A New Life
I was floating in a river of nothing. I was nothing, I felt nothing. Wait... what is that dull piercing sound? Is that someone yelling? Who am I? Where am I? Oh, I remember I was hit by a car. I must be dead, but if I'm dead why is it so loud. So much for resting in peace. I want the noise to fade. I just want to sleep.
"Sir, we are losing her again!" A distant voice shouted. Are they talking about me? I was starting to fade back into the blackness when a shock went through my chest. I cracked my eyes open to blinding white lights. People were crowded around me. I closed my eyes against the harsh light, then I felt the pain. It was a burning all over my body.
"She is stabilized, now let's getting going on her injuries." A man said pointedly. I just want the pain to stop. Please stop the pain. Those were my last thoughts before losing consciousness. Little did I know that when I would awake again I would be meeting two very interesting characters.
