Unexpected Love

Natasha meets the Roman

The ground pounded beneath my feet as they made contact with the still damp grass. The sun was just beginning to peak over the tallest mountain in the land and the grass was still heavy with dew. I smiled down at the ground as I made it to the clearing just in time to see the ruby, red, sun rise into the sky turning everything it touched into a shimmering splendor. This was my favorite part of the day; it was the only time when I could be alone with my thoughts. The rest of my life was all planned for minute by minute. My name is Natasha and you see I was to be the future queen and was to be wed by the fall of the third moon and my parents had already picked out a suitor. He was fine and very nice, but love just wasn’t something to be forced upon someone.

I didn’t want this, why couldn’t my parents understand that. I sighed as I ran a hand through my messy, windblown hair and sat down in the clearing just staring out over the ocean. I brushed the small tears from my eyes that had been forming due to the stress and anger. All I wanted was to find love in my own time and by my own means.

-----Inside the Tardis-----

~Rory’s POV~

The blue police box groaned as the tall man in the suspenders danced around the console flipping switches and pressing buttons. I just sat there and watched as he got tossed to the ground, I swear sometimes I truly think that he has no clue what he is doing. The Doctor groaned in frustration, but kept his cool as he jumped back up to check where the Tardis had spit them out this time. His eyes sparkled with wonderment and just a hint of child like delight. I cleared my throat to make my presence known…or at least to remind him that I was still there, “so uh, Doctor where exactly are we?”

The Doctor spun around clasping his hands together, “we Rory have landed on the planet called Kaininia. It’s a rather lovely little planet. I spent a few summers there when I was just a mere boy. Although, I did almost get eaten…twice, but never mind that lets go meet some of the locals shall we.” He grinned wide as he snapped his fingers opening the Tardis door, “Geronimo!”

~Back to Natasha’s POV~

A gentle wind arose out of nowhere causing me to stir from my gentle meditation. I stood from my spot on the ground and listened intently. A strange vworping sound could be heard in the distance. I made my way through the jungle until I stumbled upon the site of the noise. Excitement and adrenaline coursed through my veins with every step I took closer to the strange looking box. My hand trembled as I reached forward to touch the doors and just like that the doors flew open. I stumbled back and rolled behind the nearest tree. My breaths were now heavy as I tried to calm my nerves. I peaked back around and watched as these strange new creatures stepped out.

~Rory’s POV~

The light filled my eyes as we stepped out into the new territory. I blinked a few times and as my eyes adjusted to the new source of light I took in my surroundings while The Doctor scanned a few things here and there with his sonic screwdriver. The planet was filled with thick, vibrant vegetation. The blues, reds, and oranges swirled together to create all new colors. “Wow…” was all I could say at the moment. This planet was so beautiful, and thanks to The Doctor not being able to fly his Tardis correctly, I got to see it. A smile crossed my lips and I made my way towards The Doctor.

~Natasha’s POV~

I picked myself up off the ground and decided to follow the strangers, after all for all I know they could be here for war. My pace quickened as they rounded the next corner, but as I made my way around it they were nowhere to be seen. I pulled my small golden dagger from its hiding spot on my left thigh. “Impossible” I breathed out as stood scratching my head. They just vanished. “Hello, I’m The Doctor…and you must be one of the locals I presume.”

I spun on my heels to come face to face with the two men who had vacated the blue box not moments before. My dagger was still grasped firmly in my hand as I stared the two strangers down, “yes I am, but who are you” I asked, malice dripping from every syllable. The strange man in the bow tie spoke again, “I’m The Doctor, and this” he motioned to the skinny brunette standing beside him, “is Rory Williams.” They both smiled at me, but I couldn’t help but ask, “Doctor? Doctor Who?” all he said is response was “just The Doctor.”

Deciding they were of no threat I slowly re-sheathed my dagger. I stood tall as I introduced myself, “I am Princess Natasha of the Roxonian tribe.”

~Rory's POV~

I couldn't help but stare at her. Her skin was flawless, and her soft carmel, brown hair fell gently around her shoulders. Her armor hugged her every curve in just the right place and her smile was even brighter than the sun that shown down on us. Her eyes connected with mine, and she must have realized that I was staring because she blushed a soft crimson.

~Natasha's POV~

As I led them back to the palace I couldn't help but notice the one they call Rory kept looking at me with a look I had come to realize was lust. Heat rose to my face as our eyes connected, even if it was only for a split second. My heart pounded in my chest and it was like the time I had my first kiss. It was new and exciting, and all I knew was that I liked it.

We finally reached the palace and the guards opened the gates for us. The room smelled of bacon, sausage, and other different meats. Along with the sweet smell of apples, watermelon, and strawberries. The dinning hall was full of laughter and music, but all of that stopped. Once we stepped foot inside, all eyes were on me. My body went into auto pilot as I did my curtsy and walked our new guests to the front where mother and father sat, hands intertwined together. Everyone went back to what they were doing previously before we had entered, but some of them watched on with eager eyes to learn more of our new guests.

I bowed before the both of them as I introduced them, “Mother, Father this is The Doctor and Rory...” there it was again. I felt the heat spread further this time and my heart continued to flutter. The Doctor did a small bow “Hello, its a pleasure to be here once again on your lovely planet” my father smiled as he stood from his throne. He gently tapped the side of his chalice with his knife, silencing the room in mere seconds, “everyone, I would like you all to welcome our new guests” the room then burst out into cheerful welcomings. Once it quieted down a bit he continued “in honor of our new guests and our daughters soon to be marriage we will be hosting a ball tonight” more cheers erupted and once again the room was filled with laughter and music.

My heart sunk at the mere mention of my engagement to Prince Coronos. Tears threatened to breach my eyes, but I forced them to stop. Rory must have noticed this because he moved closer to me, placing his hand on the small of my back. His hand felt so warm on my exposed flesh. He leaned in close and whispered in my ear, “are you alright princess, do you need to talk?” this sent a shiver down the length of my spine. All I could do in response was nod my head.

We made our way to the garden where all the flowers were beginning to blossom. I sat down on one of the concrete benches across from where Rory sat down. We sat in silence for quite a while before I spoke, “so...everyone has heard the joyous news” I laughed at my own sarcasm. “I am to be wed and there is nothing I can do about it, I felt a hand on my chin pulling my head up to look into the prettiest pair of blue eyes. He smiled warmly at me, “I’m sure everything will be alright.” After he said this his lips pressed a gentle kiss upon my forehead, leaving a small tingle behind, and I wanted to ask how, when my life was coming to an end. My freedom was going to be taken away and replaced by the responsibilities of being a wife, mother, and running a kingdom but something in the way he said it gave me hope.

~Ball Time~

I stood looking at myself in the full length mirror. The silky red material of my dress clinging to my body, and the crown sat perfectly atop my head. I certainly looked the part, but inside I was still wanting to run. The music started up downstairs which meant that the guests had started to arrive. I let out a shaky sigh as I took one last look in the mirror before ascending the stairs. All eyes turned to me as I slowly walked down the staircase as they announced my name. My soon to be husband stood at the bottom with an award wining smile plastered to his face as he took my hand in his and led me to the dance floor.

We twirled around in one circle after the other, but all I could do was search the crowd of faces until they landed on Rory. He stood by the punch bowl, making idle conversation to one of the other girls. Anger, and jealousy flared up within me at the thought of another girl touching him. I was soon brought out of my haze when the music stopped, causing us to stop along with it. The room became quiet as Coronos got down on to one knee and pulled out a black velvet box. He began speaking, all along the urge to run was becoming stronger with every word. When he finished everybody was waiting for my answer. I knew it had to be yes, what other choice did I have. I opened my mouth to seal my fate “my answer is...no” the room was filled with gasps and all I could do is smile inwardly to myself.

Coronos stood back up, his eyes looked glazed over with what looked to be tears ready to spill over at any moment. He turned his back to me and made his way out of the room and just like that he was gone, along with everyone else in the room, including Rory. I turned towards my parents who stood with looks of shock, anger, and disappointment clearly evident on their features. Before they could speak I decided I had better explain, “Mother, Father...I don't want to be queen, I never have and I don't want to get married, unless its for real love. Like what you and father have”

The look on my mothers face softened but my fathers still seemed sorrowful. “please try to understand, I want my freedom, I want to travel the universe, I want to fall in love.” My mother stood up now, and made her way over to me. She placed a hand on my face, cupping my cheek in her hand “go my dear, make us proud and always remember that we love you no matter what you choose to do with your life.” This time tears of joy flooded my vision, I wrapped my mother in a tight hug “thank you.” I then turned to my father who still sat in his chair, I stood waiting for him to yell, to go on one of his usual speeches about how this was for the good of the kingdom, and how could I be so selfish, but instead he only stood and wrapped his arms around me “be safe” I smiled up at him as he released me from the hug, “I will father.”

I ran out of the door and directly around a corner where I smacked into Rory. He stammered as he helped me up, “I- I am so so so sorry” but all I could do was smile. He continued to apologize. The only way I knew how to silence him, I put both of my hands on his face and pulled his lips down to meet my own. This was a completely new experience compared to my first kiss. This was explosive, and passionate, and I loved every second of it. We pulled apart mostly just so we could breath and that was when I decided to tell him the good news

“Rory, my parents have called of the wedding, I’m free” I smiled at those words 'free'. We finally made our way to the Tardis where The Doctor was waiting outside. The Doctor smiled warmly at the sight of our hands intertwined, giving a slight nod and his approval as he made his way into the Tardis. “So you wanna come with us?” Rory said with a childish grin, stretching out his hand for her to take it. She smiled brightly at him and clasped her hand with his as he pulled her into his body, bringing her in for a kiss and the ride of a life time.
