Oh Calamity

Ezra's p.o.v: "Mr. DeMarco you are late again" my science teacher signs
"Woopdeedoo." i say annoyed
"If you keep this up you won't graduate" he tells me
"Fine" i say rudely and take the only seat next to someone I've never seen before
"Ok today class you will be working with the person next to you on a project. I will expect you two to work outside of school" the teacher says and i groan and the guy next to me just pushes his glasses up and I look at him. he's kinda cute... wait Ezra you said you'd never like someone again since what happened with Alix
"So we working on this or what?" i say bored and he nods
"Do you talk?" i ask
"yes" he says quietly and i read his lips
"can you sign?" i ask
"yes" he signs
"ok well lets ditch this joint." i sign and the bell rings and I pull him out of class to the quad area cause it's lunch
"lets leave" i sign
"And we'll be back before the bell?" he asks
"no. what's your name?"
"Ryder Eckes" he replies
"well Ryder. you seem like you need friends. and I think you'd be cool if you weren't so shy. but i'm not going to change you. I'll just be your friend" i sign and he looks terrified
"Is this a set up. no one ever wanted to be my friend at my old school" he tells me
"Well i'm not setting you up. you seem like a cool guy. and a cute one. so take it under consideration. but today i'll buy you lunch how does that sound"
"i can pay" he replies
"no you won't. so what do you want" i ask
"coffee and anything" he replies
"Ok. I know a little diner run by my aunt and grandpa. lets go there" i sign. I don't know why i'm being so nice to him. I haven't been nice to anyone since Alix died. and this guy is cute. maybe... just maybe i'll give Ryder a chance. while we are in the car I light my cigarette. I picked up the habit. and now i party so Mina doesn't really like me
"Can you not smoke it pollutes the air and its a killer for me and you" Ryder says
"Fine" i reply and throw the cigarette out
"Polluter" he calls me and i stick my tongue out at him and he copies me. once we get to the diner we walk in and we order. he orders a coffee and a sandwich i order a slice of pizza. we eat it and after that we walk out to the park... the park me and Alix had our first date at...
"oh I love this park it's so pretty" Ryder says happily and he see's the pained face on me
"whats wrong?" he asks
"Nothing!" i snap and he flinches
"I'm sorry please don't hit me!" he says scared and hyperventilates and i hug him.
"shhh... it's ok i won't hurt you" i say and calm him down. once he calms down he runs off but i try to stop him
"hey wait!" i yell but he's gone
