Chloe.

Her name was on my tongue, burning it, but I couldn't speak.

She watched Austin, her green eyes narrowed. She went completely stiff when he claimed he didn't kill me.

"You must really be sick if you think I'll believe you."

"Chloe." Austin's voice was strangled, his eyes pleading.

I sat next to Chloe, and as much as I watched to reach for her hand, to reassure her that I was still here, I couldn't.

When my sister announced that she wanted to leave, someone came to bring Austin back to his cell. As he turned away from her, Chloe spoke so softly that I almost didn't hear her.

"God help you."

Austin didn't look back.
