No Place Like Home

i do care and i won't apologize for that

It had been another long day and the only thing Loren wanted to do was to get into her pajamas and watch a movie. When she got home she was relieved to see that no one else was up so she quickly changed and grabbed The Hunger Games from her movie collection and made her way downstairs. She set up the movie first and while that was playing through the previews she warmed up the calzone she bought from work. Loren settled on the couch and got as comfortable as she could, wrapping herself up in the blanket and starting the movie.

Even when the movie started she couldn't really concentrate on it and all she could think about was Hunter and why he was still avoiding her. It's been a few days since the living room fiasco and she thought she at least deserved an apology for how he tested her at work. Regardless of the drama, she kind of misses him. On her day off the other day she got to hang out with Colton and they got along really well and she was even able to spend some quality time with her brother and later that evening the trio went out to eat together and it was just really nice and she wished that Hunter was there. It frustrated her because she shouldn't miss him, she shouldn't want to see him or anything of the sort. What he did was wrong and she can't allow him to just get away with it because she has weird feelings about him. Not to mention that she's only been living there a week and she told herself she is not allowed to miss Colton or Hunter since she just met them.

It's just so different living with them, apart from the obvious. Someone is usually around and wanting to hang out so she doesn't have to hide in her room all day by herself. She's finally getting to know people and she gets to hang out with them all the time with no real restrictions and she couldn't be happier about it honestly. So maybe that's why she misses Hunter because she was somehow already used to his company. And she still stands by the fact that she didn't want to cause any problems in the house and having this weird issue with him is just going against what she wanted and it sucks. It just really sucks and Loren doesn't know how to fix it.

"You're back." Loren jumped at looked behind her to see Hunter walking into the living room.

"Yeah I got home a bit ago. Did I wake you?"

Hunter shook his head no, "Can I join you?"

"Uhm yeah sure."

Loren moved from the middle of the couch to the left side so Hunter would have room to sit down as well, he of course chose to sit right next to Loren. They watched the movie in silence for a while when Hunter finally spoke up.

"I'm sorry." Hunter apologized. "I'm sorry for reacting the way I did about the bike and I'm sorry about your first night at work. It was supposed to be a joke but it didn't come off that way."

"Oh. Well, apology accepted." Loren told him, ready to get whatever happened behind them. "Why did you react that way?"

Hunter shrugged, "I really don't know. I guess cause I'm not used to people having to steal money from their parents."

"Oh." Loren repeated but this time she stayed silent.

"I wasn't judging you, I promise. And I do care and I won't apologize for that."

"I wouldn't want you to apologize for caring. I just don't see why you do. You only just met me."

"True." Hunter spoke. "I don't know why exactly, I just do."

Loren smiled at him, "Thank you." She told him. "For caring."

"You're welcome."

"I would offer you some food but I guess I ate it all." Loren frowned starring at her empty container.

Hunter laughed, "Its okay. Oh do you want some ice cream?"

"Yeah sure."

"Alright well pause the movie."

"This requires getting up?"

Hunter laughed again and moved the blanket off of Loren, "Yes and putting on shoes and a jacket."

"It's the middle of summer, do I need a jacket?"

"You might. Better safe than sorry."

Loren couldn't argue with that so she ran upstairs and slipped on her vans and put on her pink Victorias Secret sweatshirt. She also grabbed her phone and wallet just in case and ran back down the stairs almost slamming into Hunter in the process.

"Easy tiger." Hunter told her steadying her.

Loren blushed, "Sorry."

"It's okay now come on! Adventure is out there."

"I was hiding under your porch because I love you." Loren quoted.

"What?"

"I was quoting Up. Ya know when Doug says that."

"Oh right okay. I thought you were talking crazy for a second."

"Rude."

Hunter just laughed and unlocked her door for her.

"Do you want to pick the music?" He asked her beginning to hand her his phone.

"Nope."

"Hm okay."

Suddenly Pierce the Veil was being blasted in the car and Loren could hardly believe that he listens to another one of her favorite bands. She couldn't help but text Heather about it.

to Heather
Hunter and I made up. Also he's taking me for late night ice cream. Also he listens to PTV.

Loren did her best at not singing along but eventually she couldn't help it. Hunter simply smiled at her and joined along turning the music up a little louder.

from Heather
these are strong powers he posses. be careful with this one. by the way mark turner and I are going on a date tomorrow night. MARK TURNER.

Loren couldn't help but laugh feeling overjoyed that her best friend gets to go on a date with her high school crush. When they were in high school it's like the two bad some form of make repellent, not like Loren could actually date anyway, and now that they are out of school each of them have some new crush and Loren can't help but find the situation amusing. She questioned her for the details of how that date came to be and focused back on Hunter singing. He wasn't perfect by any means and honestly she would even say he kind of sucked but he was so into it and it was incredibly endearing.

Hunter turned into a little plaza that was completely deserted except for one small shop called 'Everything Ice Cream'.

"Is this place even open?" Loren asked once he parked.

"Yup, its 24/7."

"This could get me in trouble." Loren said as they walked in, "I don't need a 24/7 ice cream shop in my life."

"Oh yes you do, you definitely do. Have I steered you wrong when it comes to food?"

"No and that's part of the problem."

Hunter laughed loudly causing everyone in the small shop to stare at him. Loren couldn't stare at him laughing or she'd start analyzing how cute his smile is it how his eyes crinkle and that's something she definitely doesn't need.

"What are you getting?" Loren asked him standing on the tips of her toes to see into the cases.

"A third peanut butter, chocolate and coffee."

"Oh man that sounds good."

"It is. What are you going to get?"

"I don't know yet. I guess maybe mint chocolate chip and chocolate."

"That sounds good too. You have to let me try some."

"Only if I can try yours."

"But of course."

The two ordered, Hunter paying as Loren chose a booth to sit out. Once Hunter was sitting down they switched ice creams then switched back quickly. As they had their ice cream they talked about Hunter's manager position at Famous Footwear. Although they finished their ice cream fairly quickly they stayed seat and continued to talk until Loren just couldn't stop yawning. She felt bad about it but Hunter was doing the same thing so they decided to just head home so they can get some sleep. When they got home Loren headed to her room first stopping in the hallway to say goodnight to Hunter. When Hunter was finally close enough he surprised her by wrapping his arms around her in a hug. Loren hugged him back and tried not to smell his shirt and ultimately failed.

"Goodnight Hunter." Loren spoke as she finally pulled away.

"Night Lo."
