Wander Past the Eyes That Define You

Alone

As the police ran through the halls they searched her room. As they rushed in, they saw the delicate seed of Anna coiled up in a ball among the broken glass. A police officer rushed over to her lifeless body and at the lightest touch of his hand she fell over. Her shoulder blades protruded violently, pushing the boundaries of her bluish-transparent skin. Her arms, like tiny rails, cradled the endless wrinkles on her cavernous stomach. Her ribs twisted together before the concave remains of her stomach dropped off her torso. Her hips slid into her, barely keeping her pointy legs attached. Her balding hair draped over her chiseled cheeks and sunken in eyes that stared up - empty. The officer gleamed down at her eyes, trying to search for a sign of life or a flicker of hope. But instead, he only saw a faraway gaze. Light-years away. The rest of the policemen came closer to see. As they picked her up to carry her away, they saw the sight of themselves in the mirror. They were all huddled together holding nothing but the air.
