When Worlds Collide

Chapter 8.

Lois had had a great afternoon with the four other teenagers, they had gone to get pizza and then had a walk down the beach. Ellie and Matt lost in conversation with each other while Shannon, Lois and Jimmy all talked and joked around. Lois had missed the feeling she got when she was with them and regretted hiding herself away all that time, when she had 3 weeks left of the holidays before she would only see the whole group on occasions. Added to that she really wanted to see her family again as she wouldn't be seeing them till the October break.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Shannon asked noticing Lois's facial expression drop.

"Nothing, just lost in my head that's all."

"Is it about Brian?"

"No." She answered smiling weakly, her mind was as far away from Brian as could be.

"School?"

"And family yeah."

Jimmy gave her a sympathetic look and gave her a hug.

"Don't worry about school, from what we saw earlier you'll pass with flying colours and you'll have Shan there. Plus I heard you don't get much homework so more time to hang with us all!" He finished and kissed the top of her head gently. Lois looked at Shan and she nodded her head. They rarely got homework because the theory was covered so closely and the teachers knew the stresses that dancing put on their bodies. Lois made a mental note to ask more about the college when she and the shorter girl had some time away from all the others.

All to soon they were all saying goodbye and Lois and Ellie were left to walk back to their house.

"So how did you find today?" Her red haired cousin asked smiling at her.

"It felt so good to get out of the house, I missed Jimmy and Shan."

"Yeah they missed you too, they kept asking to see you."

"I'm glad you brought them up, but not so happy you let them see me dance though. I was messing around!" She nudged her cousin playfully.

"Well someone had to get you out of that room! It was Matt's idea in the first place so you should thank him not me."

"I would if I had his number." She thought for a moment. "I haven't got anyone's number! Well apart from Jimmy's he stole my phone on the beach and put his number in."

"Don't worry I'll write them all down for you so you can put them all in later, just make sure you text them with your name though, they get annoyed with unknown numbers."

Lois just smiled and thanked her cousin before stopping and having a look out into the ocean. Ellie had already gone inside and told her mom that they didn't want a lot to eat as they had pizza a few hours earlier. Alison said she would send up some snacks to them later if they wanted. Feeling a presence behind her, Lois thought it was Ellie and decided to try and push her over but when she turned round she was met with a broad chest and tattooed arms, definitely not Ellie. Looking up into his chocolate brown eyes Lois did all she could to stop herself from smacking him round the face. Sensing her anger Brian sighed and nodded towards a bench on the side of the road indicating that he wanted to talk.

"What do you want Brian? Because if you think you can just come over here and say you're sorry then you're very much mistaken!" She all but yelled as she felt the anger bubbling up inside of her and slightly surfacing.

He only sighed and dropped his head in his hands as they rested on his knees.

"I did come to apologise, but I also thought I needed to explain myself."

Lois just scoffed and dropped down onto the seat next to him, pulling up her legs and sat cross legged facing the guitarist.

"Start explaining then." Her words came out colder than she had expected but she didn't care, he deserved to know how she felt.

"Lois I'm so sorry for kissing you and then walking away from you like that. I know it was wrong and that you probably hate me but I just... god I don't know how to act around you! You're beautiful and funny and I honestly can't stop thinking about you. You fascinate me Lois, like I've know you for what three weeks? And you're not like any other girl I've ever met. I -"

"Brian, shut up." She laughed at how his cheeks were a lighter shade of pink than they were earlier. "Apology accepted, just tell me why you kissed me?"

"Ermm, I... I kinda wanted to ever since you stuck your head out of the window when you first got here. You're very pretty you know."

This time it was Lois's turn to blush. She heard Brian chuckle and she sent him a glare which he took as his cue to shut up.

"Can we focus on being friends first then please? Because I hardly know anything about you."

"Well what do you want to know?"

"Anything really, I'm not fussed."

"I have a younger brother called Brent and a younger sister called Mckenna, she's my half sister, I live with my dad and step-mom Suzy. I play guitar and piano. My favourite colour is purple and my favourite flavour of ice cream is mint. Happy?" He finished with a small smirk.

"That's a start yes, but I still want to know more. How about we get everyone together tomorrow and just chill at Ellie's, I'm sure she won't mind."

"Sounds good." He said and gave a small smile, happy that they were going to get to know each other more.

The two sat on the bench for a little while longer talking about their lives, and her family. Brian took a particular interest in her life back on England. Lois didn't realise Ellie was standing on the porch watching in case Brian tried anything again. She had seen him come out of his house after Lois stopped and after talking to her mom Ellie was prepared to hurt Brian if he so much as made Lois look unhappy. So far so good the red head thought as the two stood up and walked back to their respective houses. With a small wave from Brian Lois climbed the steps and smiled at Ellie before giving her a hug and walking in the house.

"Woah woah woah Lois, come here!" Ellie yelled as Lois walked into her room.

"Yes?" She answered her head poking out of the door.

"What's got you so happy?"

"I think I like Brian." She said, the smile never leaving her face, instead making it grow inside.

Ellie smiled happy that they Brian had apologised and was making an effort. "Well be careful alright?"

"Yes Ellie, oh before I forget would it be okay if everyone comes and chills here tomorrow? Like we could all be in my room so we didn't make a mess downstairs?"

"Sure but you're texting them all though." A devilish smile crossed Ellie's lips.

"Numbers then" Lois said, holding her palm out and smirking when she saw Ellie's face drop as she knew that she had caught her cousin out. A few moments later Ellie came out of her room with slips of paper with numbers and names on.

"Thank you." With a small hug the cousins said goodnight and Lois set to work on texting the rest of the group.

Hey there, I was just wondering if you wanted to come over and chill tomorrow in my room? Let me know please :)

She sent the same generic text round to save time after adding all the numbers to her contacts to her phone. The replies came back fast, all agreeing it would be good and saying they would bring snacks of some sorts. Lois thought it may be good to use the X-box that was sitting by the TV. She set it up while waiting for the last replies. The one that stood out to her the most was from Brian - how convenient she thought.

Would love to, looking forward to spending a whole day with you. Maybe we can learn some more about each other ;)
- Brian x

Blushing slightly she put away some of her things before climbing underneath the covers and falling into a deep sleep, thinking of chocolate eyes and strong tattooed arms. Tomorrow couldn't come fast enough.
