Chapter seventeen
“CHARLOTTE! Come here and give your old pal a bear hug!” Joey said, dropping his bags and approaching me, breaking out into a grin.
I grinned back, sighing a breath of relief as I opened my arms up for Joey.
Tea then bounded onto me, hugging me in a group like fashion. Tristan copied her actions, joining the group hug but tried to cop a feel of both Tea and I.
Tea and I in unison whacked him hard and he fell to the floor crying.
When Tea and Joey stepped away, I hugged a now shy Yugi, and then stepped back to face my four best friends.
“So how’s life? Oh my god we have SO much to catch up on!” Tea exclaimed, linking arms with me, as we walked off.
“Wait everybody, you must not walk off. You do not know where we are going next.” Ishizu stated.
Tea and I stopped in our tracks. Ishizu was right, where are we going? I know we’re meant to be going to ‘Kami’s Lookout’ but I had no idea where that was or how to get there?
“Well we can all catch up whilst we wait, right guys?” Tea asked, grinning.
“No! You can’t! There’s no time to catch up. Your forces are needed right now.” I heard a voice boom.
I looked around, but could not find the owner of this voice. The train station was now deserted, as we were outside the station and the next train wasn’t due for an hour.
I definitely could not be hearing things, as everyone else looked around for the voice too.
“Who is speaking?” Marik snarled, and it became apparent that the Ishtar’s also had no idea who the speaker was. Ishizu didn’t seem worried though, she just had her eyes closed.
“My dear boy, how else did you expect to get to Kami’s Lookout? There’s no phone you can just pick up, you know. I must tell Goku now that you are all ready to go. Get ready to be transported to Kami’s Lookout.” The voice boomed.
“Who’s Goku?” Joey asked, scratching his head.
“I’m Goku! Hi!” Goku grinned, appearing behind Joey.
“Ahh! What the! How did you sneak up on me? Man that was quick!” Joey exclaimed, coming back from his fall.
Goku just kept his sheepish grin, but scratched the back of his neck in a laughing manner. I felt I had to laugh along. I’m not sure what magic trick Goku used, but I knew he had the ability to appear anywhere he wanted, as he did at the café. I didn’t know the limitations, but that in itself is pretty cool.
“Are you all ready to go to Kami’s Lookout?” Goku asked the group.
“Am I welcome to come?” Jess piped up, looking around and realising she was technically the odd one out.
“Well of course you’re welcome! You’re part of the group, aren’t you?” Goku asked, receiving a nod from Jess “Then you’re to come with us!”
Everybody then began to look around them, waiting for the ride. I looked at Ishizu, Marik and Jess and we all smirked at each other. It was pretty obvious Kami’s Lookout wasn’t going to be accessible by car, or even if it was it would take too long to get to. No, Goku was definitely going to use his magic trick.
“So how are we commuting to our next location then?” Yugi asked Goku.
“We will be using Instant Transmission. Come on everyone, we need to make a link. Everybody grab onto everybody.” Goku said.
Immediately Ishizu walked over to Goku and grabbed his hand, indicating for everyone to start a human chain. Marik grabbed his sister’s hand, and Jess grabbed Marik’s. It went Goku, Ishizu, Marik, Jess, Joey, Tristan, Tea and Yugi.
“This will only take a second.” Goku said proudly, then he put his free fingers onto his forehead and concentrated for a second.
In less than a millisecond, the scenery around changed. I didn’t even FEEL myself move, it’s as if I’ve been standing here the whole time. However I could feel the difference under my feet, instead of being on pavement I was on smooth tiles. The temperature around was warmer too, which didn’t make sense because it seemed we were at a very high altitude.
“I’m not even going to question what happened…” Tea trailed off.
I saw Joey and Tristan look at each other. I was expecting them to question Goku, complain loudly or do another meat headed action. Instead, they were flabbergasted and only exclaimed ‘COOL!’
I looked around. There were clouds, and tiles. And plants on either side, lots of plants. In front of me there were a few small stairs leading up to a building, obviously a living area.
The trail my eyes were taking led to a group of people assembled outside this building. The “Z Warriors” as Gohan had dubbed them. Everyone from the Capsule Corp get together was here today, including a few more.
Gohan scanned the faces of the new comers, and I saw he had landed on me. His eyes lit up, and he ran towards us. Joey and Tristan jumped out of the way, as Gohan picked up me and span me around, before setting me on the ground and giving me a quick peck.
“You guys make me sick.” Jess weakly smiled.
I only sent a weak smile back, I felt a little sorry for her, as her and her boyfriend broke up only yesterday. She seemed to be a lot better today, and was having no difficulties in making new friends. I’m sure she’ll be alright.
“Is this your new boyfriend?” Tea asked me, and all I did was send back an embarrassed nod.
Joey then pushed in front of me, appearing straight in Gohan’s face.
“Look here mister, if ya ever hurt my Charlotte like rich boy did, you’ll have ME ta deal with! Got it?” Joey asked, threatening Gohan.
“I have no intentions of ever hurting Charlotte or doing what Kaiba did to her.” Gohan honestly replied, as my face flushed red from embarrassment.
“Shut up Joey! Gohan could SO take you.” I smirked.
“Yeah right! I was the toughest kid in middle school. I could beat up gangs single handled. Wanna go me?” Joey joked, putting his fists in the air and jumping back and fourth.
“I really don’t want to fight. We have more important issues to deal with…” Gohan trailed off.
“Scared?” Joey smirked.
“Joey! Shut up! Why would you want to fight him? He’s Charlotte’s boyfriend, he’s proven his worth and you both see eye to eye. Stop being such a tough guy and focus on why we’re here!” Tea complained loudly, rolling her eyes.
I exchanged looks with Goku and Gohan and we all chuckled. I wasn’t sure of Gohan’s true strength, but I knew he was definitely stronger than Joey, even if Joey was fairly tough.
I heard an awkward sounding cough, and I looked to where it came from. In front of us now were the oddest-looking people I had ever seen. One looked like Piccolo, however his features were far less defined making him appear younger. The second one was a chubby man. He was wearing a turbo, and had the darkest black skin to be had. He had beady eyes and bright red lips, with only one tooth visible.
“If you are now acquainted with each other and your surroundings, it is now time to come together to discuss our current threat.” The latter man said, not smiling nor frowning.
I looked around at everybody, and we nodded as we made our way towards the larger group. Everybody was now assembled and it was now time to discuss what everybody’s mission was.
