Elsa Steiner, a volunteer nurse at a Munich hospital, and her younger siblings are struggling to continue their normal life without parental supervision and among one of the deadliest wars the world has ever seen, World War II. Elsa has always tried to stay away from trouble for the safety of her family, but when she accidentally attracts the attention of a Nazi Gestapo officer and takes in a injured and lost British pilot, she must battle her own wars, internally as well as externally.
