You Are Not Alone

Meet and Greet

Lily stepped through the door, following Carrie into the room. Taking in her surroundings, the room was quite a plain looking. The carpet and walls were both white. A few advertisement posters adorned the walls. There was a small clock on one wall. A long table was against one of the walls, filled with bottles of water and some snacks. There was a large, black couch along the wall, across from the door. As Carrie moved off to the side, Michael was sitting on it. The butterflies in Lily's stomach suddenly went crazy.

Michael looked up as a security guard announced their presence. Michael smiled sweetly as his eyes fell on Carrie. When he looked over to see Lily, he cracked his famous million-dollar smile. Standing up, he walked over to them. Giving Carrie a small hug, he moved of to stand in front of Lily. She gasped quietly as Michael wrapped his arms around her. Carrie wore a smug smile, noticing he hugged Lily just a little bit longer. Michael stepped back, a smile on his face.

"I'm Michael. It's nice to meet you! May I ask your names?" Michael asked, sweetly.

"It's nice to meet you, too! I'm Carrie," Lily's friend replied instantly. Michael turned to look at Lily, an expectant smile on his face. She couldn't seem to remember how to talk. Carrie elbowed her slightly, and Lily shook her head to clear her thoughts.

"I-I'm Lily", she finally responded, shyly.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl", Michael said quietly. He blushed, almost as if he hadn't meant to say that out loud.

Lily turned as red as a tomato, making Michael smile even wider. By now, a full-blown smirk was on Carrie's face. Michael sat on the couch, inviting the girls to do the same. Carrie made sure that Lily took the seat next to Michael.

"Did you ladies enjoy the show?" Michael asked, genuinely wanting their opinion.

"It was awesome! You really know how to put on a show!" Carrie responded, enthusiastically.

"How about you, Miss Lily?" Michael asked, his eyes twinkling. Lily couldn't help but blush even brighter at the way he adressed her.

"Oh, yes! You're so talented. The way you sing and dance is amazing, Mr. Jackson!" Lily blushed and looked down, embarrassed at how she had gushed about him.

"Oh, please, call me Michael," he said with a smile. "And thank you so much for the compliment. It means a lot to me to hear that", Michael blushed at the praise she gave him.

Carrie nudged Lily discreetly. Prompting with her eyes, trying to get Lily to converse with Michael. Hesitantly, Lily spoke. "How is the tour going? Are you enjoying all the different places?" She noticed how his eyes held a subtle look of sadness.

"I don't really get to enjoy the sites, to be honest. It's very difficult for me to go out in public. It's a lot of hard work and very tiring. It's worth it though. I really enjoy having the opportunity to connect with my fans", at the mention of his fans, Michael's sadness seemed to fade away.

"I imagine it probably is quite exhausting. I'm sorry us fans are so crazy that you can't even go out in public," Lily responded with a humorous smile. Michael giggled and she was pretty sure it was the cutest sound she'd ever heard.

"It's quite alright. I know they mean well and I wouldn't be here without them", Michael spoke kindly. "Besides, you two don't really seem like most fans. You haven't screamed, fainted or attacked me." Michael said with a smirk. Blushing, Lily giggled. "You definitely handled yourself better than most girls that are brought on stage", with that, Michael winked at her. Lily was sure her face was brighter than the sun by now.

"I'm surprised her legs worked long enough to walk her back to her seat after that! She was so nervous!" Carrie snickered. Lily elbowed her friend in the ribs, completely embarrassed. Turning to her, Carrie stuck her tongue out.

"Are you two sisters?" Michael asked, laughing.

"Not technically, but we might as well be. She knows she loves me!" Carrie replied, hugging her embarrassed friend. Lily couldn't help but grin.

"Yes, I do. For some reason", Lily said, teasingly. Michael thought the way the girls acted towards each other was rather adorable.

"So, how do you two know each other then?" Michael questioned.

"We met in our freshman year of high school. We've been best friends ever since! We even went to the same college and took all the same courses", Carrie supplied. Michael nodded understandingly.

"I did notice you both have American accents. Where are you from and what brings you to Europe?" Michael was genuinely interested. He wanted to know everything he possibly could about the beautiful woman sitting next to him.

"We're from New York. Well, I was born in England. I moved to America with my mom when I was five, after my parents divorced. My dad lives in Germany now. He's a heart surgeon and there was a job opportunity there, so he took it. I always come to visit him for my birthday and this was my gift!" Lily was surprised that she was managing to carry on an intelligible conversation with her idol.

"Oh, really? When is your birthday?" Michael asked with curiosity.

"August twenty-fifth. I just turned twenty-four", Lily answered.

"Our birthdays are quite close then! Happy late birthday!" Michael said with a smile.

"Thank you. Happy birthday to you, too....again." Lily replied in kind. Blushing at the memory of being on stage with him.

"Thank you, Miss Lily", Michael giggled. He, too, seemed to blush at the memory.

Carrie couldn't help but notice the strong chemistry between Michael and her best friend. She really wanted to give them some more time together. Deciding to do just that, she asked to use the facilities. Winking at Lily, she excused herself from the room.

"So, did you have a favorite part of the concert?" Michael asked once Carried had left the room. He couldn't help but notice how nervous Lily seemed at being alone with him.

"Well, it was pretty amazing getting to dance with you on stage", Lily said before she could stop herself. She blushed yet again. Closing her eyes, she willed herself to stop making a fool of herself. Michael blushed as well, but he looked pleased.

"I quite enjoyed dancing with you as well", Michael replied, smiling shyly at the floor.

"R-really?" Lily asked, shocked by his response. Michael looked up, staring into her eyes.

"What man wouldn't enjoy dancing with a pretty girl in his arms?" Michael said, smiling shyly and biting his lip. Lily really hadn't expected to hear him say that to her.

"Y-you think I'm p-pretty?" Lily asked, genuinely surprised. Michael was shocked at the doubtful expression on her face.

"You are the most beautiful creature I've ever seen", Michael replied softly. He stared into Lily's eyes and she couldn't have looked away if she wanted to. It was almost as if he had her under a spell.

"You're beautiful, too, Michael", Lily said, surprising herself at her boldness. Her voice was barely audible, but Michael heard her. He smiled sweetly, blushing. Michael couldn't help but reach out and touch one of her curls. Lily didn't dare move. She couldn't believe this was happening.

Several minutes later, the door opened. Michael quickly dropped his hand, clearing his throat nervously. Carrie walked in and sat down. She knew something must have happened. You could cut the tension with a knife!

Deciding not to mention it, Carrie started a conversation with Michael. Lily joined in as well. It was obvious to Carrie that her friend was acting even more shy now though. She noticed how they would blush when they caught each other's eye.

Since Lily and Carrie were his last guests, Michael had talked with them a lot longer than the previous groups. It may have also had to do with the fact that he didn't really want to part from Lily's company.

Eventually, a security guard knocked and walked in. He informed Michael that they really needed to be leaving if they wanted to stay on schedule. Begrudgingly, Michael stood up, the girls getting up as well. He took a few pictures with them and gave them each an autograph. Lily smiled as she read his message to her:

To Miss Lily,

Thank you so much for coming to see me. I really enjoyed our dance and getting to know a bit about you. You made my birthday quite enjoyable! Have a safe trip when you go back home and who knows? Maybe one day, our paths will cross again, beautiful creature!

Love,

Michael Jackson

When Lily looked up, Michael was staring at her. She blushed, knowing he had seen her grinning like a school girl. He just smiled and winked.

Saying their goodbyes, Michael hugged each of the girls. Saving Lily for last, he hugged her tightly, inhaling her scent. He wanted to lock it in his memory forever. The two of them were so wrapped up in each other. Trying to imprint this moment into their brains, neither seemed to notice as Carrie discreetly slipped a folded piece of paper into Michael's pocket.

With one last wave, Michael sadly said goodbye. Closing the door, he leaned against it. Sighing, Michael stuck his hands into his pockets, pondering on the obvious connection he had felt with Lily. His thoughts were put on hold as he felt something in his pocket. Pulling it out, Michael found the slip of paper. Unfolding it, he read:

Michael,

I couldn't help but notice the way you and Lily were looking at each other. I know you're a busy man, but if you have the time, you might find this helpful.. ;)

Carrie

Michael smiled as his eyes reached the bottom of the note..
