You Had Me at "I Hate You"

01

It took me exactly six years to decide on a profession. By the time I was seven, everyone else knew it too. This was probably because, ever since I discovered the wonders of journalism, I hadn't stopped talking. Fifteen years later, I still had it on the brain... But when I set out to become a news-worthy writer, The Gutter Press wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

It was just the sort of trashy magazine that was tacky enough to pride itself on being trashy.

My job isn't pretty. It wasn't the glamor I'd experienced at my internship for a local paper: the fast pacing of the work-day, the drastic, stomach churning deadlines, the investigatory articles.

The Gutter Press consisted of a few desks in a cheerily-painted office, and hours upon hours of celebrity and extraterrestrial scandals.

So, this is where the adventure begins, I suppose.

My life was about to change.
