The Letters

Hi Gus,

You don’t sound funny! Sometime I get scared by noise because I don’t know where it’s coming from. There’s a lot of sounds. Daddy said that Philadelphia is a very loud city with all the cars and people in it. But you sound really nice.

Today at school, people made fun of my hearing aids. It made me sad. This one girl said that I shouldn’t have gotten pink ear molds because it makes me different from everyone else. She said that I was already weird using my hands to talk but I’m a lot more weird now that I have pink ears. So now they won’t walk with me home. I have to walk with my sister and her friends now.

But my sister and her friends talk too fast for me to understand them. I asked my sister to interpret and sign but she keeps forgetting to. I’m really sad. I wish that I had a friend that understand me.
