アニーの遺産

Beep. Beep. Beep. DING!

I watched Sebastian closely. His eyes were looking away from mine, concentrating on pouring the tea he was serving. His hair hung down a bit, a black lock went down his face.

"Sebastian."

He looked up at me finally, his eyebrows pulled up slightly, and his eyes were locked on me. I blinked at the ferocity they held. "Yes, Miss Annie?"

I paused before asking my question. Was it really worth knowing? It wouldn't make much of a difference if I knew what he was right? He already made it obvious to me he wasn't human either.

"What are you?" I asked finally. For a moment I see his eyes flash, but they returned to their normal state just as quickly. "Pardon? I believe I do not understand what you are asking, Miss Annie." He said, and I deadpanned. "Yes you do. I mean, if you aren't human, than what are you? I know for sure you are not my kind."

"And what makes you think that, Miss Annie?" He asked, and I frowned. Well, it was sort of obvious. "Despite the fact that I am one of a kind, even in my own world, there are traits and... mannerisms that the people of Rosebund have that make them very distinctive and apart from humans." I answered, and he blinked slowly. "And those are?"

"Stop trying to change the subject!" I said, and I leaned forward, "If you're not human, if your not Phoelmogen, if your not from Rosebund, then what are you?" I asked. I was getting a bit impatient. "What are you? Grim Reaper?" I prompted, and for a moment I saw Sebastian choke.

Beep.

I smiled, "So you're a Grim Reaper?" I said, and Sebastian furrowed his brows slightly, "No. I am not a Grim Reaper. But I am rather surprised you know of such..." he said. I smirked and shrugged, "The kings and Grim Reapers are in tight ties with each other. It isn't uncommon for one or two to be guarding the kingdom. And there are a great many in the battle field." I stated simply. I don't mention I was also the one they were fighting. Sebastian sighed, "Well... either way, I'm not a Grim Reaper." He said.

I frowned. "Was I close?" I asked. He thought about it, I could see it in his eyes weather he was panning in answering that or not. "Somewhat."

Beep.

What's in line with a reaper? An angel? Haha. He's not an angel. "What about a-"

"If you say 'angel' I won't hold myself from punishing you." He stated blankly. I deadpanned. How did he know that is what I was thinking? But I wasn't going to say that. "I was actually going to say 'Ancient' but I guess that crosses out one from my list." I said. Sebastian blinked, "Are you talking about those beings that create the laws if the universe?" He asked, and I smiled at his knowledge.

"Yes."

"No." I frowned.

Beep.

The next thing that came to my head, was probably the most unlikely one. It isn't common for those kinds to be roaming about, but it was plausible...

"Are you a... demon?" I asked. He looked up at me suddenly, a glare in his eyes, and a slight smirk on his lips.

DING!!!

So I guess it wasn't all that unlikely.

I realize how short this chapter is. I know. You were probably expecting something much more... descriptive right? Nah. I'm not that deep. And Annie is a very straight to the point character.

We will learn more about Annie, and who she is, and much about her past. At the moment I'm writing out the story of why she is called a Phoelmogen, which is a bit of a mini arc on its own. Also, expect a plot twist between Sebastian and Annie. It isn't anything romantic, buuuuut its with them two so why not? Though that's not for a couple more chapters, but expect it OK?
