the last time." His voice sent shivers down her spine and his hand reached around, tangling his fingers in her messy hair. She closed her eyes, waiting for his lips to land on hers but instead they fell on her forehead, then to her nose and trailed down her jaw bone. "We have Zack's barbecue today, remember." The octave never changed, still barely above a whisper. "Well be spending the whole day together." That wink.
"And if I pay my cards right, maybe the whole night." With that, he kissed her jaw and left out the door. Reese stood there for a moment touching her face and the rest of her skin to make sure that had really happened. She quickly washed her face, brushed her teeth, changed Lucy's diaper, and got out into the kitchen.

"These are amazing," Matt groaned as he took his last bite of the pancakes. "Jack Johnson doesn't have shit on you," he laughed.
The rest of the time was spent taking down Lucy's crib and getting the kids rounded up. She had to get them back by one so their grandparents could pick them up. It was almost 12:30. Reese rushed to make her self look decent for the barbecue. Her long black hair was down in its natural waves, or frizz as Reese would say self consciously, and she wore a white sundress.
"Ready?" She asked as she walked from her bedroom. Matt's jaw dropped. He could barely even moved, she looked so beautiful. He just wanted to run over there and rip that dress off, touch her all over, and just kiss her. That's all he wanted to do since the day he met her, just kiss her. The group got in the car and headed back home. Matt saw his truck in the driveway and smiled at Reese.
"Matt and Jason are going to be there. When's the last time you saw them?"
"Jeez," Reese gasped. "About a year." She parked the car in front of Matt's house and let the kids out. They said their goodbyes and Jason took Lucy inside.
Reese and Matt were left, they climbed into his truck and headed down to Zack's house.
"We were never really close, they did their own thing in high school and after they went off with your band. I just went to school and moved out. We didn't really make time for each other." She admitted.
"Oh I see," Matt smiled. "Well if you keep hanging out with me, you'll see a lot more of them."
Reese nodded and listened to Pantera as it played through the stereo.

The house was massive, almost right on the beach with a beautiful pool in the back. "Can I hold your hand?" Matt whispered in Reese's ear as they walked up the pathway to Zack's front door. Her nerves kicked in and she shoved her small hand into his.
"Mattie!" Gena smiled, "you made it! You must be Reese," The bleach blond haired woman smiled at the both of them. "Come on," she ushered them into her home and in the backyard. Sitting on patio chairs, were Jimmy, Zack, a few girls and none other than Brian Haner.
"My oh my." Brian gasped. "Reese fucking Berry." He jumped up and hugged her immediately. "How are you? First let me ask, what the fuck are you doing with Matt?" He laughed.
"Brian Haner," Reese smiled. "I'm good, very good. How are you?"
"Great! This is my wife Michelle. Michelle, this is Reese Berry, Matt and Jason's cousin slash the girl who saved my ass in high school."
"Hi Reese!" She smiled and hugged her. They all love hugs, she thought.
"Speaking of the devil," a deep voice spoke behind her. "Little Reese, it's been too long." Jason Berry stood tall with a grin plastered on his face. A short man with bleach blond hair, the one she recognized from the bar a while ago, stood next to him.
"Hi Jason," she smiled and awkwardly gave him a side huge.
"This short shit right here is Johnny," Jason laughed and punched him extremely hard in the arm. Reese was a little overwhelmed by all the new people she was meeting but all were easily accepting. Reese soon found her self at the patio table surrounded by the women she had just met, the guys were all drinking by the grill.
"I think it's really good that Matt found you," Lacey said.
"Yeah, as much as I would kill for Val, It was for the best and you guys seem really happy." Michelle smiled.
That's when Reese stopped her.
"Who's Val and what are you guys talking about?" The group of women just stared at her in disbelief for a moment. "We're not dating by the way," Reese blurted out. "We haven't even kissed yet."
"Oh my god," Leana squealed, "That's too cute! That means he likes you WAY more than we thought!"
"Val is my twin sister," Michelle spoke. "Matt and her were together before you. I don't think we should be the ones to tell you. I mean he probably just hasn't brought it up yet."
Reese nodded and took a swig of her beer. She glanced over at Matt, his hazel green eyes were lit up as he talked to Jimmy and his dimples were in full force as he laughed. Who was Val? When will he tell her? she thought to her self. She wouldn't want to pressure him to tell her, besides they barely knew one another and she still had secrets from him.
"You're such a babe," Gena chirped.
"A total hottie!" Leana agreed.
"You need to hang out with us sometime, we could always use an extra girl like a shows too."
All of the girls were extremely kind, including Michelle.
Reese felt comfortable in that backyard surrounded by all of Matt's friends. They were accepting and seemed free of judgement. She liked that. It had been a while since Reese had actually been around "friends." Work isolated her, especially when she needed to work all the time to get by.
Matt smiled at her from a distance and winked. He held his beer up in the air at her and mouthed, "hey beautiful." She just blushed.
She was falling hard for this man.

The night went on and all of them seemed to get a little too drunk. Reese had work in the morning so she took Matt's keys and helped him out to the car.
"God you're so sexy." He said from the passenger seat. "Watching you drive my car is such a turn on."
"You're drunk." She laughed.
"Not as drunk as you would think."
Reese bit her lip. "Please don't do that," he said quickly.
"Do what?"
"Bite that lip of yours." He almost hissed. "I can't handle that."
She did it again, a little more seductively to push boundaries. His hand roughly grabbed the inside of her bare thigh as she stopped at a red light. The hunger in his eyes was evident as he stared at her.
The skin beneath his finger tips was warm and soft, the way he had always imagined it. His fingers moved up slowly, his eyes on hers waiting for a stop sign. He felt the soft cotton material of her underwear and let his fingers slide carefully along the outline of them. His mouth moved to her shoulders, parting his lips he tasted the summer sweetness of her skin. "If you let me go any farther," he groaned out, "I won't be able to stop."
Reese still didn't say a word. Maybe it was the three beers she had that rocked her stubborn facade or maybe it was her lust for Matt in general.
The car was in park in the garage, they were surrounded by darkness.
His lips found hers. It wasn't perfect like you would see in movies, like a moment where they just both knew. It was a kiss that needed to happen. It was the hurdle they had to get over in order to hit the finish line.
The kiss was hungry and rough. Their hands were everywhere on each other's bodies. Matt pulled away and opened the car door, he ran to her side and pulled her out bridal style.
"Bedroom, couch, floor?" He couldn't keep his lips off of her.
"Kitchen," she gasped as his hand slid underneath her underwear, touching the spot that no man had been in years.
"My kind of woman," he growled in her ear and almost threw her on the dinning room table. His shirt was off in a matter of seconds and Reese stopped to admire his shape. She let her hands feel intimately all over, inhaling his scent and savoring inch. "You know exactly how to touch me." He breathed and let his head roll back as she trailed her nails down his chest.
Reese didn't say a word as he almost ripped the sun dress off her body. Soon enough there was no clothing barrier between the two and he was mounted on top of her.
"I haven't done this in a while." She admitted sheepishly. "The last person I slept with said I was horrible." She was always self conscious when she was having sex. It was the most vulnerable time for her. Matt slid into her and clenched his teeth from pleasure.
"That last guy was a fucking liar and an asshole. Because just being inside of you like this, is better than any sex I ever had."
Their hips began to rock against each other and the night slowly began to fade away. Only the sounds of the wooden table creaking and the soft whispers into one another's ears were heard.

This was typed out on my phone while I was at the beach so if it's REALLY shitty please tell me. Don't worry, the meat of the story is coming up in the next chapter. This stuff has to lead up to something right!?
