“To Michael’s recovery!”

We all raised our bottles in the air and cheered.

Michael’s smile grew wider as he wrapped an arm around my waist.

“And to Michael and Tyler for finally telling us they were a fuckin’ couple! Way to keep us out of the loop, guys.”
I stuck my tongue out at Skylar and took a sip of my beer.

Hanging out with close friends, drinking beer and dancing to music, wrapped in my boyfriend’s arms.

It was just fun to be like this again.

A couple of more drinks and I seemed to be on cloud nine – fuck, maybe cloud ten if possible.
I giggled non-stop as I pulled Michael outside with me, kissing him on the lips shortly after.

“Why are we out here?”
“I wanted to look at the stars with you.”

He smiled again.

“Remember which one was Ursa Major?”
“Not a fair question when I’m partially wasted…”

“So you’d rather find the Big Dipper again?”
“Nah, too easy…”

“You’re ridiculous…”
I smirked.

“But you know you love me.”
My smirked faded a bit.

“Right…?”

Michael saw it and pulled me close, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

“It’s just, we both just been through some tough shit lately…and I wouldn’t blame you…”

“I love you, Tyler. Don’t ever doubt that. Okay?”
I nodded.

“I’m serious. Get rid of the thought. Now.”
“It’s gone!” I smiled again.

It grew quiet between us as we looked up to the sky.

“Do you think we’ll see a supernova tonight?”
“I don’t know. I’m not an astronaut. Anyway, let’s just enjoy the stars that are alive and actually visible.” He joked.

“Tyler! Michael! Get yo’ asses in here! We’re about to play Mario Kart!”
AJ called over the music.

"So much for enjoying the 'stars that are alive'." I joked back.
“Oh well. Think we can beat AJ and Josh again?”
I smirked again.

“Yeah, we can.”

I held Michael’s hand in mine – it didn’t tremble or shake; it was perfectly calm – as we walked back into the house.

I don’t want to escape reality anymore, not when Michael is here.
It’s not so bad anymore when I have someone like him with me.
