The Forbidden Object

1/1

The paper was lying flat on the table, a rectangular sea of white disrupted with neat blue lines and black ink smudges. She was staring, entranced by the object, counting the blue lines and taking in the shape of every ink stain. The smudges seemed to jump out at her, and she could hear the paper calling her name. She had to touch it. The girl reached her arm out, a pale snake slithering towards the paper.

Just as the serpent unhinged its jaw to snatch up its target, the sheet folded into itself, an imperfect and wrinkled sphere. The snake snapped its mouth shut, planning it's next attack. As the creature prepared for a second strike, the crumpled object sprouted wings and leapt off of its pedestal and into the air, pausing mid-air before soaring across the universe, ending its life as well as its journey by sailing into the deep abyss that is the garbage can.

The snake rested on the table and became an arm again, as the master glared at the paper's former holder, feeling a mixture of anger and defeat.

So this is awful and was written very quickly. But it's my first attempt at surrealism. Please leave criticism.
