Bipolar, Baby

I Think It's Guts That Matter Most

"I thought you didn't have a showing for a few more days?" Harry asked on the ride to the apartment.

"I didn't, but while you were in your shoot the guy texted me and said he could show me it today. I need a mans opinion to tell me if it's safe or not, and I'm not from here." Avery rambled before locking her phone and tossing it into Michael Kors purse.

"We're probably not the best lads for this job, I don't know shit about like...plumbing." Niall said, looking out the window.

"Plumbing? I'm not going to ask you to check the plumbing." Avery laughed, and Niall smiled. He quite enjoyed that sound.
"Just tell me if its a good neighborhood and if I'm getting a good deal."

"Well, do you have a price range?" Harry asked, though he felt alittle weird asking. As conceited as it sounded, money wasn't an issue for him, and he knew from the way Avery dressed and what Perrie had told him about her lifestyle, she made good money. Maybe even more than he did.

"Not really, I just want it to be a decent size in a good place. Preferably fully furnished so I don't have to go shopping." She said.

Harry nodded, and he couldn't help but feeling a little sad about Avery moving. He'd enjoyed having someone to come home to and tell about his day, just as a friend. And he loved having a girl around that wasn't trying to sleep with him.

"I'm going to miss cleaning up your messes." Avery drawled sarcastically. Harry looked at her, pretending to be offended. He dropped his mouth open and elbowed her in the side.

"I'm not messy." He defended. Niall practically snorted with laughter.

"That's a bunch of crap." Niall said between chuckles. Avery smiled at both the boys and looked out the window just in time to see the escalade pulling up to a lavish white building with a black fence around it.

There was a nice white car parked outside, which they all assumed was the real estate agent. Avery giggled excitedly and threw her purse over her shoulder. Harry ran a hand threw his hair and inhaled. This wasn't exactly exciting for him, because...he didn't really want her to leave.

"Let's go get you a home, yeah?" Niall said, mirroring Avery's excitement. They all shuffled out of the car and a man in a suit was waiting at the gate for them.

"Ah, you must be Avery." The man said, and Harry and Niall both noticed him rake his eyes up and down Avery. Niall's face tightened and Harry just wanted to roll his eyes in amusement, who did he think he was.

Avery noticed too, and thought maybe she could get the apartment for cheap if she used a little charm.

"Yes and you're Mr. Johnsteed." She greeted, leaning in to give him a quick kiss on both cheeks. He gladly returned the favor, the grin stretching across his face. Harry nearly scoffed.

"Please, call me Logan." He insisted, pushing his blonde hair back from his eyes.

"Will do. Logan, this is Niall and this is Harry." She introduced, and the boys, dispite their premature dislike for the fellow, shook his hand anyway.

"Ah, yes, I know who they are. Little sister's a fan." He added quickly. Harry figured he'd be asked to sign something later.

"Are you looking for a new apartment for you and your boyfriend...?" Logan trailed off, glancing between the three of them.

"Oh no, just for myself." Avery corrected, smiling at the man. Logan's face clearly lit up, and this time Harry actually rolled his eyes. Thankfully, Harry noted, Logan was too busy oogling over Avery he didn't notice.

"Well, let's get to it." Logan decided, typing in a code on the keypad to open the main gate. Inside the gate there was a huge courtyard with well taken care of hedges and plants. Avery liked the way it looked, even if it was a little old looking.

"The main doors go right to a lobby of sorts, with a waiting area for guests, and security guards. You wouldn't be the only famous face living here. Many rather successful people live in this area." Logan explained as the trio followed him through the courtyard to the main doors, and into the lobby. It was a medium sized room with a high ceiling and a few expensive looking couches and a directory on one wall, with a security guard sitting at a desk. Logan nodded at the man who returned the favor.

Logan led them to the lift and hit level 16, which appeared to be the top floor.

"All the way on the top?" Avery asked, not sure if she wanted to live above people. What if she wanted people over?

"Yes ma'am, is that not okay?" Logan asked, as the elevator started to ascend. He was standing extra close to her, Niall on her other side eyeing him up. Niall got a bad taste from this guy, like he thought he had a chance with Avery or something. Which, admittedly, shouldn't have bothered the blonde, but it did.

"I'm just worried if I have company or something. I'm friends with this lot, they aren't very quiet." Avery chuckled, glancing at Harry who smiled lightly and shook his head. He was very abnormally quiet, Avery couldn't help but wonder why.

"Oh, no worries about that, love. The floors, ceilings, walls are all completely padded and sound-proof. You could jump up and down, drop something heavy, anything, the neighbors below, or next to you would never hear a peep." Logan explained, staring at Avery all the while.

"That's fantastic!" Niall chirped, knowing Avery would gladly host parties and such at her house. She loved entertaining people. Avery nodded happily, and Harry's mood worsened even more. Oh great, MORE perfect things about the apartment he didn't even want her to get.

The lift doors opened and Logan led her down the hallway to apartment number One. Avery wanted to laugh ironically, apartment one, one direction. It was like fate. Logan stuck the key in the door and opened it to reveal a huge, open living room with a open-concept kitchen. The living room was white with a navy blue accent wall, and big, comfy looking navy furniture with white and blue pillows. It was extremely well decorted and modern, Avery nearly fainted at how perfect it was.

"My god," She gushed, starting to wander around the house.

"Guys! Come on." She urged, waving at the boys to follow her. Niall happily trotted up to her, and Harry sauntered behind.

"This is so nice." Niall admitted, peaking in the different rooms. It was only a two bedroom, one master and one guest, and they were both fully furnished and completely gorgeous. The bathroom was huge. Everything was beautifully decorated and lavish. Harry knew it was just like Avery; put together, chic, and expensive.

"Harry, what do you think?" Avery asked, catching Harry off guard as he was leaning against the door way of the master bedroom that Niall and Avery were standing in.

"It's very you." He said honestly.

"Well, that doesn't tell me anything. Do you like it, is it in a good neighborhood?" She rambled, searching his face for answers. She just wanted his approval.

"It's nice. And yeah, the neighborhood is fine." He answered shortly.

"What's up with you mate?" Niall asked, raising an eybrow at his friend. Usually Harry was rather out going, and he'd be looking around and making jokes. Harry crossed his arms over his chest.

"Just tired." He said, which wasn't really a lie. "Ave, you can't just get the first apartment you see."

"That's true....but it is really perfect." She said, running a few fingers throug her long silky hair.

"It's a decent price too." Logan chirped in, the three barely remembered that he was there.

"Yeah, how much a month?"

"About 2500." Logan said, smiling at Avery.

"That's not bad." Avery admitted.

"Don't jump into anything. If you find another one you like later and you're stuck with this you'll regret it." Harry urged, realizing his opinion could sway her. He straightened up and threw a lopsided grin on his face.

"That's true as well..." Avery trailed off, looking around the room.

"And you're not much of a navy blue person, I can tell by the color of ninety percent of your wardrobe you'd prefer it to be black and white." He teased.

"Shut up, Styles. I wear color sometimes." She joked. It was true though, she did stick to neutrals.

"There's a couple coming to look at it later today, so it's now or never." Logan interjected, clearly hoping to get the sale, and please the girl.

"Hmmm.." Avery mumbled as she contemplated if she was ready to commit to this one.

"You don't even know your way around town." Harry continued, walking over closer to Avery.

Niall's eyebrows raised again, confused at Harry's sudden attitude check.

"Yeah." Avery agreed, still glancing around the room like the answer would be sitting on a shelf somewhere.

"And you haven't bought a vehicle yet, and your car in L.A. has the wrong steering wheel." He continued, racking his brain for more reasons to keep her from signing a lease. "And you haven't picked an office space here yet, it could be on the other side of town from this."

"God, you're right. I can't make this decision right now, there's too many other factors. Logan, thank you for your time, but I don't think this is the one." Avery decided, glancing sideways at Niall who looked surprised at how easily she was swayed by Harry's opinion.

"Oh, uh, alright, well I have a few more places in mind, but you'll have to wait until next week to look at them..." Logan trailed off, looking to Avery for a decision.

Avery looked over at Harry, who raised his eyebrows.

"What are you asking me for?" He asked, smirking.

"Because I'm staying at your place! Are you okay if I stay there another week?" She said, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I don't know, another whole week? That's asking a lot." Harry said jokingly, putting his finger on his chin like he was thinking hard about it.

"You arse. Yeah, next week is fine." Avery answered and Logan nodded, clearly disappointed he didn't make the sale.

The four walked back out to the car and Logan slipped his business card to Avery once they arrived.

"I already have your number." Avery said, taking the card in her hand.

"Not the one on the back." He said slyly, before waving and trotting off to his card.

Harry and Niall looked at each other with the same 'you've got to be kidding me' face.

She flipped the card over and in very boyish hand writing it said 'Logan :)' and his PERSONAL number scrawled across it.

Avery let out a light chuckle and slipped it into her bag. They scooted into the escalade and told the driver to take them to their respective homes.

"That guy was awful." Harry groaned, happy to be away from the ever so flirty Logan.

"Really? I thought he was lovely." Avery smiled, saying that just to push Harry's buttons.

"Yes because he looked at you like you were the bloody Queen." Harry scoffed.

"Oh calm down Harold." She laughed it off.

"Niall you'll come with me next week right?" She asked, smiling at him expectantly.

"If you want me to, yeah." He agreed happily.

"Aren't you going to ask me?" Harry quipped.

"I live with you, it's a given you'll be coming." She said fondly. He liked the idea of her just assuming he'd be with, like he was a permanent feature in her ilfe. He relaxed, satisfied with the answer.

Soon enough they arrived to the place Niall would be getting off, and with a quick goodbye Niall pranced into his flat.

The car started to take off again before Harry spoke up.

"He thinks you're fit." Harry stated.

"Oh, come off it, he was just trying to sell me a flat-"

"No, not him. Niall, Niall thinks you're fit." Harry corrected, gauging her reaction. To his surprised, she didn't try to deny it, she actually smiled.

"He's cute." She said simply, just like she had said to Perrie.

"Really? He doesn't seem like your type." Harry said surprised.

"He isn't...I guess. I don't know. I don't really have a type, and if I do I haven't quite figured it out yet." She said, looking over at him.
She took a moment to respect how gosh dang attractive Harry was, and how thousands of girls would probably love to be sitting in the back of an escalade with him.
Little did she know, he was thinking pretty close to the same thing about her.

"He's blonde." Harry pointed out.

"Thank you, I know." Avery half scoffed, half laughed. "Thanks for coming with me today."

"Any time, love."

"Hey Harry?"

"Yes?"

"Let's have a flatmate movie night." She smiled widely. "We can watch sappy romance movies and eat raw cookie dough."

"You do know I'm not Perrie, right?"

"Yes, but she's busy with Zayn tonight." She frowned, and Harry chuckled and shook his head.

"Sure, as long as it's not the Notebook."

**********************

They arrived at their flat a few moments later, and Harry was surprised to see some papparazzi waiting a few doors down. Legally they couldn't stand too close to his property.

"Weird, they're never around here." Harry mused.

"Should I be worried?" Avery asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Nah, well....maybe." He chuckled. The escalade pulled up and rolled to a stop.

"Get ready." Harry advised, allowing her to file out first. He came quickly behind her and led her into the flat, keeping his head low. There were a few flashes but nothing crazy, and soon they were safely in the lift.

"That wasn't bad, you made it sound like I was going to get mugged." Avery sighed lightly, leaning back against the wall of the lift.

"They aren't allowed on my property, that's why." He informed her, mimicking her actions.

"I can see the headlines already; 'Styles Brings Home Mystery Girl'." Avery joked, smiling at him.

"I'm sure." He laughed, "I haven't told my management or publicist that you're living with me yet."

"What why!?" She exclaimed, knowing that without some damage control, this could get ugly.

"I didn't want them to freak out over a few days of you being here. But now, I suppose, since it's been longer, I should let them know." He explained.

"You're going to drive me mad." She laughed, before the lift doors opened and she raced him into the apartment for their first movie night.
