It's Time to Rock the Dragon

Chapter twenty

However, before Popo could even open his mouth, the weather changed drastically. I couldn’t understand what was happening, wasn’t this above the sky and the clouds so the weather didn’t affect this lookout?

The clouds around us turned a dark grey, a grey I had never seen clouds appear before. Violent lightning was seen, with violent thunder following soon after.

I was always one of the bravest people in thunderstorms, but such a violent storm, and being exposed in the middle of a very high altitude made me nervous.

“Oh NO!” Goku screamed, not even looking back at anyone as he took off into the air.

I tried to look at Gohan for an explanation, but he was too busy snarling, looking over at the Z Warriors for their plan of action against whatever Goku was worried about.

“We can’t just stand here, we have to act, NOW.” Krillin stated.

“Right. Let’s go everybody, time is crucial and we can’t let them have their wish.” Piccolo agreed, taking off behind Goku.

“Sorry babe, but I’ll explain later. This can’t wait.” Gohan addressed to me, before kicking off and following the other two.

Krillin and 18 gave Marron to Bulma, before flying off together. Vegeta flew off, leaving Bulma screaming after him, whilst Yamcha and Tien flew off last.

“What…just happened?” Joey asked, the only one capable of speaking off, as we were dumbfounded.

“This is horrible! We were too late.” Dende sighed, falling to his knees.

“What do you mean this is horrible? Are you saying my baby is in trouble?” Chi Chi shrieked, running up to Dende and grabbing his shoulders as he shook him violently.

Bulma put Marron onto the ground near the older Trunks and Goten, before jogging over where Chi Chi was, and grabbed her to calm her down.

“Chi Chi, it’ll be okay. You know your two boys are strong. Goku destroyed that entire army single handled when he was just a kid. He’s quite literally a hundred times stronger than he was back then; Gohan is stronger than Goku was at the time too. We have nothing to worry about.” Bulma said to Chi Chi, but then by the end of her speech she was addressing everyone.

“Bulma is right. I believe in Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and the others.” Videl spoke up, smiling slightly.

“As do I. Believing in them may not help them, but it can help us. There’s no point moping about this, but we have to stay positive.” I stated.

Videl looked at me, and gave me a tough nod but then a weak smile. It was probably the only time she had been friendly to me, but it was appreciated as well as needed in a time like this.

“Well if Charlotte can trust those guys, I can.” Yugi agreed, with Tea, Tristan and Joey.

“Sis, aren’t they all right? I mean, they’re certainly strong enough to take on the Red Ribbon army before they even begin their search for the millennium items. Who knows, they might even be able to stop them from this wish, or it might not even be the Red Ribbon Army who called upon the dragon.” Marik said to Ishizu.

“Wait, what?” I asked Marik, unsure of what he was saying.

“He’s right, someone has called on the dragon, which is why all the fighters flew off. The sky goes dark, and a dark storm begins. Usually you can see the dragon itself, but because we’re so high up and the clouds are thick around us, you can’t see it.” Bulma explained.

I just nodded, finally understanding what that meant and why the fighters all flew off so quickly. We couldn’t be sure what the Red Ribbon Army were wishing for, and now they had called upon the dragon, apparently that was the way to make a wish from the dragon balls.

“All we can do now is wait.” Mr. Popo stated.

In order to make myself ease up while we chillingly waited for time to pass, I made my way over to Tea, Tristan and Joey, and we caught up as well as we could under the circumstances. I also got to introduce them to Jess properly, and Marik and Ishizu joined us to discuss.

I broke away from the group to make my way over to the kids. Most of the other adults seemed okay, Chi Chi was crying on Bulma’s shoulder that she was afraid of losing Gohan mostly, but was also a tiny bit scared of losing Goku again (Again?! Whattt?) Whilst Kaiba had broken apart from everyone and was leaning against the wall, closing his eyes and ignoring the fact that Launch was standing guard over him, her gun pointed at him.

Videl however, was calming down Marron, who had both of her parents gone, and the two older boys were sparring amongst themselves.

“I can see why you did so well in that baby project. You’re great with kids.” I said honestly to Videl, taking a seat next to her once Marron was preoccupied with a toy that Videl took off her keys.

“You’re the one that got top of the grade.” Videl replied, not pleasantly but not entirely bitter either.

“I don’t count. As you said, Gohan is a nerd.” I smirked, and I earned a giggle from Videl.

“I really do feel bad for interrupting your date with Kaiba. We didn’t even know you were there; we only went because Goku picked up Kaiba’s power level or something. If we knew we may not have even come to collect Kaiba.” I said to Videl.

“It’s okay. I’m only dating Kaiba for show. Apparently it serves as a good transaction for both my dad and Kaiba, so I told dad I’d go on a few dates with Kaiba in order to make dad look good. Personally I can’t stand the guy, he’s so boring.” Videl giggled.

“That’s what he said to me, pretty much after he dumped me.” I weakly smiled.

“Oh, I’m sorry Charlotte. I didn’t mean to offend you.” Videl said, and I snapped my head to look at her properly.

She was sincere; her facial expressions were all apologetic.

“Nah, it’s all good. I’m kind of glad he’s getting a taste of his own medicine. I’m also glad you don’t sincerely like him, because you’re too good for him, and he seemed to have been mistreating you.” I replied.

“Wow, those are some words I never thought I’d be hearing from you.” Videl joked.

“This is a conversation I never thought I’d be having either too.” I smiled, but before I could start some idle chitchat to possibly break through to Videl and even possibly become friends, the dark clouds disappeared instantly, and the sky was bright again.

We all stood up immediately, awaiting for someone to return and tell us exactly what happened.
