When Worlds Collide
Chapter 4.
The smell of pancakes woke Lois up slowly on her first Saturday of her new life. Normally her Saturday's would be filled with dance from 9-3 then come home and clean out the rabbit hutch, but not today. Today would be spent going round town and possibly, no, hopefully meeting Ellie's friends. Downstairs there were the distinct voices of her aunt and cousin singing along to their favourite songs while they were getting the breakfast sorted. Outside Lois could also hear her uncle and youngest cousin unloading her boxes from the van before placing them in the hallway ready to be taken upstairs. After checking the time on her phone, she decided to go down and eat something so she could get her clothes sorted.
"Morning dear, did you sleep well?" The older woman asked her niece
"Yes thank you Alison, I slept better than I thought I would. That bed is really comfy and I got rid of all my jetlag."
"Good good, help yourself to whatever you want by the way" and with that her aunt continued singing to Let It Be. The table was laid with pancakes, strawberries, bagels, mixed fruit salad and cereal. Grabbing a plate Lois helped herself to a bagel and a helping of fruit salad.
"Alison! This is amazing!" Lois praised her aunt. The food was delicious and had everything that Lois needed in a breakfast to keep her going till lunch so that she wouldn't be tempted to snack. Alison smiled in response and helped herself to some pancakes and strawberries.
"I'll show you round today after you've sorted out your boxes if you want?" Her cousin asked, having the same as her mother.
"Yes please, I can't wait to see everything"
"We'll start with the beach and walk along"
The three women finished their breakfast in a comfortable silence, Lois lost in her thoughts while Ellie began planning their day.
"That was lovely thank you, if you'll excuse me I'll go and unpack my boxes"
As soon as Lois was upstairs Alison turned to Ellie.
"Are you planning on letting Lois meet your friends today?"
"Definitely, I told them all yesterday that Lois was here and Jimmy said he can't wait to meet her. We all agreed to meet at the beach which is why I said we would start there."
"Good, I think Lois will love them all, especially Brian."
Ellie just looked at her mother in shock.
"What makes you say that?"
"They're very similar in personality if you haven't already caught on to it."
Meanwhile upstairs Lois was unpacking her boxes. Most of it was her clothes and dance equipment along with her paperwork that she needed for starting college. When she get to the last box she froze, inside wrapped in tissue paper was her first dance medal that she thought she had lost nearly 13 years before and a note taped to the back.
Hi Lois, I know you're probably wondering where I got this from. Well when you lost it I was watching you and saw how upset you were about losing it. So I went to find it before it was too late and it got lost forever. It was behind the printer - seriously how did you manage to get it back there? Anyway I was going to give it to you before I left but I must have put it in a moving box by mistake, so when mom got the call to ask if you could stay with us I sent it back to your mom asking her to pack it for me knowing that you'd find it when you unpacked. I hope you haven't missed it too much but it's now yours again. Please don't go loosing it behind any printers again because I got paper cuts and covered in ink from that. Love you cuz, Ellie xxx
How had Ellie thought to look behind the printer? And how long after she lost it did Ellie find it? Placing it on the bedside table and folding down the boxes, she pulled on her shoes and ran downstairs to where Ellie was waiting for her.
"Your sim has just come, want me to set it up quickly for you?"
"Oh yes please, will I be able to phone my mom later then and it won't cost us?"
"Yes dear, give me your phone"
In 5 minutes Ellie had managed to set up the sim and put all of Lois's contacts in.
"How the hell did you do that that quick?" Lois asked scrolling through her phone contacts.
"Media students know everything, come on lets go!" And with that Lois was pulled out the door and down the road. The beach was starting to fill up slowly as it was still early. Ellie weaved her way through various groups of people until she came to a sudden stop and smiled at Lois.
Before the older girl could process what had just happened Ellie yelled "LOIS HAS ARRIVED!" and ran off to a group of people sitting a little way down the beach. About 6 heads all whipped round at once, all with smiles on their faces. 5 boys and 1 girl all got to their feet and walked towards where Lois stood. Not wanting to stand there awkwardly, she shuffled forwards until the group met in the middle. Immediately she recognised Brian her new next door neighbour but knew no one else.
"Lois, I would like you to meet my friends!" Ellie exclaimed and began introducing her to them all. The girl was called Shannon and would also be going to the dance college with Lois. Well at least I'll know someone there at least she thought. The shortest one of the group was called Johnny, as well as being small, his hair was dyed mainly blond with patches of black in between. Matt was tall and muscular with hazel eyes and amazing dimples which made his lip ring stand out when he smiled. The tallest and almost lanky boy with blond hair that stuck up all over his head was called Jimmy and Lois felt an immediate affection to him and last to be introduced was Zacky, who had piercing green eyes, snake bites and jet black hair. All of the boys had tattoos which Lois couldn't stop looking at.
"Lois!" Jimmy yelled and picked Lois up and spun her in a hug after everyone had been introduced.
"Hello to you too Jimmy" Lois half laughed half screamed as Jimmy had hoisted her above his head.
"Don't break her Jim, we want to be her friends before you kill her" Shannon laughed as Jimmy put Lois down and pouted.
"You never let me have any fun! Come on Lois we're gonna’ run away together."
Before Lois had time to think, Jimmy had picked her up bridal style and ran off down the beach with her cackling down Lois's ear. They got half a mile down the beach before Jimmy eventually put Lois back on her feet and turned to her.
"Well then my sweet bride, what shall we do now?" The playful glint never leaving his eye.
"Erm, how about you show me where the shops are? Just for future reference so I can buy my new husband some presents on his birthday?"
"YAY!" Jimmy yelled before once again dragging Lois behind with him. After wondering round the shops for about half an hour, both the teenagers decided to get some food. After placing their orders and collecting their food they made their way to one of the corners where it was secluded so they could talk more openly. Already after 2 hours of being in Jimmy's company Lois had learned quite a lot about him and his friends and was sure that they would become very close.
"So Jimmy"
"So Lois" He repeated after her, taking a long sip of his drink.
"What are the guys all like?"
A small grin spread across Jimmy's face as he began explaining about all of the guys in the group. She found out that Shannon and Zacky had been together for just over a year and that Ellie and Matt were practically a couple already. As soon as Jimmy mentioned that she remembered Ellie talking about a boy that she really liked and that she was in the group of friends with him. As soon as Jimmy began talking about Brian Lois immediately snapped to attention, even though she had tried to be discrete, the blond haired boy still managed to pick up on it.
"Brian is a bit of a closed book to start with, he won't show much emotion until he gets comfortable with you which may come off as arrogant to start, but trust me once you get to know him you'll love him. He cares a lot about his family and is a great guitarist, but from what I've been told you've heard him play already"
Lois nodded and continued to eat her meal while Jimmy talked about the formation of a band with all the guys in the group. Just as Lois had finished eating, Jimmy suddenly ducked under the table and whispered for Lois to do the same.
"Everyone has found us! We must abort the mission! Come my dancing queen we need to escape the devils." With that he leapt from under the table and ninja rolled on the floor until he was crouched behind the fountain. Running quickly to where Jimmy was hidden they both burst out into fits of giggles before a strong pair of hands grabbed Lois's waist and puller away from Jimmy.
"Found you!" Brian laughed as Lois thrashed about as Matt held her away from Jimmy.
"MY DANCING QUEEN! PUT HER DOWN!" Jimmy shrieked before being held down between Johnny and Zacky.
"So you're still alive, that's good. We thought that idiot over there kidnapped you" Brian gestured with his head to where Johnny now lay on the floor being squashed by both Jimmy and Zacky. Matt gently put Lois down and gave her a sheepish smile. Ellie walked out from him laughing at how red her older cousin had gone from being involved in the scene.
"Okay now we've found my cousin and this one, let's go chill at the beach! It's too nice not to be out there. We'll all go back home and get our stuff and then we'll meet on the beach, sound good?" All the teenagers agreed and were soon parting to go and get their belongings.
