Dreaming a Dream

"How was your date with my wife?" Matt asked me as I was watching TV. Kari was talking to his mom on the phone.

"So great. I missed her smile but she was extremely happy today"

"She was?" he beamed , "you think today helped her?"

"Yeah Matt today helped her"

His smile dropped , "I'm glad someone got her to smile"

My eyes softened and saddened , "Matty... you make her smile - all the time"

He scoffed , "no.. I don't."

"Matt , she'll scold you if she hears you talking like that. She loves you. You make her happy"

"she makes me very happy... But , I need to go back to work. I slacked this month helping Kari"

"Nobody blames you for thinking about your wife before your job"

"hmm , I'll see you later"

"Enjoy"

I sigh and continued watching One Tree Hill reruns.

Brian waltzed in hours later getting 5 bottles of beer out of the fridge ignoring me all the way.

"You're childish Brian"

"You're a bitch Tanya"

He rolled his eyes at my glare and walked back to Matt's office.

I sigh as tears formed in my eyes
