Nightmares
It had been a month since John Hayes stuck a knife into me, since I saw his face plastered all over the TV, with news about his escape. It filled me with terror, considering I knew whatever he had planned wasn't finished yet.
When darkness fell, he crept into my nightmares. Each time he stabbed me in a different area, a more fatal one than between my collarbone and shoulder. One time it was in my side, the next was my jugular, then my back, and finally, my heart.
And all the time he laughed, his face twisted and sprayed with my blood. As I lay dying at his feet reaching for him, pleading with my eyes, John looked down at me, a smile spreading wider. He gripped my chin, slick with red, and spoke.
"You're going to love the final act, darling."
