In each of the four branches of X live a different race of people. The Ebony, The Ivory, The Moreno, and The Canary.
Each ethnicity lives separately, but equally. It is not the color of their skin or their heritage that defines them. It is their racial purity. They are unadulterated, uncontaminated. An unpolluted individual is an upstanding, virtuous individual.
Underground, below the city, live the multiracial individuals, the polluted, The Latto.
Each channel keeps to itself, intermingling as little as possible, and never ever with any of The Latto.
