Behind Enemy Lines

"I really need to train you on how not to pass out every time you come in contact with a werewolf." Derek sighed as I came to.

"Really Derek?" A guy I had never seen before gave him a look.

"W-What the hell happened? Where's Isaac? And Melissa? Am I even in the hospital?" I asked as I sat up. I winced as a a sharp pain shot up my back.

"You're in my old home. I'm just getting something and then we're heading back to the loft. Isaac's right next to you." Derek said as he bent down near a large crack in the floor.

"I'm Scott." The new guy introduced himself. "You okay?"

"I'll heal." I brushed it off. "You're Melissa's son, right?" He nodded. "I thought Isaac said you're not in the pack anymore?"

"Just because I'm not in Derek's pack doesn't mean I can't help a friend." Scott seemed nice. He was attractive too, but not in the way Isaac was.

"I know I'm not exactly a friend, but, could you tell me what happened?"

"I'm not exactly sure." Scott sat down next to me. "Neither is Derek. I came because my mom called. Derek showed up when I was getting attacked. We found you in a closet."

"I knew that wasn't a waiting room."

Scott laughed a little. "What do you mean by that?"

"The nurse that came to give Isaac his anesthetic. She told me she was taking me to the waiting room but I think I blacked out on the way there."

"Great, you mean there were more there?" Derek groaned as he stood up, his hands full with a flower I recognized as wolfsbane.

"Like an entire pack?" Scott asked him.

"Don't worry about it. I'm taking care of it."

"What's wolfsbane for?" I eyed the blooms in Derek's hand, swinging my legs back and forth.

"Isaac. And you. Mostly Isaac." He said it so casually, like he wasn't talking about using a plant that's poisonous to us all.

"But that could kill us."

"Not when you use it to heal from an alpha attack." I had no idea what he was planning, but I went along with it. Isaac said he trusted him, so I would, too.

"Told you I'd be here when you woke up." I smiled, taking a seat on Isaac's bed.

"Shouldn't I be waking up in the hospital?" he asked, sitting up slightly and resting on his elbows.

"There were a few...complications." I said with a laugh.

"What kind of complications?"

"You're gonna have to ask Derek. I passed out on my way to the closet I was told was the waiting room."

"Wait, you mean they went after you, too?"

"Isaac, they went after all of us." I looked down at my hands in my lap. "But don't worry, Derek and Scott are fine and I've healed."

"And Melissa?"

"Totally fine. Now stop worrying. You're the one who was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after getting hurt and shit." I said, standing up and placing my hands on my hips. "Now, do you need anything? Derek told me to come see him once you woke up."

Isaac turned away for a second. I would've assumed he was thinking had I not seen the look in his eyes when he looked back up at me. "I think I'm good for now. Probably just gonna go back to sleep."

"Okay." I said with a nod, and headed out of the room and down the stairs. Derek was sitting in his usual spot on the couch.

"I'm assuming Isaac's awake?" He asked me, looking up.

"Was up, but going back to sleep now." I replied, taking a seat next to him. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

"The day Isaac went missing." Derek let out a heavy sigh.

"I swear I had no idea he was going to leave when I found him down here." I was quick to defend myself.

"Yeah, but I did."

"You what?" I was shocked.

"Isaac and I have been searching for the two missing members of our pack. He kept telling me he knew where they were, but I didn't believe him. So he went on his own."

"So he found them?"

"I think."
