When Worlds Collide

After Brian kissed her Lois wasn't able to think straight, dinner that evening was very quiet with Lois not saying much at all. When her aunt asked what was wrong she simply said she missed not being able to talk with her mom and sisters. Ellie shot Lois a look that screamed we need to talk. As soon as dinner was over and the plates were cleared away the two teenagers retired to their rooms. Ellie gave Lois half an hour to call her family before she came in to talk to her cousin. She knew Lois well enough to know that she really felt uncomfortable and wasn't happy with what Brian had done to her cousin after just meeting her.

"Hey Lois, can we talk?"

"Ellie now really isn't the best time"

"I saw Brian Kiss you"

Sighing, Lois knew that she would have to talk about it some time or other with Ellie. May as well get it done sooner rather than later.

"I don't know what to think, like yeah he's really hot and stuff but I've only just met him. And I don't just want to be a notch in his belt because I'm not that type of girl." By the time Lois had said that she was nearly in tears, and when Ellie hugged her she lost it, giving in to the sobs as she remembered what happened a few years back. If Brian was only looking for that then Lois wasn't the girl for him.

"Want me to talk to him for you? I won't mention the thing but I'll say either commit or leave?"

"Yeah please" was all Lois could manage before sobs wracked her body again.

"Try and get some sleep, I'll leave you to sleep in tomorrow. Night Lolo"

"Night Ell, thank you"

"No problem"

Ellie closed the door gently before getting out her phone and dialling Brian's number. Making sure she was as far away from Lois's room as possible she waited for him to pick up.

"Hello?"

"Brian we need to talk, get on the roof in 5 minutes."

"Wait what?"

"I'll tell you in a bit, just get on the roof okay?"

"Okay, bye?" Ellie could hear the question in his voice.

5 minutes later Ellie climbed out onto the roof by her room where Brian was already sitting with a cigarette between his lips.

"You wanted to talk to me?" He questioned.

"I need to talk about Lois"

His face faltered but managed to recover quickly.

"I saw you kiss her."

This time he made no effort to hide his reaction. After running his hands through his hair and taking a long drag on his cigarette he finally spoke again.

"Oh."

"Yeah"

"Look if you think I'm going to just lead her on, sleep with her and then ditch her then you're wrong. I really do feel something towards her." He took another drag before continuing. "I want a proper relationship not just a one night thing, Lois is beautiful and funny and just amazing. I don't know what to say when I'm around her, she makes my mind go blank and her smile is breathtaking."

Ellie was astonished, never had she thought that Brian would be the type of guy to fall in love on first sight.

"Well well, never have I see Brian Haner Jr lost for words."

"Yeah I know, just please keep it secret for now please?"

"Okay, yeah I will. But you hurt her and I swear to god your ass is mine."

"Noted, now can I go back inside now? It's starting to rain now."

"Yeah, see you soon Bri."

"By Ell, oh by the way Matt was asking about you again, just get with him already!"

Ellie just flipped him off before climbing back in through the window. But she had meant what she said, if Brian did hurt her then he'd have to deal with her. Lois couldn't go through what happened with Jack again. That had destroyed her and her confidence, something that Lois had only told Ellie recently before coming over to Huntington Beach. Checking in on her cousin she found her fast asleep. Deciding it was late enough Ellie climbed under her own covers and fell asleep.
