Days Are Gone

five.

Este scoffed as she ended the call and slid her cell phone in her back pocket. Quinn managed to tear her eyes away from her fiancé as his muscles rippled beneath his plain white t-shirt. The trio were wandering Ikea trying to find the last minute pieces to complete Liam’s nursery. As James added a changing table to their pile of boxes, Quinn threw an arm over her friend’s shoulders.

“Can you believe it? Three weeks we’ve been here and they still haven’t delivered my furniture.” Este tucked a lose piece of hair behind her ear and let out an angry sigh.

Quinn didn’t know what to do but give her friend a squeeze. The blonde couldn’t help but feel guilty. After all, it was her idea to relocate Este. “If it doesn’t show up by next week, James and I will replace what you lost.”

“Absolutely not. I’ll just start working instead of mooching off you guys.. I mean, I should be doing that anyway.”

Before Quinn had a chance respond, James started tapping his foot impatiently, “Excuse me ladies but we have a bunch of furniture to move and I can’t do that if you two keep yapping.”

Quinn rolled her eyes and moved over toward her husband, pushing Liam’s stroller. She stopped just toe to toe with James and smirked, “This lady,” She started referring to herself, “pushed this watermelon of a child out of her body four months ago. She will yap as much as she wants while her handsome, loving fiancé does all the heavy lifting.” Quinn leaned up and gave James a chaste kiss before returning to Este.

Este couldn’t help but pretend to gag as James stretched out his arm and gave Quinn’s bum a good smack. “You two make me sick.”

The blonde shrugged, “Can’t help that I have such a sexy man.”

As they finished up in Ikea, James left the girls with all their purchases as he left with Liam to get the car. Este sat on the curb while Quinn stared intently at her phone. The two waited quietly for a few minutes before a soft, timid voice broke the silence.

“Excuse me, sorry to both you, but you’re James Neal’s wife aren’t you?”

Quinn looked up and smiled, “Not for a few months, I’m afraid.”

The girl gave a sheepish laugh and extended her hand, “Well I’m Nina, huge Pens fan.” She pointed to her sweater proudly, “It’s so nice to meet you. A few of my friends and I run a blog about the team Wags.”

Este peeked over her shoulder with a look of utter confusion, “What the hell is a wag... like a dog?”

Quinn rolled her eyes at her friend, “WAG- Wives and girlfriends, you dope.” She turned her attention back to Nina and smiled, “Quinn, it’s a pleasure. James is just on his way with the car if you’d like to wait and get a photo.”

The girl’s face lit up like a child on Christmas morning. Este tuned out their mindless small talk as she opened up her phone and began scrolling through various social media outlets. Just as she was about to call James and ask what the hell was taking so long, the big black truck pulled up right in front of her. The brunette pushed herself off the ground as James jumped out of the car. Quinn quickly began to introduce Nina to her fiancé.

Finding the small, light boxes, Este began to pack up the truck. She noticed the group was getting themselves situated for a photo when a devilish grin spread across her face. As James began to count down from three, Este tip-toed behind the group and jumped up just in time to photobomb them, tongue sticking out and all.

“Tweet it to me!” Quinn called out as she climbed into the car and watched the girl walk away.
