It's Time to Rock the Dragon

Chapter twenty nine

“Charlotte…you’re okay?” Gohan asked, sounding surprised.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I got kidnapped, but it turns out it wasn’t a big deal after all. But I do need to talk to you…” I trailed off.

“So you’re sure you’re okay?” Gohan asked, not sounding entirely sure of what I was saying.

“Yeah, just a big misunderstanding. But I need to talk you, in person. We have things to talk about, and I also miss you, heaps. It’s only been a day but it feels like longer, I really like y-“ I started, but was cut off by Gohan.

“I’m glad you’re okay. But we’re on our way to find Commander Red and shut down the Red Ribbon Army once and for all. I don’t have time to get anyone to pick you up, so after we’re done I’ll organise someone to swing your way, okay?” Gohan bargained.

“But…I…okay.” I sighed, realising arguing was pointless.

It would be selfish of me to argue. Gohan and his friends were about to take on Commander Red and take this organisation down once and for all. Even though all he had to go was organise a ride whilst waiting to arrive at the destination, I bet he was nervous beyond belief and was best suited to preparing for the battle than dealing with something so trivial.

That, and it was obvious he had made up his mind. It would just lead to a fight, and I didn’t want to fight with Gohan right now.

“Alright, I’ll see you soon hopefully…” Gohan mumbled, hanging up before I could even say bye properly.

I just slumped back in the chair I was sitting on. This was ridiculous, nothing bad happened. I shouldn’t be feeling this way. But I was feeling upset and empty.

A few minutes passed by and Silver had yet to return. I realised he probably was waiting for me to exit, and I left the room.

I was correct. He was leaning on the wall opposite the room we were just in, deep in thought. He didn’t even notice me leave the room.

“Hey, thanks for letting me use your phone.” I stated to him, handing him the cell phone.

It wasn’t a complete lie…he did let me use it, I just chose not to.

“Oh, that’s okay. What’s the plan now?” Silver asked me.

“Apparently they’re going after Commander Red now. Gohan said once that’s finished with he’ll come back for me. So um, yeah. No idea.” I smiled weakly, trying to hide the fact that I was upset.

“Aw honey I’m sorry to hear. But look on the bright side; Commander Red will be gone for good this time. Would you like me to call the other stations and see if they still exist?” Silver offered.

“Um…I guess so. Which other stations are there anyway?” I asked curiously.

“Well there’s here, then there’s Muscle Tower which is White’s camp, and there’s Blue and Yellow’s camp, as well as the headquarters. If I were to call all of these camps and see if they answer, we can see how close you are to being rescued.” Silver stated.

“True…thanks, I guess.” I weakly smiled.

“No worries, don’t forget, I’m getting something out of it too.” Silver smirked.

‘I’m getting something out of it too’ if I were smarter I would have thought something of this statement, after all, he’s meant to be helping us by giving us the scales. But instead, I smiled and went back into his office with him.

I woke up the next morning with a blue trench coat over me. I realised I had fallen asleep in Silver’s chair and he had put his trench coat over me in my sleep. That was nice of him.

The last thing I remembered was Silver calling all the camps. There was no answer at Yellow’s Camp, at White’s Camp someone came on the radio to say that White was defeated, the people had taken over Muscle Tower to use for their own good will and that Silver would pay. At Blue’s camp all we heard was ‘help…me…’ before the line went dead. We didn’t bother with the headquarters knowing the main fight was still being fought.

Silver had said he was sending his men out in jets to investigate everything, and would get them to radio back to this camp as soon as they found anything. I must have fallen asleep waiting for such calls.

Silver and I began to talk a lot last night though. At first I was stand offish, not trusting him. But then we started talking about our family and career goals. Turns out Silver was an orphan, who spent his entire childhood training martial arts, hence why he has the body he had. He always wanted to be in the army, which is why he enlisted for the Red Ribbon Army. He only wanted to advance in the army, and not hurt people or does the army’s wicked deeds. It was all about the career, rather than the motive.

He didn’t talk much about his life after the army collapsed when Goku defeated it as a child, saying that he was now young again and his ‘old self’ now ceased to exist. He said the advanced years he had were automatically wiped away. He did mention that he had an older sister, who he hasn’t been in contact with since before the Red Ribbon Army. I suggested he track her down to which he replied she would have now died of old age. Yikes! It made me realise how old Silver really was, even though he had the appearance of someone who was twenty-five.

Minutes after I woke up, Silver entered the room.

“Ah, you’re up! I prepared breakfast in the small kitchen area. Please come in, and I’ll discuss with you the latest developments.” Silver smiled at me.

I said nothing but got up from the seat, wrapping the trench coat around me. It wasn’t cold or anything in the desert, but I didn’t know what else to do with it.

Silver lead me into a small kitchenette area, with a bench in the middle. He had two plates set up, with two chairs next to them.

On the plates were scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans and tomato. It was a full English fry up, and was quite sweet of him to make.

I sat down where he told me to, and waited until he was seated and would tell me the current situation before I would begin eating.
