(Zacky's POV)
It had been exactly 2 weeks since any of us had last spoken to Marigold and I felt the worst about it.I couldn't believe that I hurt my best friend like that.I truly would do anything to make it up to her if I could."Zacky, what's wrong? You've been acting weird all week since you last saw the guys.Why?" Gena asked concerned as we shopped around the mall for baby clothes.I shook my head and shrugged.I didn't want to talk to about it anymore.
"We're all just taking a break from each other right now." I mummbled while looking around, noticing that we had walked into a record store were saw a kid wearing one of our shirts we made."Nice shirt dude." I grinned.He looked at me with wide eyes before smiling."Anything to represent a hometown band, Zacky V." We high-fived and went on our seperate ways.I noticed Gena roll her eyes and sigh clearly annoyed.
She was never one to accept the fact that I was becoming popular as the band progressed, which ultimately really sucked because I would love for her to step into the spotlight with me."Alex! What are you doing here?" I suddenly overhead Gena say, walking up towards a tall, blonde guy who seemed more than out of place in a store like this.
He hugged onto her tight as she beamed up at him, almost like as if they were dating instead of me and her.I folded my arms over my chest and cleared my throat, finally catching both their attentions."Oh! Uh Zack this is Alex my friend from college." She said with a clear hint of uneasiness.I laughed slightly, shaking my head at the two.
"Right.Gena I have to go meet up with Brian, are you ready to go?" I asked, raising a brow.She looked fom me then back at Alex."Oh um I can get a ride baby don't worry.See you later." Gena smiled before giving me a swift kiss on the cheek."See you." I said then quickly headed out of the mall and to anywhere but here.
I had to make things right again, even if it killed me.
(Marigold's POV)
"You know you really should talk to your friends.Even though what Zacky did wasn't right, you're both lost.You need each other, Mari." My mother said as we sat at the table eating breakfast that my dad had insisted on making to make me feel better.
"I know mom, I will." I sighed drastically, getting up and putting my dishes away in the sink."Thanks daddy, I'm gonna go talk with the guys." I said before grabbing my bag and heading out the front door.I walked casually down the block, waving to the neighbors as I passed by.I grabbed my phone and dialed Val's number."Hey sweet pea! How's it going!" She exclaimed cheerfully, obviously happy to hear my voice again after for so long.
"I'm good hun.Are you busy? I wanna see you guys." I smiled as I kept on walking towards the bus stop to get on my way to the beach."Of course not! I'll meet you at Johnny's Bar with Matt." She screeched before hanging up quickly.I couldn't help but chuckle as I got on the bus and went on my way.
"Marigold!" I suddenly heard Matt yell, waving me over to where he and Val were waiting in front of the bar.I eagerly ran up and hugged them both, happy to see them again."I missed you guys!" I said as we walked inside and sat at our usual booth in the back with beers in hand.We sat around and chatted for what felt like hours until Matt's phone started to ring loudly."Um, that was Zacky.He asked if he could meet us here, he said that Gena stayed at the mall with some guy." I couldn't help but laugh slightly as Val shook her head.
Finally around 2, Zacky had made an appearance."Hey guys-Oh wow uh hi Marigold." His face had changed dramatically once he saw my face come into view.I sighed deeply and looked up at him."Sit down, Zack." I notioned for him to take the empty chair beside me which he hestitated until after a couple seconds of pondering."So Z what happened at the mall?" Matt asked cooly as he took a sip of his new beer.I noticed Zacky roll his eyes, obviously not wanting to bring it up."She just so happens to run into a 'friend' from college." He mumbled, sighing.
"Lets go sit by the water!" Val hiccuped loudly, making us all laugh loudly."Alright baby lets go." Matt said as we all finished our beers before heading out to the beach and lounging around on the warm sand.I handed Zacky another beer before giving him a faint smile.He looked up at me slightly confused but none the less smiled back and accepted it gracefully.
"I don't know why I'm even doing this, but I forgive you Zacky." I mumbled softly, leaning my head onto his shoulder.He smiled wide and planted a kiss on my forehead."Thank you Marigold.I really didn't think you were ever going to forgive me." He admitted shyly, frowning.I shook my head "You know, what happened in Miami is in the past.When they raped me, I felt like they took everything.And well I thought about it, but I couldn't do that Zacky.I couldn't let you go.You're my best friend, I love you."
A look of relief instantly washed over him as he smiled."I love you too, Mar.I promise I will always protect you like a best friend should."
