It's Time to Rock the Dragon

Chapter thirteen

Gohan arrived at my house very early the next morning, around 9.30AM. I was still sleeping, so he came face to face with my father at the door.

So I awoke to my father knocking on my door, looking amused with a fearful looking Gohan behind him. I introduced Gohan to dad as my boyfriend, and my dad smiled and congratulated us, leaving Gohan looking confused as he walked in.

My parents were pretty relaxed when it came to whom I was dating. Gohan looks like a respectable young man, and my dad has a pretty good judgement of character. If someone introverted like me can see Gohan’s radiating innocence upon first introductions, I’m sure my dad would have seen just how pure Gohan was.

That, and my parents had seen what I went through with Seto. It took me ages just to stop moping, so to see me finally moving on with someone else would make them both happy. Gohan had nothing to worry about.

So Gohan and I just hung around until 11.30AM when Jess was meant to arrive. I threw on just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and we all jumped into my car – Gohan in the front and Jess in the back and headed off to our destination.

We then walked towards the city centre of Satan City and got there around 11.55AM.

“So, what do these friends of yours look like? How do we look for them?” Jess asked.

“Oh, you’ll know who they are once you see them. Trust me.” I winked at Jess.

I kept a chuckle hidden. Jess and Gohan really didn’t know what to expect when it came to Marik and Ishizu and I was curious as to how they’d react when they saw two people dressed like Egyptians in the busy city centre of Satan City. That, and Marik and Ishizu weren’t the most well-adjusted and civilised people out there.

Gohan and Jess were looking around cluelessly for any ‘unusual’ people who might be Marik and Ishizu. Whilst I wasn’t frantically searching around I kept my eyes open for them. They weren’t around as of yet.

I saw Jess approach a woman who had quite an unusual sense of fashion. She had on orange flip-flops, with bright green jeans. Her top was purple, and she had a band of flowers around her hair, which was also purple. I had no idea who this woman was, maybe one of her friends?
“Ishizu! It’s nice to meet you. Charlotte is one of my best friends.” Jess beamed, shaking this unknown female’s hands vigorously.

Before the woman could reply, I dragged Jess off. The woman then gave us a weird look and ran away quickly.

“That isn’t Ishizu.” I informed her.

She looked at me horror stricken, and Gohan let out a friendly giggle.

“I’m Ishizu.” We heard a kind voice say.

All three of us looked around, and we saw Ishizu in the flesh. She was nearly exactly the same as I remembered. Big beautiful blue eyes, long black hair with two locks wrapped up in gold coils. She had on her normal beige long Egyptian style dress, however she had long lost her millennium necklace, and had no use for her headgear anymore.

“And I’m Marik.” We heard Marik approach.

Marik looked a little more civil than Ishizu. Whilst he still had his earrings, neckwear, armbands and bracelets, his outfit was western. He was wearing a sleeveless purple shirt, black pants and black shoes.

“Wow. It’s been a while. Hey guys.” I awkwardly greeted them, not really knowing what to do or say.

Whilst Ishizu gave me a modest bow, Marik caught me off guard by giving me a bone-crushing hug.

“Can’t…breathe.” I choked out, and he let me go.

I looked over where Jess and Gohan were standing awkwardly, not knowing how to really act. I could tell they were waiting to be introduced, and now was the perfect time.

“Oh um. Marik, Ishizu this is my best friend Jess and my boyfriend Gohan.” I introduced.

“Nice to meet you.” Marik said, addressing Gohan and Jess.

Ishizu’s reaction was a little…different though.

“Gohan Son, it’s a pleasure to meet you. The world owes you so much.” Ishizu said, appearing in front of Gohan and giving a very long bow.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Gohan nervously chuckled, scratching the back of his neck.

“Why, you saved this planet of course. You defeated Cell.” Ishizu stated.

“He…WHAT?!” Jess and I shouted in unison, completely confused.

“What makes you think that?” Gohan nervously chuckled, still scratching his neck awkwardly.

“Wait, TELL ME MORE!” Jess shouted, landing in front of Ishizu.

“Yes. Gohan Son was the real person to defeat Cell. Mr. Satan cowered behind rocks the whole time, and contributed nothing else to the fight once he was knocked out of the ring. Gohan defeated Cell using the signature move from the Turtle school – the kamehameha wave. Because the cameras had been knocked out, Satan took Gohan’s credit and without any evidence, the world believed him.” Ishizu explained.

“You have the wrong guy, because if even if that’s true, that wasn’t me.” Gohan nervously stammered out.

“Yeah! That kid was way too cute to be Gohan! Besides, he had blonde hair and blue eyes. Gohan has black hair and brown eyes, it’s impossible.” Jess protested.

“I believe her.” I stated.

“You do?” Jess and Gohan asked at the same time.

“Yes, I do. Look guys, you’re not going to believe this. I didn’t believe it to begin with either. But to cut a long story short, Ishizu used to possess the ability to see the future. She would have foreseen the events of Cell before it even happened.” I explained to Jess and Gohan.

“Yes, which is why my family didn’t intervene. We wouldn’t have had any power over Cell to begin with, but we knew Cell would eventually be defeated, and the lives lost would be wished back, so we knew it was safer to remain in our underground home until the Pharaoh returned.” Ishizu explained.

Gohan and Jess looked at each other and shrugged, not understanding what Ishizu was saying.

I turned to Gohan.

“I think we should talk about this later, but I’m not mad. I can understand you wanting to keep this a secret, and the implications that may occur as a result should you try and come clean. I just think we should hear what Marik and Ishizu have to say, besides they called this meeting.” I said to Gohan.

“Okay. Thanks for being so understanding, there’s a lot about me you don’t know, and it means a lot to me that I can trust you.” Gohan said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and kissing my temple.

“There’s a lot about her, and her adventures you probably have yet to find out about too, judging from your surprise of the mention of a millennium item.” Marik sniggered.

“Yes, we probably should go somewhere more private to discuss these matters. I’m glad Gohan Son is here though; these matters involve his family and the dragon balls, as well as the millennium items. Perhaps it is fate that has bought you two together?” Ishizu asked.

Dragon balls? Gohan’s family? I’d need to hear more about this before deciding if it was ‘fate’ that bought Gohan and I together? But already by the sounds of it, Gohan’s direct involvement in the Ishtar’s matters right now was a weird coincidence.
