When Worlds Collide

Chapter 5.

The walk home with Ellie was spent talking about both of the teenagers’ mornings and what they did. Lois found out that the rest of the group all went to the mall trying to look for them but only found them when Jimmy decided to roll on the floor causing many of the shoppers to look round in surprise. As they got near the house Lois could make out a group standing on the porch talking to Alison who at that moment pointed over to where Lois and Ellie were walking. No sooner had Alison pointed, Jimmy leapt over the railings, ran to where the girls were and dragged them over to the house to the bemused faces of their friends.

"Jimmy I hope you're not always going to do that, give the girl some space!" Alison scolded before handing both girls towels and their bags.

"How did you?" Lois began.

"Ellie called after Jimmy abducted you this morning" Alison shot what was meant to be a disappointed look at Jimmy but couldn't keep a straight face, "and asked me to get your things ready"

"Thanks mom, we'll be back around 6" Ellie said before giving her mom a hug and a kiss before walking down the steps.

"Thanks Alison" Lois said giving a small wave before following her red haired cousin.

"Momma A is so cool" Zacky mused from behind getting a mumble of approvement from everyone else.

"Momma A?"

"Yeah, we all call her Momma A cause she's awesome and is practically like a mom to us all" Matt explained shooting a look towards Ellie.

"Basically she helps us out with music ‘cause she plays piano and is better at working out chord progressions" Johnny added. Lois always loved hearing her aunt play piano and couldn’t wait to hear her play again. When she was younger Alison would play the piano for Lois to practice improv to, the memory making her smile to herself.

"That's because someone decides to be a dick and make the most complicated guitar solos in existence and leaves us to work out the chords"

"Yeah but you get them in the end." Brian mused from right behind Lois, making her jump. "Sorry" he muttered before putting on his sunglasses and smirking at her. Lois couldn't help but blush at the close proximity between them and the way he had looked at her. The rest of the way to the beach the group talked about music and what they would be doing when they got back to school, Lois simply zoned out and carried on walking. A light tap brought her out of her daydream.

"Hey, I'm looking forward to getting to know you and how you dance this summer, maybe we could go out one of the days, you know just the girls? I wanna see what style of dance suits you best." Shannon said smiling at her.

"Yeah, I'd like that." Lois replied smiling back at the smaller girl. Shannon came up to Lois's chin and had rich dark brown hair that came down to her lower back. She had a small figure which was perfect for Zacky's height. Lois knew that they'd become close as she seemed so genuine and honest. Once the group arrived at the beach they wasted no time in laying down their towels and getting dressed into their swimming trunks and bikinis, Lois realised that she didn't have hers on and looked round frantically for somewhere to get dressed, longing to be in the cool blue water that was enticing her to come and swim. Sensing her cousin's worry Ellie lead her to the make shift changing area. After changing the cousins made their way back to where everything was, all the guys looked at them and gaped at Lois making her very self conscious.

"Guys stop perving, and Brian, close your mouth hun you don't want to catch flies." Ellie snapped at them all before grabbing her sun cream and applying it all over her skin. Lois just blushed harder as Brian continued to stare at her, wearing the same smirk as earlier.

Gathering her confidence she finally decided to speak up. "Dude take a picture it will last longer." At her words the group collapsed in fits of giggles making Brian scratch the back of his neck and drop his gaze to the floor.

"Nice one Lois." Shan winked before running down the beach to join Zacky in the water. After sunbathing for an hour Lois went and joined everyone in the water splashing about and messing around. The second Lois reached the group of teenagers she was tackled in to the cool blue ocean by a pair of tattooed arms. The moment Lois surfaced she was met with the smirk that she was becoming used to. After regaining her breath she glared at Brian, who simply stood with his arms folded across his chest.

"You are dead" She cried before jumping onto him causing him to fall over in the water. After wrestling with Brian for 5 minutes Lois eventually managed to swim away far enough so that he couldn't grab her and dunk her again. Laughing as he resurfaced, both teenagers failed to notice the looks that the rest of the group were giving them.

"I think I won that one" He said wiggling his eyebrows as he spoke.

"Dream on" Lois replied before launching herself at him again. But this time Brian was ready for her and caught her in his arms and pulled her into his body.

"What was that you were saying again?" He whispered in her ear causing shivers to run down her spine at how close they were, his toned stomach pressed against her back. Unable to think straight Lois just splashed around trying to make it seem as though Brian had no effect on her whatsoever. Deciding she had had enough of the water she made her way back up the beach and lay down on her towel trying to catch the dying rays of the sun. One by one the group all left until - without Lois realising - it was just her and Brian. Looking round and noticing this Lois made a mental note to kill Ellie the second she walked through the door.

"Come on it's late and you don't know your way home."

"Excuse you?" Lois said trying to hide her annoyance at his arrogance while gathering her towel and clothes, and pulling her shorts on over her bikini bottoms.

"You don't know your way home. You were zoned out all the way here and didn't pay attention to anything anyone said."

Even though he made a valid point Lois still couldn't help but be annoyed at how he had known she didn't pay attention.

"Fine. Lead the way." She gestured for him to go ahead. He simply shrugged and walked ahead putting his hands in his pockets. Thinking that trying to start a conversation was pointless Lois just focused on remembering the way to her new home.

"Just for the records I won that match."

"No you didn't, if you hadn't have grabbed me you would have been dunked and I would have won."

"So you've just admitted that I've won."

"No I didn't."

"Did."

Deciding to let it go for now Lois agreed. "Fine, I'll get you next time though."

"No you won't"

"Yes I wi-"

Before Lois could finish her sentence, Brian crashed his lips onto hers, silencing her momentarily. Just as Lois registered what happened he pulled away, winked at her and walked up to his porch and let himself in silently. Completely dumbfounded, she felt her lips still tingling from his kiss. Walking up to her cousin's house she didn't notice the look that Ellie gave her, as she had been sitting in the front room waiting for her to come back, but when Brian kissed her she had nearly fallen off her chair in shock. Would this be the start of something new?
