where is he?
The next morning I wake up, remembering that Alex didn't come home last night. I wonder if he's asleep on the couch, maybe he worked really late. I get up and go downstairs, but the couch is empty. He hasn't been back. Must be a long case, whatever it is. A few hours pass, and he still hasn't returned. Strange.. I jump as my phone rings, but it's Tom.
"Hey Tom." Maybe he knows where he is. "Have you heard from Alex?"
"Umm no, why? He's probably working."
"He left for work yesterday morning but he didn't come back.. He's still not home."
"Huh, weird. Maybe he had to stay? He did say that he hated working in New York, shifts were longer and more criminals, ha."
"Hmm..I guess."
"Don't worry about him, he can take care of himself. Anyway..why are you so worried?? Hmm?"
"Shut up! Why are you calling anyway?"
"Just to see how you're doing, eating?"
"Yes, I've been eating."
"Good. So, do you fancy flying to California with Alex tomorrow??"
"Huh?" I ask.
"Well it's Alex's last day in New York, he's flying home tomorrow, remember?"
Tomorrow Friday.. I completely forgot about that this morning.
"Oh, yeah, right. Umm, why do you want me to fly with him?"
"I was thinking of telling them, tonight.,
"Mmm.. I don't think so Tom. I need a little longer."
"Amy!" He whines. "Please, it's been ages!"
"I know but I kinda need more time."
"Ok fine, let me know tomorrow how you feel, ok? I'm gonna give Alex a call, see where the hell he is."
"Ok, let me know." We hang umm and I find myself chewing the end of my phone impatiently. Ten minutes later my phone rings.
"Hey Tom."
"Hi.." He sounds quiet. "Amy, I called his cell, nothing. I tried his work phone.. They said he was working on a case, and he hasn't been back to the office since yesterday, he was in the middle of a undercover thing... I don't know. They can't get a hold of him."
"Are you serious? How can that happen?"
"I don't know. Listen I gotta go, I'll keep you updated, don't worry!" We hang up and I take a seat. What if he's in danger.. Where is he?
