Insanity

Gone Again

Dean’s P.O.V.

It had been about a week since the case with the pagan god went down and it was the first time that I was alone with Sam again. I needed to talk to him about what I saw in that orchard to make sure he had seen it too and to make sure that I wasn’t just seeing things, though I was confident in what I saw and in my theory. I had been feeling like something was off with this whole thing for a while but what I saw in the forest just gave me a solid idea of exactly why. "Sam, we need to talk about the girls." I muttered quietly, walking across the room and taking the seat across the table from him. I had heard the shower start in the room next to ours and assumed it would give me the privacy needed if I was right. I sighed and ran a hand over my face, watching my brother lift his gaze from his computer to me.

"Why?" Sam questioned, a frown crossing his face as he slowly closed his computer, probably from reading my face and seeing how serious I was. I shifted my weight a bit and ran my thumb over the top of my beer bottle, taking a moment to pop it off with the palm of my hand before lifting the bottle to my lips and tilting my head back, letting the cool liquid fill my mouth and slide down my throat. I wasn’t sure how Sam would react to my ideas, though I was hoping he’d understand and not get angry even if I was wrong. He had seemed to click with Alice immediately and I was hoping she wasn’t in on this with her sister… if it even really was her sister.

"I think Akuma's a demon." I blurted out, filling my mouth with beer and letting it sit for a moment before I swallowed the dry flavour and met Sam’s eyes with a calm expression. His eyes were filled with the sudden shock that quickly spread over his face as he straightened up in his chair, cleared his throat and leaned forward, the confusion turning into a deep frown that caused creases on his forehead.

"What? Dean... That's… That's a big accusation to make without any proof! What the actual hell?" Sam said, his voice rising as he spoke. His look of shock moved more towards a mixture of anger and fear, which seemed to reflect his vocal tension. In the orchard I had been terrified when I saw how black Akuma’s eyes were. I wasn’t sure at first but the more I thought about it, the more it solidified in my mind that I had seen everything correctly. It would fit with her temper and how she was on the plane when we first met and Sam was doing the exorcism… she had to leave and I wasn’t sure why it had knocked her out cold for so long, but it was all starting to make sense.

“Didn’t you see her eyes in the forest Sam? They were bright and blue while we were tied to that tree but just before we ran into the townspeople they were pitch black!” I went off, tightening my hand around the beer bottle and running a hand through my hair. He had a wall up and looked like he didn’t want to listen at all and it was annoying. I finished off what was left in the bottle and placed it on the table harder then I intentionally wanted to, my jaw clenching at the stubborn look on my brothers face.

“You were in an open space when you were tied to that tree Dean, the moon was probably shining off of her eyes then. But when we got to the townspeople we were all in dark. I could barely see anything and you looked like you could be a demon when I looked over at you.” He reasoned and I had to agree. It was darker when we got there, but I had gotten curious and looked into things, like the meaning of her name, and the incident on the plane was still bugging me. Not to mention surviving after losing so much blood after being kidnapped by those vampires. She shouldn’t have made it to the hospital let alone such a quick recovery. She stopped wearing the bandages and when she was only in a t-shirt I couldn’t even see scars on her arms.

“Her name literally means demon in Japanese, Sammy. Not to mention how she conveniently had to leave during the exorcism on the plane and then was knocked out cold for a few days.” I ranted, having to concentrate to keep my voice down. The shower had halted to a stop in the next room so I dropped my voice level a bit more. “All I’m saying is something’s been off since we met her… Alice might not even know, she seems to be good at hiding it most of the time….” I stood abruptly and moved, grabbing another beer from the fridge before returning, though I chose to remain standing this time.

“Lots of people name their kids weird things in other languages without knowing what it means. She has extreme claustrophobia, the room on the plane was tiny and packed with people and an actual demon. On the way out she fell and smacked her head off of one of the seats.” Sam ran a hand through his shaggy hair and moved his head from side to side, his neck cracking as he did so. He lifted a hand to his hair and shoved it back while I opened the beer and tossed the cap onto the table. Maybe he was right… he was making some really valid points. But even if he was right, there was something off about that woman. “It was also dark in that forest. You were stressed and thought you were going to die… we all did. And we just found out that dad is hunting the demon so that could have something to do with you imagining things. This entire month has been nothing but stress…”

“... But what if I’m right? What if she is and she’s been killing things… or humans… behind our back while we help protect her… what if she tries to kill us, all of us and that’s her master plan?!” I demanded, narrowing my eyes when Sam rolled his eyes before meeting my gaze again. He looked like he was trying to convince me to give up with just his eyes but if he was so convinced that I was wrong I needed to be convinced too. I didn’t care how much he spoke about stress, I had a gut feeling and these feelings were rarely wrong. I didn’t want to burn an innocent at the stake, but we had to be open to all options.

"If she's a demon then why is she killing so many of her kind and then some?" Sam asked raising his eyebrows at me as he stood up, a small smirk crossing his face. I really hadn’t thought about that, I had really only thought about the incriminating things that would back up my point. "We can't accuse her of anything without proof. If you really want to go start a fight with both of them go right ahead. But they’re both fiery and will take you down in a second.” He continued, his voice light and teasing though there was another tone to it, another emotion that I couldn’t recognize. But he was right. I wasn’t a hundred percent on my theory and I don’t have enough proof to go pointing fingers. Sam may be right, but there was something in my gut that told me there was still something wrong.

Akuma’s P.O.V.

By the time I stepped out of the shower my phone was beeping out of control, signalling mixed texts and voice mails. They were all from the same hunter, an old friend Isaac. I sighed heavily and wrapped a towel around my body and another around my hair before I picked up my phone and hit the call back button, pressing the device to my ear and leaning against the counter. It only rang once before it was picked up and I could hear Isaac panting on the other end, signalling that he was in some kind of trouble. I immediately felt my body tense and I straightened a bit. “Isaac? What’s going on?”

“Big hunt… Wendigo’s… Just... saved… can you… get here soon?” He panted harder, the sound of an engine filling the background as well as the sound of someone crying. I wasn’t sure how close to the border we were and I didn’t really want to go. I was constantly leaving Alice… but what I had heard Dean saying while I was in the shower… I needed to get away for a bit and maybe Alice could come… but Isaac was my friend too and he needed my help.

“I’m in the states so it might take a bit longer than usual but I’m close to the border. I’ll see if Alice can come too. Either just me or the both of us will be up there tomorrow night at the latest… do you think you can handle things for that long?” I pulled the towel off of my hair, using it to dry what was wet but left it damp as it fell around my shoulders. After his confirmation I hung up the phone and stepped out of the bathroom, quickly getting dressed.

Alice was sleeping on the bed and looked peaceful for the first time all week so I decided to let her sleep a bit longer, taking time to pack my things into a bag and pull on my boots and jacket before swinging the bag over my shoulder and stepping out of the room, moving to the door beside ours. I knocked once and smiled at Sam as he opened the door. “Hey.”

“Hey, come in.” He offered, moving to let me into the room and I shook my head in response, shifting so I held my bag in my hand. “I have to wake Alice and leave soon… I’m not sure if she wants to come with me but I don’t particularly want her to… she’s actually sleeping now… but I have a hunter friend in Canada that needs help with a few wendigoes…” I explained, my eyes drifting past Sam to land on Dean. I didn’t know what I would expect of him, especially after what he said and how he’d been acting for the past week, but it wasn’t a look of curiosity that turned into anger the moment I met his eyes. I rolled my eyes at him in response, though a small pit formed in the bottom of my stomach as I turned my gaze back to the younger Winchester. “I don’t want to wake her…. can you let her know I left?” I shifted my weight, something other than the look Dean gave me bugging me. I didn’t want Alice around if something bad happened to me. “Just thought I’d let you know that I was gunna be gone for a while and not dropping off the face of the Earth. Just let Alice know I’ll be home by the last Saturday of the month at the latest… that gives me three weeks to get rid of these things… We can all meet at Bobby’s.”

I didn’t give him a chance to reply before I turned and walked to my car. I heard the door close behind me and sighed heavily. Everything was changing and the energy around this place was so off and it wasn’t only because Dean was catching on to what I was and acting weird. I looked up as a dark cloud covered the sun and thunder sounded, cracking loud. I frowned again and tossed my bag in the back seat of Sirius, hitting a solid wall of flesh when I stepped back to close the door. I didn’t have time to react before a hand was over my mouth and forcing my head back, something sharp and cold sliding into the vein on my neck. I barely had time to catch a glimpse of a familiar face and black eyes before I felt rain hit my face and everything went dark.
