Midnight Showers

Akuma’s P.O.V

I slowly opened my eyes and slowly blinked, starting to panic for a moment before my vision cleared and I noticed that the only reason I couldn’t see was that it was dark. With a groan I slowly stretched out my limbs before rolling onto my side to look at the alarm clock on the bedside table. “Midnight? Great.” I muttered to myself, staying down for a moment longer before sitting up and rubbing my eyes and looking around at the empty room. Alice was curled up in the spot next to me and our bags were thrown onto the empty couch. I looked across the room at the other bed and rolled my eyes when I saw that it was empty and completely made as well. “They probably took off as soon as they could.” I muttered to myself, standing up with a stretch and walking to the fridge, sighing when I opened it and found it completely empty.

“What was that? I didn’t catch it.” Came a deep voice from behind me and I closed the fridge, turning to see Dean standing in the doorway in nothing but his boxers, his hair and chest still wet. I frowned a bit deeper and ran a hand through my hair, realizing that I hadn’t even realized that the shower was running.

“Oh nothing.” I said coolly, moving so I was leaning against the counter. “I was just wondering who showers at midnight.”

“Well you can add me to that list.” Dean said with a chuckle, using the towel in his hand to dry off his hair and chest before tossing it behind him and turning off the bathrooms light and walking over to me. “How are you feeling? You looked like hell earlier.” He said, brushing past me and turning on the overhead light of the motels oven.

“You sure know how to make a girl feel special,” I said sarcastically, lifting myself onto the counter and pushing my hair back and away from my face. It felt gross and greasy, just like my skin, and I was probably going to add myself to the list of people who took showers at midnight. “And I’m doing fine. Feeling a lot better… why are you still here? I thought you’d be gone as soon as possible.”

“Sam was exhausted and Alice was worried sick about you. She wasn’t in any state to protect you if something happened, and you were out cold.” Dean said, giving a small shrug and meeting my eyes easily, the light bringing out the brown and small flecks of gold within the hazel. “Besides, Bobby would kick my ass if he found out I left you two like that.”

“Well… thanks I guess.” I said, not bothering to ask why he was showering in this room or why Sam wasn’t in the room. Sam was probably in the room the other room, and Alice was probably in the bed next to me because she was worried, which was probably why the second bed was empty. I broke eye contact as my mind cleared a bit more. I still felt groggy and in desperate need of coffee. We were in the hotel room that Alice and I had shared before we went on the plane ride so I was hoping that the coffee I had found in the cupboard was still there. “I think I’m going to make some coffee. Want some?” I asked, twisting in my spot and pulling open the cupboard and smiling when I saw the coffee was still in the spot that I had left it in.

“Sure, who need sleep anyways?” Dean asked sarcastically as I slid off of the counter. I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him backwards so he was no longer in the way, letting my hand slide down his chest a bit before I turned and picked up a coffee filter, placing it in the machine before dumping in coffee grounds and filing it with water.
“Obviously not you if you shower at midnight. I’m going to have a shower while the coffee brews.” I said, giving him a smirk and letting my gaze travel down his body before I turned and walked to the bathroom.

Dean’s P.O.V.

I sighed as I watched Akuma walk away, my eyes dropping down to her hips and ass. Now that I was more relaxed and not in hunting mode anymore I could actually appreciate the form of her body. I watched her for a moment longer before I sighed and went to the sweatpants I had left on the couch. After taking a moment to stretch I slipped into the sweatpants, a smirk crossing my face as I headed back to the counter, opening the cupboard that held the cups and putting them on the top shelf at the very back. It was a simple prank but it might elicit a laugh. I was still mad about what happened on the plane but she had been out for almost two days so I wasn’t about to bring it up.

“Is the coffee done?” Akuma’s smooth voice filled the air, followed by the sound of an opening door. I closed the cupboard and turned to face her with an easy smile, shifting my weight when I saw that she was only wearing a pair of small shorts and a tight tank top. Her wet hair hung down to her hips, clinging to her figure in some places. She was an attractive woman and if we had met in a bar I could have guaranteed that this relationship would have ended in a one night stand, but that wasn’t the case and nothing like that would ever happen.

“Yeah it’s done.” I said, moving away from the pot and going to the fridge, reaching into it to grab the cream and smirking when I heard Akuma swear softly. “Problem?” I asked, straightening up and turning to face her again, my eyes widening a bit when I saw her on the counter, reaching into the cupboard and grabbing two cups. My eyes followed the lines of her body, stopping to appreciate her torso before continuing up to her face.

“Fixed it.” Akuma said, setting the cups on the counter before turning to me and grabbing the cream from my hands. “You should take a picture Winchester. It’ll last longer.” She said with a smirk, turning around again and taking her sweet time to mix sugar and cream into her cup before moving around me and lifting herself up onto the counter again as I mixed my coffee.
“I’m pretty sure that’s illegal.” I said, leaning against the counter and lifting the mug to my lips, looking up at her and offering a shrug as I took a small sip. We sat in silence for a while before she spoke up again, a look of what seemed like curiosity in her ice blue eyes.

“Whose girlfriend was that demon talking about? And… what happened?” She asked, tilting her head and meeting my eyes as she spoke. I dropped my gaze to my cup and was silent for a moment before I met her gaze again, shifting my grip on the cup.

“Sam’s ex… her name was Jess.” I said, shifting my gaze over her shoulder so I wasn’t meeting her eyes, deciding to fill in the blanks so she wouldn’t ask more questions. She seemed like the type that was curious about everything and anything. “I had picked Sam up or a quick hunt one weekend and when I dropped him off he ended up watching her die… she was killed by a demon we call yellow eyes.” I said, looking back at her once I finished talking and frowning at the look I saw on her face. Her entire posture had changed; she was relaxed and had a smirk on her face before. Now she sat tense, like she was ready to pounce on something, and her eyes had gone from bright and light to a darker shade of blue like a storm, which easily matched the expression on her face.

“Oh… that’s terrible. I’m sorry.” She said, taking in a deep breath, her body relaxing a bit as she did so.

“It’s not your fault, and it was a while ago.” I said with a shrug, taking another sip of my coffee, keeping eye contact with her as I did so. We settled back into silence again, this one a bit more awkward than the last, the only noises were our breathing and the quiet mutters from the clock radio next to the bed. After a few more minutes I had finished my cup and set it on the counter, finally working up the courage to ask what I wanted to.

“So… how did you and Alice meet?” I asked, tilting my head slightly at the look of shock on her face. I could tell it was the last question she had been expecting by the look in her eyes, but it had been bugging me and I wanted to know.

“Wh… what do you mean? We’re sisters.” She said, her face smoothing over after another second. I looked away with a sigh, cracking my knuckles before looking at her. I got that it was personal, but she had asked a personal question as well. If anything hers was more personal. It was about my brother rather than me.

“But you’re not related by blood.” I said, my voice sounding hard and a bit annoyed. I took a breath and poured more coffee into my mug, realizing that this was probably a touchy subject. She was more than likely adopted which could be very touchy. “.. Sorry if it’s too personal, I’m just curious.” I said after clearing my throat, my voice relatively softer this time.

“No it’s fine, I just wasn’t expecting it.” She said, taking a moment to finish her coffee before meeting my eyes again, her lip caught between her teeth and a thoughtful expression on her face. She sat like that for a few minutes and I was about to speak again when she interrupted me. “It was a while ago, about ten years now. I was pretty young and I was on a hunt by myself. I hunted alone all the time back then and I was pretty reckless about it so it’s probably how I got into so much trouble.” She said, looking away from me for a moment before glancing back with a soft smile. “I was hunting what I thought was just two rogue vampires, though I should have realized that they never travel together unless in a pack, but I guess they caught on pretty fast. They led me to a trap, grabbed me, and brought me back to their nest. Lucky for me there was two other hunters on the job and they found me the next day. By that time I had lost quite a bit of blood because of the several escape attempts I made… Not to mention the amount of times they fed on me.” She continued, rolling her eyes as she spoke. It was probably in response to the story she was telling. Trying to escape from a nest of vampires on your own was pretty stupid. “Anyways, they came in and saved my ass. They killed all of them except for the three that escaped. Alice and her father, our dad, took me in and patched me up. I tried to leave a few times but they always tracked me down and finally convinced me to stay.” She finished, a small, sad smile on her face now.

“… How long were you alone?” I asked gingerly, setting down my cup of coffee on the counter. I had forgotten about it while she spoke and it was already cold.

“I ran away from my dad when I was ten but I was alone a lot longer than that.” She said, dropping her gaze again, taking her time to take a slow and deep breath. “He isn’t the nicest man on the planet.”

I nodded at her words and stopped myself before I spoke. I was going to say I knew how she felt but I’ve always had Sammy; even when dad would beat me down in every way possible, I had Sammy. The look on her face told me she’d felt a different kind of loneliness before she met Alice. I was about to say something else when my phone went off. I walked to the table where I left it and picked it up, my eyebrows shooting up when I saw the number on the screen. “I have to go.” I said, glancing back at her before stepping out of the room and closing the door behind me.

There's going to be a bit of a time skip or the next chapter. Dean and Sam had to take off and ALice and Akuma did their own thing for a while. I'll bring it up in the next chapter, but they haven't seen eachither in about a month and a half
