The Impact of One Moment

Big Change (Jack POV)

I called Randy the next day to meet up and talk things out. I was pretty sure that I was ready to break up with him. He was not happy about having to come but I wouldn’t stop saying he needed to come until he came.

When he arrived, he slouched down on the couch next to me. He threw a lame “Hi Jack,” to me. Nothing else. Not even a kiss. Lame.

“Um okay so I thought it was time that we talked,” I begun.

“About what?” Randy asked defensively.

“Us. I mean our relationship.”

“So?”

“I feel like you don’t care about me anymore,” I said quietly.

“Of course I care!” Randy exclaimed.

“Oh well then explain to me why you’ve never even come over during the last week? Like you knew I was hurt and would love some comfort but no, you don’t even text me to check on me!” I said, getting a little louder. I was hurt and I was ready to voice that.

“Calm down. I just didn’t text you because I assumed you were okay and didn’t need me,” Randy said, crossing his arms.

“I was hit by a fucking bus you dipwad!” I shouted. I was really upset now.

“Well then maybe you should have paid better attention when crossing the street,” Randy replied. His voice was as cold as ice.

“Yeah okay you know what? Fucking leave. I’m no longer your boyfriend. I don’t need you to come here and tell me I’m too stupid to cross a street. Bye,” I said, my voice taking on a cold tone as well now.

“Yeah, bye,” he scoffed, got up and left.

“I hope I’ll never see you again!” I shouted as he closed the door. I held back my tears for a few more seconds but then collapsed on the sofa. It hurt to cry but everything hurt anyways.

After a good 10 minutes of crying, I got my phone and speed-dialled Alex.

“Alex? Can you come over?” I croaked into the phone.

“Sure! Can I bring anything with me for you?” he said.

“A bucket full of ice-cream and loads of chocolate would be nice,” I sobbed.

“I’ll get some. But hey, what’s wrong?” he asked concernedly.

“I broke up with Mr Asswipe,” I said, having to smile a little at the expression.

“Oh wow. Be there in a bit!” Jack said.

“Thank you,” I replied and ended the call. I got myself a tissue to wipe my nose and look a bit more presentable, wiped my nose and forced myself to get up and comb my hair. Then, I wrapped myself in the blanket again and got back on the couch. Alex was on his way. Everything would be alright.
