Giving up My Humanity and My Servitude to a Vampire

From Vampires Taking Over the World

"Where are we going?" I asked Nicholas, we had been driving for hours.

"Trenton, New Jersey, it's where the base is."

"I would've guessed it was in Washington D.C." I shrugged looking back out the window.

"I work for a more secrative part of the CIA called Bureau for the Paranormal Research and Defense. It's brand new and all." Pride was in his voice.

"My father is the head secretary." He smirked.

I nod.

"New Jersey, huh?" I cocked an eyebrow.

"It hasn't changed much... but, it's getting better now that Roosevelt is in charge."

"He's a good man." I agreed.

"Indeed."

"I have feeling he'll lead this country very well." I thought out loud.

"Hmm."

"Can you tell me now, what is going on?"

"I can't." He seemed sincere and so I didn't push the subject any further.

But even through all this new information my mind went back to Matthew. I could hear his voice inside of my head telling me he loved me and missed me. But then I think about the bet and all the sadness and sorrow is taken over with anger and rage.

I clentched my hands and they started to turn yellow and then orange.

"Calm down, Emily. You don't want to blow up the car, do you?" Nicholas reached out one hand and placed it on my shoulder and I took several deep breaths and my hand went back to the normal white color.

"Did you mean what you said about Matthew?"

Nicholas looked at me quickly before returning his eyes back to the road.

"About what?"

"That you've never seemed so happy with anyone else than with me?" I asked, sheepishly.

"Yes," I sighed in relief. "But... he is or was a womenizer."

"Oh." My voice full with disappointment.

"I'm sure you'll find someone better, Emily. Someone who will treat the way you deserve." His smile held so much care.

"Thank you... Nick."

We reached Trenton a couple hours later. We arrived at the top of a hill that looked over Trenton. The building was completely new.

Four mortal guards stood at the front. Nick showed his badge and the gate opened automatically. There was a fountain in the middle of an oval drive way. Nick turned the car off and I opened the door and stepped out. Nicholas took out my suit case from the back seat and carried it.

"Follow me." Nick winked at me and I smiled at him before looking all around the building.

We entered a normal door and found oursevles in a big circle place. On one of the walls it had the number 51. I looked down at the floor and saw a symbol. It was of a hand holding the end of a sword and it was colored red.

I hear clicking sounds and the floor under me starts to go down. There was panic in my face and I heard Nick strain a laugh; I sent him a death glare and he stopped.

"It's all right. It's taking us to the base." He was clearly still trying not to laugh.

I nod in understanding.

For a couple of seconds all I faced was concrete wall, but when the floor reached its destiny I saw several unfamiliar faces and two familiar faces. One was Ray, the werewolf who had no certain expression on his face and then his son, whose name was still unknown to me.

The thing made a clicking sound telling me it stopped.

"Welcome, Emilia." The man in the middle stretched out his hands like a plane. I looked at each face and read their minds.

Wow, she doesn't look so tough. Were the main thoughts of everyone there.

Nick got off first, he offered his hand but I ignored it and got off myself. I took another look around and there was three possible hallways; one straight where I was facing, one to my right and the other to my left.

"Thank you." My voice held no enthusiasm.

The man that spoke to me had a big smile on his face. His face was kind. He looked sort of like an older version of Nick, so I guessed that was his father.

"My name is Alexander Harrison."

"Nicholas' father." I added boredly.

"Yes. You catch on quickly." He laughed while waving his index finger at me.

I flash a quick smile before returning it to my normal expressionless one.

Alexander clapped his hands together. "Let's meet everyone, shall we?"

"I'm sure you've already met Ray, the leader of the werewolves." He gestured to Ray, who was next to him.

Ray nods his head at me acknowledging me and I do the same.

"His...ahem.. son... William." Alexander also felt the tension between me and William.

"Hello, amature." I smirked. "Still sore from our last encounter?"

That earned a low deep growl from William and his eyes flashed black.

"Aw, the puppy's mad." I teased with a baby voice.

"Emily." Nicholas sang my name.

"Just having a little fun." I shrugged and rolled my eyes.

"I can't believe we're letting the enemy here!" William snarled.

"Emilia, is not the enemy, Will." Alexander said, his word was clearly powerful because Will bit his tongue for any smart comebacks. "Let me show you to your room. We have a lot to talk about."

Before Alexander turned the way was cleared for him and me. I took the suitcase from Nick, to me it was like a feather, but I bet to Nick it was a great load off. I smirked evilly at William while I passed him and then I winked at him and clicked my tongue. He growled and I growled back, only louder and more dangerous and his heart started beating really fast and I laughed.

My room was... amazing. It was filled with all sorts of weapons. Alexander was happy when he saw my reaction.

"I'm glad you like it."

"It's beautiful." I touched the swords, I picked a random one and examined it. I did a few poses with it and weighed it with my hands. "Good." I placed it back in its place. I turned back to Alexander.

"Why I don't let you get comfortable and we'll talk tomorrow in the morning. You've had a long day."

I wasn't going to object. A whole lot of information was dropped on me today and I was surprised I hadn't lost it yet.

I couldn't sleep. He was in my dreams. His blue eyes filled with regret but then they would turn red, just like Edward's would. He would charge at me and hold me by the throat and laugh menacingly.

I splashed cold water on my face and looked myself in the mirror. When had I become such a heartless bitch? Matthew was the only one that made me human. How is touch would always take my breath away. With him I wasn't heartless or selfish.

I walked out of my room and found Nicholas, happilly, waiting for me. I returned the same he gave me.

"Morning, Emily."

"Morning."

"Do vampires sleep?"

I chuckled. "We take naps."

"Oh." He went into thought and I didn't want to invade his privacy so I stayed out of it. "Can you read minds?"

"Yes, but don't worry I'm not going to invade your mind."

He let's out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks." He mummered. "Um, one more question, do you eat?"

"Yes. You will find most vampires myths, untrue."

"Like sleeping in coffins." He pointed out with such spark in his tone. A tone familiar to me.

"Yes, and the whole holy water, garlic thing, not true." I nodded.

"Well then, let's eat." He gestured his hand to walk before him and so I did.

"How old are you Nicholas?"

"Nineteen, you?"

"Seventeen... forever." I whispered the last part and he didn't hear me because he didn't look at me.

We reached the eating area. Alexander was already there with Ray and William. Next to William was a women, her eyes bored into me. She wanted to kill me, I didn't have to read her thoughts to know. I guessed that was Ray's wife.

"Sit, Emily." Alexander gestured to the seat next to him and so I took it.

In front of me was eggs with bacon.

"Morning, Alexander, Ray, William."

"Oh, that is Anne, Ray's wife."

"You killed my son you little bitch!" She jumped from her seat and accused me with her finger.

I rolled my eyes, it was too early to start an argument.

"Now, now Anne. It wasn't her fault--"

"She knew what she was doing and she kills--"

"LADY! Shut. Up!!" I screamed and she widen her eyes in surprised. "I will tell you something I told, Willam over there, it works both ways. You kill and we kill. So don't be such a hypocrite and pretend you're all saints!"

She opened and closed her mouth like a fish out of the water and sat down in defeat. Her bottom lip pouted.

I started to eat as if nothing had happened.

"Ahem." Alexander cleared his throat and I looked at him. "Nicholas told us why you left and I--"

"I don't want sympathy. I want to make this clear. I am not weak and I don't need sympathy from anyone." I snapped.

"Understood. It shall not be brought up again. Nick told me you know about your ancestor."

"Dracula, yes. At frist I thought it was ridiculous. I mean, the mere thought of Dracula actually existing." I laughed at the last part.

"He was real all right. My great-great-great-great-grandfather was the one who defeated him." His tone filled with pride and a hint of cockiness. "Did Elizabeth told you about the prophecy?"

I scoffed at the cliche, a prophecy, it couldn't be somethng more original or something. I shook my head in 'no'.

"Let me see if I remember." He creased in forehead in concentration and 'ah-ed' when he remembered.

"A mortal shall be born.
The eldest of Dracula's descendant
Vampire royal blood will run
through its veins. It shall have
the power beyond a normal vampire.
It will bring down vampires to their knees
It will be the guardians for the mortals."

"Of course it was all in Latin but I translated it." He flashed a smile.

"And so I'm this "It"?" I used air quotes.

"You are indeed the oldest."

It was a statement.

"So, what does it mean?" I asked still confused.

"It means you're meant to protect man kind."

I chuckled. "From what?"

"From vampires taking over the human world!"
