Teenage Casanova

NOBODY'S BUSINESS

Well, this is awkward.

Awkward probably didn’t even cover the tension that was flowing through the room as the four of them stood there, nobody saying a thing.

Kennedy, Harry mused as a smile rose to his face. She was here. She was actually here. He had no idea why, nor was he really looking for a reason right at that moment, but he was thrilled.

Nobody could say the same about Kennedy though as she held her hands at her sides, both of them balled into fists and ready to throw down if the idiot in front of her said anything that she didn’t want to hear. Harry knew he probably shouldn’t open his mouth, he probably should have just turned around and left before something bad happened. But was he going to? Of course he wasn’t.

“You look good, Kennedy,” he reached forward and took a strand of her hair in his hand, twirling it around as he continued to smile. “Though, if you ask me, you definitely look better without any clothes on.”

“Back off, perv,” she grabbed his wrist and squeezed it hard, her eyes beaming into him as if she was to say ‘if-you-want-to-keep-your-hands-you-better-keep-them-to-yourself’. He rolled his eyes and dropped her hair, giving him his freedom once she let go of his wrist. “What the hell are you doing here, Harry?”

“I could ask you the same thing, gorgeous.”

“Wait, I don’t get it. You two know each other?” Niall popped in and put some distance between both Harry and Kennedy, a little afraid that if they were to get any closer she might rip his head off. He paused for a moment, as if he was thinking about something, and turned to face his friend again. “Wait, Harry…This is Kennedy?”

Harry nodded and looked around Niall to get a better look at the gorgeous girl he wanted more than anything. Even when she was angry she was still as beautiful as ever. The only thing wrong with this picture was the guy standing very closely behind her.

“Can someone please explain to me what is going on?” Zayn spoke up as he put his hands on Kennedy’s shoulders and tried to get her to calm down. He leaned down towards her ear and whispered, “Are you okay?”

She turned her full attention to him at this point, ignoring Harry and exchanging a few quiet words with Zayn. Harry wasn’t exactly sure what they were talking about, but by the look Zayn gave Harry once he looked back up, he could assume that she was filling him in on his “wrong doings”. The smile he had slowly faded as he watched Zayn place his hand on Kennedy’s cheek, as if he was trying to calm her down and comfort her.

And then it hit him; what Niall had said earlier before they got there.

“Wait, you two are dating?!” Harry stared at them with huge eyes, trying to understand what was going on. There was no way. No way that they were together. Niall had to be wrong…right?

“What?” Both Kennedy and Zayn looked up at him like he was insane.

“You two! You’re shacking up!” Harry let out a huff and crossed his arms to mimic Kennedy. “You’re sleeping together! Oh, that’s good. So you have a problem with sleeping with me, but you go shack up with probably some serial killer?!”

“Hey!” Zayn piped up, but was quickly interrupted by Kennedy.

“You are completely out of your mind!” Kennedy raised her voice and glared right at him. “You’re overreacting! And even so, it’s none of your damn business! So why don’t you just get lost, huh? Don’t you have some slut to sleep with?”

“Oh, like your sister?”

Now, Harry has said some pretty stupid things in his life before. The first time, it was when he was seven and he told his homeroom teacher that she dressed like a whore; something he had heard his parents say before. The result? He was suspended for a few days and forced to take a class in manors.

The second time, he told a police officer, while wasted, that he would wash his car for him and then proceeded to pull his pants down and pissed right all over the car. The result? Landed him behind bars for 24 hours for the second time that year.

And third? He called Kennedy’s sister, his new girlfriend, a slut.

The result? Well…

Kennedy jumped right at him and managed to catch him off guard as she pushed him to the floor. She pulled her arm back, ready to hit him, but was stopped when Zayn came from behind and pulled her off of him forcibly.

“You are such a bastard! I knew you didn’t give a damn about my sister! You’re a good for nothing prick and I hope you get what you deserve one of these days!” She tried her best to yank away from Zayn, her hands trying to fling at Harry so that she could strangle him or beat the shit out of him.

“Okay, okay. Time out.” Niall stepped between the two once again to give them even more distance. Kennedy managed to free herself from Zayn’s grasp and said something quietly to him before storming off into the back of the apartment.

“I’m gonna go check on dinner…” Zayn pointed his thumb over his shoulder towards the kitchen before giving Harry a glare and heading in that direction, leaving the two other boys alone.

“Wow, I really thought she was gonna hit me again!” Harry laughed as she propped himself up on his elbows. “I think she just walked to get on top me and put her hands all over my body. Don’t you think?”

“Are you serious right now?” Niall stared down at him like he was insane. “Harry, you can’t just say things like that. Especially considering you are dating the girl you just called a slut!”

Harry groaned and fell back onto the floor. He had to admit, he definitely messed up with this one. Sure, he’s called girls these kinds of things to their faces. But he felt like this time it was different. He was dating Kennedy’s sister, said “slut”, and Kennedy could easily go to her sister and fill her in on it. And, in the end, ruining his plan to get closer to her and getting her to fall for him.

“Look, I was just caught off surprise by the two of them, okay? I wasn’t thinking.”

“That’s the thing, Harry! You never think!” Niall seemed more upset than Harry would have imagined. “I was looking forward to a really nice evening catching up with my friend and you’re ruining it with yours and Kennedy’s drama!”

“Niall…”

“Can you please sideline this arguing and just please let me have this one night? No more drama, no more fighting. Can you please go apologize to her? For me?”

Harry sighed and sat back up, his heart sinking. He knew what he said was wrong. He shouldn’t have gone that far, no matter how ticked off he was. Niall was one of his best friends and he didn’t want to ruin his night. So, as hard as it would be for him, he would bury his pride and apologize.

He picked himself off the floor and poured himself a drink, knowing that he would definitely need one to deal with her at the moment, and poured a second cup as he headed towards the direction Kennedy ran off to.

“Hey,” Harry popped his head around the corner and gave her a half smile. She glanced up at him, her knees pulled to her chest, but immediately turned away when she saw who it was standing there. “Can we talk?”

“Just leave me alone.”

Harry sighed and walked further into the room, pulling the door slightly closed with his foot. He walked towards her and extended his hand with a glass of wine towards her. “Peace offering.”

“I’m not legal.”

“I won’t tell if you won’t.” He couldn’t help but smile, remembering the exact conversation when they went on their date. It seemed like so long ago, though in reality it was hardly even a month. A part of him wished that they could go back to that night. He could have changed things and ended this already.

But, then again, did he want that?

She refused to look at him as she took the glass from him and sipped it slowly. “What do you want, Harry? If you haven’t noticed, I’m not your biggest fan and I really don’t want to hear you making more horrible remarks about my sister; your girlfriend!”

He frowned and sat on the edge of the bed, turning his body so that he could face her. “Look, I know that I’m not your favorite person in the world right now. Or, ever, really. I’ve done some pretty rotten things to you and I admit I’ve made mistakes,” he sighed and stared down at his own cup. “I didn’t mean what I said back there. I was just a bit frustrated and I’m sorry.”

“You really think saying sorry is going to make up for everything?”

“Of course I don’t,” Harry shrugged. He couldn’t actually believe that he was apologizing. There’s a first time for everything, right? He was just really glad that Luca wasn’t here to give him hell for it. “I’m not expecting you to forgive me, okay? But can we press pause on this for tonight? Niall is really happy to be back and I don’t want to ruin the rest of his night fighting with you.”

“I’m not the problem, Harry. You are.”

“Thanks for candy coating it.” He mumbled.

“You called my sister a slut.”

“That’s beside the point.”

“You’re not making this any easier on yourself, you know.” She snapped.

“Kennedy,” Harry stared her down, being completely serious for the first time. “Can we please just take a time out? After tonight I’ll personally let you insult me anytime you want.” He leaned in close, sticking his bottom lip out and giving her the puppy dog eyes, trying to get her to agree. He wasn’t 100% sure, but he thought he might have even seen her crack a small smile.

His heart did a few flips as he stared at her. For the first time since everything went completely wrong, they were having an actual conversation. And it kind of felt good. She wasn’t yelling or getting frustrated with him and he wasn’t being a complete jerk. They were talking and a part of him really wanted to this more often.

But, of course, he knew that wouldn’t happen unless he could get her to trust him.

“Fine,” she nodded and glanced over at him. “I’ll do it for Zayn’s friend, but just for tonight. Tomorrow we go back to the way things were.”

The way things were.

Harry wasn’t sure why, but the thought of that made his heart sink a bit. He knew that deep down she hated him…and it really bothered him. Of course he deserved it, even he could see that the things he’s said and the things he’s done obviously caused him to deserve it. But it didn’t make him feel any less bad about it.

He thought back to his conversation with Luca before this new game started. Was what he was doing wrong? Was this game wrong? Kennedy obviously wasn’t interested in him and he wasn’t sure if she ever would be, no matter what.

So was he wasting his time?

“Are you coming, ‘pal’?” She smirked as she stood by the door, bringing him back to the reality of the situation. And that was that she was actually going to give him a chance tonight. At least, she would pretend to. So maybe he could take that chance to show her that maybe she didn’t have to pretend after all.

Harry couldn’t help but smile as he pushed himself off the bed and walked out the door with her to rejoin their friends. And just in time too, because a loud crash came sounding from the kitchen, followed by Zayn yelling, “No!” The two of them gave each other a look as if to say ‘what the hell’ and hurried in that direction.

Red sauce was splattered everywhere as a blob of noodles spread across the floor. Niall and Zayn stood there, both of their shirts covered in the red sauce as the two looked at them.

“I thought the kitchen needed a makeover?” Zayn looked at Kennedy and sighed, giving her an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, Kennedy. I ruined it.”

“Zayn wouldn’t let me help so when he yanked it away it kind of went,” Niall looked around, making a face, “well, everywhere.”

“If you wouldn’t have tried to take it from me!”

“Well if you just would have let me help none of this would happen!” Niall pushed his shoulder, getting one in return from Zayn. Kennedy couldn’t help but smile as she grabbed some paper towels from the counter and went to help clean up the mess.

“Look, it’s no big deal. It was just spaghetti. We can go out and get something instead,” she looked up and met eyes with Zayn. “Are you gonna help me clean up your mess?”

Harry watched as Zayn knelt down opposite from her, his hand placed gently on top of hers as they wiped up the sauce mess. Their faces were close and Harry could tell they were having another one of their private conversations. His stomach twisted in knots as he gritted his teeth and turned to walk out of the kitchen, Niall following quickly behind.

“So?”

“So…?” Harry raised an eyebrow at his friend.

“Don’t leave me hanging!” Niall slapped Harry’s shoulder, wanting more details. “Did you two make up?”

“Somewhat,” Harry sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “Look, we’re going to be civil for tonight, okay? No more fighting, I promise.”

“Good.” Niall smiled widely as he went to turn back to go into the kitchen, but was stopped when Harry grabbed his arm.

“Niall,” Harry mumbled hesitantly. “Were you serious when you said that Zayn was dating…her? They’re dating?”

“Oh,” Niall stopped and looked back at him. “I don’t really know. I just assumed, because Zayn doesn’t usually hang out with many people since he’s a shy guy. Especially with the ladies. Why–wait,” he grinned a bit. “Are you jealous?”

“Hell no!”

“You are!” Niall covered his mouth, about ready to explode with glee. “Harry Styles has a heart after all!”

“Can you just shut up? Okay,” he grumbled and yanked on his curls, completely stressed out, “I’m jealous.” He practically whispered.

“I’m sorry, what was that?” Niall held his hand cupped to his ear. “Care to repeat that?”

“I’m so done with this. Look, if you repeat it to anyone you are so dead, got it? The only reason I’m jealous is because I want to sleep with her and her dating someone else is going to get in the way, okay? That’s it.”

The truth was, Harry wasn’t exactly sure if that’s why he felt a little bit of jealousy at the thought of Kennedy dating that Zayn guy. Of course if the two of them were actually together that could ruin everything he was working for. But he wasn’t quite sure if that was the only reason. The more he thought of the two of them being together or sleeping together or, really, doing anything together made him sick. He was the one that she was supposed to sleep with. He was the one that was chasing after her and doing everything to get her.

And he wasn’t going to let this guy take that away from him.

He glanced back into the kitchen, watching Kennedy and Zayn rising from the floor and smiling at each other, their bodies slightly touching. He clenched his hands into fists and glared hard at them, the feeling inside intensifying.

He wasn’t giving up.

Harry felt his entire body growing more and more furious every time he watched Kennedy with Zayn. It didn’t even matter what they were doing, but everything about them just ticked him off.

He wanted nothing more than to make this guy disappear so that nobody could get in his way of Kennedy. She was his and he wasn’t going to let some new guy come in on his territory. No way, no how.

The four of them left the burger stand and headed down the sidewalk towards the beach. Zayn and Kennedy led in front of them, their arms basically touching as they walked and their closeness just pushing Harry over the edge.

“Look at them,” Harry grumbled to Niall as he glared on at the sight. “Nobody wants to see that. I mean, come on.”

“Jealous.” Niall hummed.

Harry threw him an unsettling look before storming forward and pushing his way between Kennedy and Zayn, throwing his arms over their shoulders.

“So, pals, how’s it going?”

“We were kind of talking about something, thank you very much.” Zayn pulled away from the other boy’s grasp and glared as he was practically left behind when Harry continued to lead Kennedy away.

“I told you that you and I would put a pause on our fighting, but that doesn’t mean that I want to spend time with you.” She tried to push her hands against his side to get away from him, but he just pulled her closer when she did so.

“Well I want to spend time with you. Come on, don’t be so mean, Kenny.” Harry teased the nickname that Hannah always used with her, which only got him a glare in response.

“Don’t push it, Harry.” She finally pushed him away as the four of them found a spot in the sand and Kennedy and Niall plopped down into it.

“I’m so thirsty,” Niall complained as he fanned himself to keep from dying over the heat. “Harry, go get me a drink.”

“We just left from food and you couldn’t get a drink back there? Also, you have legs!” Harry rolled his eyes.

“I’m actually kind of thirsty myself.” Kennedy piped up.

“Why don’t I go get us something then?” Zayn smiled down at her as he headed off in the direction of some drink stand back on the sidewalk.

You are so not impressing anyone.

“Why don’t I go help him?” Harry’s mood completely changed as he jogged off to catch up with Zayn, leaving both Kennedy and Niall a bit confused. They just glanced at each other and laughed it off.

The two boys stood in an awkward silence as Zayn fiddled with some straws on the stand. Harry looked him over, trying to figure out what the hell Kennedy apparently saw in this guy, but found nothing. He was ordinary. Sure, he had that ‘bad boy’ sense about him, but he seemed like a completely ordinary guy.

“So,” Harry finally broke their silence as Zayn glanced in his direction. “You and Kennedy, huh?”

“What about us?” Zayn raised his eyebrow at the other boy, a little confused by his commentary on his own personal business.

“You two seem to be getting quite friendly. She must be something in bed, huh? I’ve been trying to get with that for a little while now.” If he couldn’t just get them to admit it straight up, maybe he could push it out of him.

Zayn choked out a cough as he stared at Harry like he was insane. “You think I’m sleeping with her?”

“Are you not? I mean, I don’t blame you. Kennedy is really fine and I’m sure she’s a freak in bed.”

Harry just nudged Zayn with his elbow as he grabbed the drinks from the counter, leaving Zayn there to pay for them as he started to head back towards the other two. He should have known that this guy wouldn’t just leave it alone

“Hey!” Zayn caught Harry’s arm and yanked him to the side, stopping him from walking any further. “You and I need to talk.”

“Can I help you?” Harry tried to yank his arm away, but the grip Zayn held grew stronger as his eyes glared into his.

“I know all about you, okay? Kennedy has told me everything. And I’m not going to let you drag her into your plans, you got it? She’s a good person and I am not going to let you get your hands on her.” Zayn spoke low, trying to keep his conversation as private as possible. “I’m not a violent person, but I swear if you hurt her in any way I won’t hesitate in kicking your ass.”

Harry was finally able to free himself as he yanked away from the older boy and huffed out a laugh. “Is that a threat, Zayn?”

“It’s a promise.” The boy continued to stay as serious as possible. Harry was a bit surprised that Zayn was threatening. From what Niall had told him about him, he seemed like he couldn’t hurt a fly. But the look that this guy held in his eyes told another story.

“You seem like a good guy, Zayn, but I don’t take threats lightly.” He shifted his stance and smirked in the direction of Kennedy. “And I’m also not going to just back off of her. I want her and I don’t think you’re going to stop me.”

“Then I think you know where you and I stand.” Zayn grabbed the drinks from Harry’s hands and walked past him, bumping his shoulder hard against his own as he headed back towards where Kennedy and Niall were sitting.

Harry watched him walk away and couldn’t help but want to kick his ass right then and there. How dare he threaten him? Nobody had ever spoke to him about a girl that way. He couldn’t help but wonder what his intentions of Kennedy were. He never answered his question on whether or not the two were sleeping together and he really hoped that it wasn’t true. Could they really together?

No. No, they’re not. You’ve still got a chance.

He pushed away all his thoughts of Zayn away and quickly led his eyes to what he wanted to focus on. The beautiful girl sitting in the sand next to his friend. She smiled widely as they talked and he couldn’t help but have his own smile watching her. She was probably the only girl that could bring a smile to his face.

Her eyes moved in his direction as she smiled at him and pulled her hand up to wave. He was a bit surprised as he started to mimic her moves, but immediately realized that she wasn’t meaning him at all; instead her attention was to Zayn who was joining them.

“That’s it.” He mumbled to himself as he stormed in their direction. He wasn’t going to give Zayn the satisfaction of threatening him and still getting the girl. He had to get her attention somehow. And he knew exactly what to do.

He pushed past Zayn and smirked as he leaned down towards her. “Hey Kennedy? Don’t you want to go swimming?” He didn’t even give her the chance to answer as he quickly picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, heading towards the ocean.

“Harry! Put me down right now!” She kicked and pounding her arms against his back as he grinned, kicking off his sandals and walking out into the water.

“Oh, don’t be like that!” Harry threw his head back with a laugh as he walked farther out into the water, it finally rising up to his knees. “How about I let you down?”

“Don’t you dare!” She gripped onto his shirt to keep from him tossing her into the cold water. “I swear I will punch you!”

Harry thought about it for a moment before grinning. “Yeah, a punch is so worth it.” And with that, he pulled her away and dropped her right into the water.

Kennedy popped up quickly and didn’t waste any time before slamming her body against Harry’s and tackling him down into the water. He pushed himself up and laughed, pushing her back.

He couldn’t believe it. The two of them were actually having a good time together. Not just him, but Kennedy was actually laughing along with him. He felt the butterflies flock around in his stomach as he moved a little closer to her, their laughter fading as he neared her face.

This was his chance.

Harry started to lean in, taking both of them by surprise. He was going to do it. He was going to kiss her and, by the looks of it, she wasn’t pulling away just yet.

And, of course, it had to be completely ruined.

“Heads up!” Niall yelled as he threw something in Harry’s direction. Harry turned his head back to look and was struck by a ball that had come completely out of nowhere. It bounced off his head and he stumbled back, releasing Kennedy from whatever was happening at that moment.

“You are so dead!” Harry grabbed the same ball and tossed it towards Niall, forgetting for a moment about what he was about to do and focusing on his friend.

Unfortunately for him, him leaving her alone left her open for anyone to come in and swoop his moment away.

“Hey,” Zayn smiled as he neared Kennedy, his hand extending towards her. “Come on, get up.”

She glanced up at the gorgeous boy in front of her, her heart skipping a beat as she did. She was so caught up in Harry for a second that she hadn’t even noticed that Zayn had joined them in the water and that he was now standing shirtless in front of her with water dripping down his torso.

She swallowed quickly as her eyes scanned over him. He was absolutely gorgeous. No, he was more than gorgeous and she wasn’t sure there was a word that could exactly describe what she wanted to think about him. You got to keep it cool, Kennedy, she thought to herself as she reached forward and grabbed his hand, pulling herself up.

Harry had made his way back to Niall and sighed as soon as he was in earshot of him. “You just had to throw that at me, huh? I was about to make my move!”

“Harry, you can’t!” Niall hissed as he yanked on his friend’s arm. “You are dating her sister, okay? It’s not right.”

He had completely forgotten about Hannah. He groaned and smacked his forehead, knowing that Niall was right. She was part of his plan to get Kennedy and there was no way he could just ignore the fact that he needed her.

Harry turned to glance back towards Kennedy and Zayn, wishing that he could hear what the two were talking about as Zayn pulled her up to his level.

“I hadn’t expected the night to turn out like this.” He chuckled as Kennedy looked up at him, her heart racing.

“Oh, uh, me too.” Kennedy looked away quickly, trying not to stare at the shirtless boy whose body was practically pushed up against hers.

“I meant to ask, what were you upset about earlier? Before Niall and Harry got to the apartment, you seemed really bothered about something.”

Of course he had to bring that up, she sighed internally as she turned her attention back towards him.

“I was… Well, you see,” she groaned a bit, knowing that she should just tell him instead of keeping secrets from him. “Look… I was just wondering…why didn’t you kiss me when you and I were dancing?”

Zayn blushed instantly as his eyes widened a bit. “Oh…”

“Look, if you just didn’t want to kiss me, that’s okay. I just thought that something was going on, but I was obviously wrong.”

“You weren’t wrong,” Zayn sighed. “I wanted to kiss you, I did. I just… I know it’s really dorky to say, but I wanted to wait until the moment was right. And, I don’t know, I just was nervous and I didn’t know if you wanted to kiss me and I’m awkward.”

“Zayn,” she chuckled and shook her head. “It’s okay.”

“So… I can kiss you?”

Her face went red and she bit her lip. She had never really been asked if someone could kiss her before. “Sure…” Sure? That’s all you can say? God, you’re so embarrassing!

Zayn smiled a bit as he placed both of his hands and each of Kennedy’s cheeks and leaned in slowly. His breath hit her and paralyzed her slightly as he hesitated. She wanted to just scream at him to do so that she could stop having this internal freak out over it, but the more he hesitated, the more her heart flew out of control.

And then it happened.

His lips slipped gently against hers as her eyes slowly closed and she gave herself completely into it.

And it felt so good.

Harry’s eyes shot open wide as he stared at the two of them standing a bit away and lip locked. You’ve got to be kidding me! He wanted to just march over there and interrupt, but Niall grabbed his arm and stopped him from doing so.

He had lost. He had really lost. This guy had gotten the girl.

No. Fucking. Way.

He wasn’t going to just give in. They wanted to be together? Sure, go ahead. But that wouldn’t last long. He wasn’t going to let this guy have the girl he wanted.

And he would do anything he had to do to stop it from happening.

Oh, Kennedy… You’ve got the wrong guy. But you’ll see. One day you’ll realize that it was me you wanted all along. I’ll make sure of that.

Alright, I'm sorry that this chapter sucks. I was struggling with it a lot. Which is why it's a day late so sorry for that too! Sorry if it sucks XD Well, the bickering has subsided at least for a little bit. But how long will that last? Also, that little kiss at the end will go into more detail next chapter from Kennedy's POV ;)

Question Time:
1.) Do you think Harry and Kennedy will be back to normal or be able to be friends?
2.) How about that kiss? Do you think that will lead to something new?
3.) Is Harry's jealousy going to get in the way of Kennedy and Zayn?

Any questions? You can ask me here:
