"Are you making any headway with the case?"
I looked up. Charlotte was staring at me. She looked like she'd been waiting for me to answer for a while, but I was too lost in the gruesome photos in front of me to notice.
"No," I said. "Do you have anything interesting?"
"Actually, I do." She pulled a manilla envelope from behind her back and handed it to me.
I opened it and read the form. "This is about John Hayes."
Charlotte nodded. "He's in Denver, and from the looks of it, so is Eden Harper."
I sighed. "I remember the news on that. He let her go, didn't he? I wonder why. Has she been seen with him again? Has he tried to take her?"
Charlotte shook her head. "Not again. But I think they need help. No one's been looking for this guy, and if they have, they're doing a shit job."
Smiling, I leaned back. "Are we going to Denver?"
"We're going to Denver," she replied.

"We're going to Denver," she replied.
